  1. So I had a chance to view an Energi SE at the Dallas Auto Show today and learned something I did not previously realize. The Energi has no spare tire. It makes sense with trunk space coming at a premium for this model, but it never occurred to me they would remove the spare tire. In its place is a 12v air compressor that has a built-in can of "fix a flat" to get you going again for minor punctures. Ford rep from the dealership said you could go about 50 miles on the repair until something more permanent could be done. I'm including a couple pics. I wouldn't have even looked and noticed this if the wife hadn't made a fuss about the lack of trunk space. Apart from that she's excited for one of these to join our family hopefully in a week or so. Enjoy!
  2. Hi CyberDMan, Thank you for your service. Please provide a visibility report (with CTTX) for the following: 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium White Platinum VIN: 3FA6P0RUXDR281733 (built 3/27) Dealer: F16201 (Lawrencevile, NJ) Order No: T030 (ordered 2/6) MyFusion
  3. I checked the manual and read that recommended fuel octane is 87 for the fusion. Dumb question: does that include the hybrid? When I entered my VIN in ETIS and expanded the list of options on the right hand side of the screen, it reads 91 octane, which is premium. Can you guys clarify this for me? Posting this same thread in fordfusionhybridforums.com in case you see it there. Thanks!
  4. www.evgonetwork.com I found this interesting. This group has been planting their commercial charging stations at the Walgreen's stored in the DFW area for a while now. Even though I knew the name, I did not know the extent to what they offer. With a residential subscription you can get a Level 2 charger installed with service and maintenance with a 3-year subscription at $59/month. That comes to $2124 over three years which isn't as affordable as those who can do some of the install work themselves. But for some this may be an affordable way into 240v charging at home. They have a "Complete" Plan for $89/month which includes the same plus unlimited charging on your home station during off-peak hours and unlimited charging at their commercial and public sites. Still more than I think I would pay since I think I'll do fine with Level 1 charging. What I found more interesting are their multi-family/workplace plans. For $69/month with 1 year subscription they will install a dedicated charging dock for you at your workplace, service and maintain it AND rebate your employer for the electricity used. Here is the workplace process: eVgo and the property representative agree on the best location for EV parking spaces. A licensed electrician determines the requirements for delivering power to those spaces and documents them in a plan that details costs and timing for installation. eVgo and property management begin promoting the building as REV-Certified. As soon as the first employee request for EV charging is received, installation of the EV infrastructure begins. And because the design of the installation has already been prepared, Installation can occur rapidly and employee expectations can be managed smoothly. The basic infrastructure is installed for the first employee, but additional charging docks will only be installed as needed. The result? You don’t end up dedicating parking spaces to EV parking that isn’t being used. When the tenant leaves, eVgo will remove the charging unit. It is still more than I would consider paying at this point. $3.45/day for electricity vs. the 1/2 gallon of gas I anticipate on the drive home. ($69 / 20 workdays per month) But I haven't found anything else out there for subsidization or "renting" of infrastructure that actually includes the infrastructure. I'm still looking for a way to recharge at work for my return commute or I'll be running on ICE the whole way for that leg. Everything I find in downtown Dallas is private or for use by hotel guests only. So far it looks like they are only in Houston and "North Texas" which would mean DFW.
  5. I'm hoping for some quick feedback from the community... I'm going to my dealer tonight to finalize paperwork on my Energi Ti. In reviewing the drive off cost and what fees are in it the dealer mentioned $399 for an "etching" fee. I understand this to be a "theft deterrent" by having the glass and, I guess, some other parts etched with the VIN. I'm really on the fence about whether this is necessary. It is completely optional. It just makes me think of the old dealer added undercoating. Anyone else run into this or something similar and what are your thoughts about paying to have this done? Many thanks!
  6. I'm just curious, what's to stop somebody from ordering a car to be built through multiple dealers? I ask because there are so many cut throat dealers out there that even after you order your car they're trying to get you to order through them instead. Seems to me if somebody did that but didn't cancel their original order there should be some type of repercussions? Do dealers even care, because they'll just end up getting the car and selling it anyway. Would love to hear from dealers and people who have experienced this type of situation.
