  1. A few weeks ago we got a 2022 Escape PHEV. The other morning it would not start. It looked like the 12V battery died. Looking around the web I found out how to jump start it. The jump start battery showed the voltage way down. We found the high voltage battery was charged over 2/3. In the forums it looks like it is a common problem. Why??? How is the 12V battery charged? It is my wife’s and she has been trying it on EV only and charging it at night. If it is only off the engine or is somewhere in the drive train? If only off the engine it has not been charged for days. Also, she could have left something on. Still, it looks like there is no connection between the 2 batteries.
  2. I have a 2004 Expedition XLT with a 4.6L engine. I wonder if someone has run across this or if anyone is very familiar with the Expedition's electrical system, I can get some advice. I can pretty well describe the issue sequentially: I have a volt meter plugged into the 12V cigarette receptacle. It displays the system voltage, which is usually 14.3 or 14.4 volts. This device helps characterize what is going on as you'll see. By the way, I have a new battery and I had replaced the battery thinking the issue was due to an old battery. This is not the case. 1. I start up the car and no battery light shows, which is fine. I see my volt meter showing 14.4 volts. 2. After a bit, maybe 10-15 or more minutes, the battery light will turn on. At precisely this time, the voltage showing on the volt meter goes down to 12.7 or so. 3. The volt meter will be seen to display 12.7 volts and bit by bit, over about 5-10 minutes, the voltage will go down, eventually to 12.0 or even. 11.9 volts. NOTE: The headlights become somewhat dimmer during this time. 4. Once the volt meter displays 12.0 or 11.9 volts, suddenly, the battery light turns off and the volt meter displays 14.4 volts. The headlights become brighter. It stays this way for about 5-10 minutes and then repeats the sequence over and over, starting again at step 2. It's obvious that the system is running off the battery for a period of time and when the "juice" gets too low, the system starts charging again. Does anyone know what component this could be that is failing? For some reason, the system stops charging, but immediately starts charging when the battery no longer delivers enough power.
  3. On Oct 4th my 2016 MKX with 15,000 miles had a bad battery. Started the car with a jump and charging was 13.6volts. Took to dealer and they installed new battery under warranty. Today Oct 7th I receive text msg from the car that my battery was low at 3AM in the morning. Nothing is left on, I reset my sync3 to factory defaults on the 4th and it still has something on that drains the battery. I have read that some modules do not turn off that may be causing this as others have had similar problems in both Ford and Lincolns. I will be dropping off at the dealer in the morning in hopes they have heard about this problem for awhile as I read many messages dating back to 2015 about the battery drains down over night. As an additional note I was getting a msg about my headlights not function correctly a few times about a month ago. I have the headlights that turn with the wheel. Any info would be helpful. thanks Iggy
  4. Good Evening All! I need some help! :-( Of course problems happen on weekends when service departments are not opened. Yesterday I turned my car key to ACC on the ignition in the parking lot and wanted to listen to the radio as I always do. Sadly, I got the "Battery Saver" message on my screen. I figured it's time to change the battery. Took the car to a Good Year this morning to replace battery. However, message still appears. No other warnings. What could it be????
  5. Got a new "used" 2013 Edge Sport with 3,000 miles on it. I only drive it when the sun is shining. It was parked for over a week in my garage. My husband pulled it out of the garage the other night after it had been parked for a week to work on his truck. Then started it up and pulled it back in garage. Today pulled it out of garage this afternoon to wash another vehicle in the garage. When I backed it in the garage later and shut it off, the touch screen said "battery saver system off-power off battery or start engine"....I have never seen that before. Certainly the battery wouldn't drain down in just over a week of not running would it. I have found other people complaining about this message but how do I know if I do have a low battery? I don't keep it locked so that the security system isn't draining the battery while it sits...any ideas?
