No Boss Engine in Mustang

6.2l is was never a Mustang engine - it was a possibility - but not a likely one - 5.0l is a Mustang engine.

The news here is the F150/Expy/Navi effect.

And I don't think the F150/Expy/Navi impact will be anything significant either. I doubt it would have been a high-take option in any of them...except maybe the Navi.

I think I agree with you. While it'd be nice to have bragging rights for the most powerful half ton, or large SUV, etc., in this day in age, with gas how it is, I think hp bragging rights are taking a back seat to fuel economy. I think the 5.4 will do well enough with the power upgrades and 6-speed. As you said, the engine likely wouldn't be that high take of an option. Navigator could probably use it to go against Escalade, though, but we'll see.

I don't see why they cant just twin turbo a 5.0 for the mustang, with VVT and DI it would be more powerful and efficient than a 6.2 NA engine could be. Even BMW is moving towards turbo V8s. For the trucks i guess they could do it only if the turbos could handle towing.

Posts here way old lol. In retrospect the 5.0L was retained for the Boss 302 to maintain the motor limitation size for racing in the Trans-AM series was it? It's not a Coyote engine but was dubbed the road runner. Subtle differences between the 2 but not sure on Coyote, the road runner was designed to sustain high RPM. Pretty much what sets them apart as my understanding (5-50wt. oil req'd for starters)

Can it still outperform today's Coyote? I can't say or if the upgraded engine can sustain the 7K RPM's or not. The road runner may still outperform the higher Coyote HP versions which made the Boss stand apart from them in earlier years. Any info or opinions would be great to hear about.

Ford named them officially, see if I can get this info on...... http://www.mustangandfords.com/car-reviews/m5lp-1108-2011-ford-mustang-302/