  7. If you have a 2013 Fusion Ti AWD model, the manual says that you should be able to view the AWD power distribution on the Information display on the left of the speedo by changing display modes: "Intelligent AWD (if equipped): displays power distribution between the front and rear wheels. More power to either front or rear wheels will be displayed by more area filled in." Only, It doesn't work. None of the menus for the Intelligent AWD System as described in the manual come up. My VIN and sticker confirm that I have an AWD car, but it is disconcerting that no menus are available for that system. I called the Ford Customer Relationship Center (CRC), and they told me it was a SYNC issue and told me to call the CRC/SYNC line. The SYNC people said is wasn't a SYNC issue. So, it would appear that this falls through the cracks. Do any other 2013 Fusion Ti AWD owners seem to have this issue?
  8. I just got home from the dealership after ordering my 2013 Fusion Hybrid (deep impact blue, charcoal cloth interior, SE hybrid technology package) using my wife's Z-Plan pricing. I'm stoked about the order. We drove and loved the 2012, but are very excited about the 2013 exterior and the improved mileage and fold down rear seats. According to dealer estimated delivery date is Oct 10. I even got a letter from the sales director allowing me to take back my deposit if it isn't delivered by the end of October, so I feel like Oct 10 must be a pretty good bet. Has anyone else ordered? What are you hearing as estimated delivery dates? Anyone know how to read the top portion of my order confirmation? It reads order number 01, Priority 10, tag 000z000, price level 315. What do these items mean?
  9. I put $500 down to reserve a "dealer ordered" 2013 Fusion Hybrid SE that was supposed to arrive at my local dealer in late October. However, like many of you my car is stuck in TBD limbo at Hermosillo. My deposit is refundable so I thought I would test drive a few other cars while I waited. After driving a C-Max SEL with the Sony audio system I am starting to wonder if the stock Fusion SE audio system will cut it for me. I know I will eventually be able to get the Sony audio system in the titanium hybrid but the car I am replacing isn't the most reliable so I am not sure I can wait until early next year. Normally I would just opt for an aftermarket head unit and upgrade the speakers but with the Fusion having the new noise cancellation technology I am wondering if I will be locked into the current SE stock audio system? Does anybody know if it is possible to switch out the audio system in the Fusion SE without the noise cancellation going crazy? Also, having only driven the Fusion SE and the C-Max, has anybody been able to compare the Sony system in the non-hybrid Fusion Titanium to the stock Fusion SE audio system? Thanks!
  10. Hey Guys, I've been checking out this forum for a few weeks in my consideration of buying a fusion and decided to join. I just placed my order on Tuesday the 20th November; Ford fusion AWD Titanium, Ruby Red with the 19" wheels and Navigation. Since my parents knew the dealer he said he would give it to us at cost. I ended up signing up to pay 34,450 or so which brought it up to 38,475 with Ontario tax. He said it could take 6-8 weeks to deliver but I've been seeing a lot of people saying its taking forever and a day to get theirs so I'm not sure how accurate his estimate was. Its my first car ever and I plan on keeping it for at least 5years, I've never bought anything this expensive so I was wondering if I got a good deal, is anyone here paying less? Should I go back and try to bargain some more? Tips? Thanks for any feedback, David.
  11. I must have done something right somewhere along the way - dealer just called and during the day today located an identical Fusion Ti to my order nearby. New VIN: 3FA6P0K96DR122021 Build Date - 9/14/2012 Looks like I'll be able to pick it up early next week. Ingot Silver Moonroof W/Univ. Garage Door Opener Adaptive Cruise Nav Driver Assist Pics will be posted upon receipt !
  12. Hi Guys I am a newbe to the site, but not to Ford. I just ordered a 2012 Fusion with the 2.0L ecoboost to replace my 98 Taurus.
