tazjedi
I got my new FEHL AWD 09 vehicle today and during the purchase I was offered to extend the sirius subscription past the 12 months for a discount. Any idea on how to get the 12 digit number needed for the radio? The Sirius + 1 button that the manual said does not work. We tried multiple options while at the dealer tonight that did not work. Any thoughts on what I could try?

tazjedi
Check your owner's manual. Mine was in there. Not written in there, just says press Sirius and then 1, but that does not bring it up.
09feh
Not written in there, just says press Sirius and then 1, but that does not bring it up. On the Nav unit, press the "i" button for information. Both the sirius radio and travel link esn is listed there. If the esn is all dashes as in ----------------, then the head unit us DEFECTIVE and will have to be replaced. PS the esn #'s are also listed on top of the unit (it must be removed to see them)... but again if the esn is all dashes under "information" then the head unit is DEFECTIVE. Been there, done that... haydn12
There's a step missing in 09feh's instructions above. After hitting the 'i' button for the Info screen, then select 'System Info'. That page will list the ESN number for the Sirius Radio and Travel Link. Jim

Jim Unfortunately I did not get the Nav so that will not work, but thank you for providing that for others that did. The dealer was able to call Ford and get the ESN number. Ford sends them over to Sirius monthly and this one had not made it over there yet. Thank you for all the suggestions.

david_j
I too could not get the Sirius 12 digit number by following the directions in the owner's manual of our 2009 FEH. It states that you should press the "Preset 1" and "Sirius" buttons simultaneously. That does nothing other than switch stations. I looked in a 2008 Escape XLT owner's manual and it states to hold the "Preset 1" and the "Aux" buttons simultaneously. Apparently Ford has an error in the 2009 owners manual, because when I press the preset 1 and the Aux button I get a valid Sirius "ESN" number. Strange. Why would they have you press the Aux button and not the Sirius button. I think it's possible they changed the order of the radio function buttons, but not the Sirius code button in the 2009 models. Semi-on topic and semi-off topic here, but has anyone been able to register with the NAV system in their 09 Escape? I have an 09 FEHL with NAV and the owner's manual/packet included a NAV book that directed you to register with NAVTEQ. When I called them they told me that they stopped with the 08 model and that they are not the manufacturer nor provide support for the 2009 models. I know that syncmyride is not recognizing the 2009 models yet but I don't think they are the NAV support site either.

I just picked up my '09 FEL I4 this past Saturday and went into NAVTEQ and Syncmyride both on Sunday and both sites let me register with no problem. NAVTEQ seems to be a generation or two behind and the latest vehicle model they show in the drop down menu is the 2007. That site provides you information that the cost of the update disk is $199 but I found out from the dealership that the new generation NAV system updates from the satellite link and does not need a disk. That is great. How did you register? Did they recognize your VIN on Syncmyride? I just tried again and it still will not recognize my VIN. Crud...oh well, I guess I will keep on waiting. Also on NAVTEQ what did you do? It would not let me and when I called them they acted like I was an idiot. That is actually normal for me according to my ex and my coworkers thought . GL...I actually did not do anything other than log on to the sites and entered the required information and make selections from the drop-downs. I saw the thread that the sites wouldn't let you register and just figured I'd give it a try. I was also able to subscribe to the Ford Owner's site with no problem. Seems like my VIN must have gone in immediately. I might not be so lucky with the Sirius site. I tried it a few minutes ago and it would not work. I just went out to my SUV and got the brochure and will see if there is anything magic tha tI have missed. Good luck with your attempts. I see, I signed up at the Ford Owner's site with no problems either but I don't see where you register with the syncmyride with drop down boxes (when I go there it asks me to input my vin and then I stop) and NAVTEQ does not show the 2009 at all. It must be a user error here so I will keep on trying. Thanks.

That site provides you information that the cost of the update disk is $199 but I found out from the dealership that the new generation NAV system updates from the satellite link and does not need a disk. That is not exactly true...per the '09 FEH Nav System Manual, "SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATES NAVTEQ offers system software updates for purchase. You can call 1-800-NAVMAPS or go to www.navteq.com. You will need to specify the make and model of you vehicle in order to determine if a map update is available. CD song/artist/title/album art database updates (CDDB) are available. There is no charge for the data, however, there is a nominal shipping and materials fee. Mapping updates will be available yearly. CDDB database updates are complimentary when a map update is purchased." My understanding is that when you purchase an update, you are sent a DVD install disc that then updates the hard drive of your system. rscalzo
You have to extend before the expiration of the six month free plan. Sirius sent me the info on my radio within a month or so.
bessee
NOTE: On the 2011 Fusion there is an error in the SIRIUS instruction pamphlet. Start the car, turn on the radio in SIRIUS mode, push the SIRIUS button and “preset #1" button simultaneously followed by the AUX button and “preset #1" button simultaneously - the ESN will appear as a 12 digit number on the LED display in the middle of the center stack.