  13. Last year it was time to part with my 2000 Taurus. As much as I loved that car, it seemed to reach the point where one thing after another was going wrong. I took it to my local Ford dealer’s service dept. one morning to check out a new rattle, and found out it was going to cost more than I wanted to spend to repair it. I made an on-the-spot decision to trade in the Taurus and drove home a 2012 Fusion that afternoon. I couldn’t be happier. The question is, if my Taurus had lasted a year or so longer, would I now replace it with a 2013 Fusion? I’m not one of the people who were instantly impressed by the styling of the new Fusion. In several previous posts I’ve been skeptical of the high beltline and wide center console, but my opinions had only been based on photos and videos. For the first time this morning, while at the dealer for an oil change, I had the opportunity to spend some time with a 2013 Fusion in the showroom. While I didn’t get to drive one, I was able to sit inside and form a better opinion. On the outside, yes, it is a good looking car. There were no surprises seeing the car in person, as I’ve seen photos of just about every angle online. It was the interior that concerned me the most. The interior, I have to say, is very comfortable and inviting. The cloth seats are much smoother and softer than those in my 2012 (not sure about durability), and it’s noticeably wider. It actually felt, in size, comparable to being inside the 2000 Taurus. To me, the upper door frames and seals also look very similar to those on the 1996-2006 Taurus. That’s a good thing. The car I sat in had no moonroof (I’m 6’4” tall, so I never buy a car with a moonroof because I don’t want to give up the headroom). There was enough headroom to allow me to raise the power driver’s seat to a position where outward visibility all around was actually very good and my head was still far enough away from the headliner. While the center stack is wider, higher, and more intrusive than I’d like, it’s not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. The tray and power outlet under the control panel is nice, but it’s awkward to get to with the shifter in the way, and reaching around to the side openings isn’t very easy. Also, I found the left foot rest to be too close to the door opening, not allowing my leg to stretch out as much as in the 2012, something that the sales manager said others at the dealership had already noticed. Oh, by the way, for 2010-2012 Fusion owners that complained about the sun visors being sprung to only stay in 2 positions – either up on the ceiling or all the way out to the windshield – that problem is gone. The new sun visors will stay anywhere in between. The rear seat was comfortable. Anyone under 6’ tall would have plenty of room, even with the driver’s seat where I placed it for my long legs. What really surprised and disappointed me, however, was the trunk. I already knew it was less roomy than the 2012, but I wasn’t expecting to see that the rear deck lid only lifts up as high as my shoulders. To get anything in or out I would have to bend down and duck under the lid. I’ve never had to do that with any other car! I took the picture to show how the opening is actually more horizontal than vertical, due to the swooping rear window. For what it’s worth, there’s a handle on the left side that lets you pull the lid down from the inside, without having to touch the outside. Just a couple more small points; I was concerned about how far the side mirrors stick out, especially when navigating in and out of a standard garage door opening or when parked outside a busy shopping center, but they do fold in. I especially like the keyless entry keypad hidden in the upper door frame of the driver’s door, and how it’s standard on the SE. That’s something I actually use a lot. Again, I didn’t get to drive this car, but from what I’ve read, I’m sure it would be as nice as, or better than mine. So back to my original question, if timing had worked out differently and I was in the market for a new car now, would I buy the new Fusion? Yes. I’m still just as happy with my 2012, though. I wonder what the 2023 Fusion will be like.
  14. Back in January, General Motor Trend ran an article about a possible 2013 (or later) Fusion ST: http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2012/1201_daydreaming_ford_fusion_st_hatch_and_wagon/ I know these are just drawings, but they do a great job of adding Focus ST design cues onto the new Fusion. I currently drive a 2011 Fusion Sport (traded in `06 Mustang GT when the twins stopped wanting to get in the back seat) and want something sporty, quick, fun, and comfortable (I'm not as young as I used to be). I haven't seen anything about a more performance-oriented Fusion from anyone othe than MT, so I was hoping someone with some inside knowledge might know if they are at least considering one.
