  1. I bet it was on a black truck. If it was, he is actually a Jersey transplant that spent much of his time in Norfolk on the restriction or medical list. He only has I think 13-15 yrs seniority though.
  2. I recieved my buyout check in the mail yesterday. I was released on Jan.1 so everyone in that time frame should be getting theirs in the next few days. Good luck to everyone in the future.
  3. I, too, signed my seperation papers yesterday. I am done as of Jan 1st and will not be returning to the plant. I have had good and bad times at the plant but it has been a heck of a ride. I learned a lot of things about the auto industry that most people never know and the knowledge of some folks in there is tremendous. I will miss most of coworkers and even some of the management. Good luck to those transferring and keep that NAP pride. Most people in Mich. know that we were doing very well so there is no need to disappoint them. To all those starting their own businesses good luck. Starting a business can be tough but rewarding. Just keep that quality mindset and your clients will be happy. Those getting an education, good for you. I only used two years worth of ETAP and wished I had gotten smart earlier and used more of it. Education is the key to most jobs so get that degree. Finally, I know the union and I have had some disagreements over the years but that was business and not personal. I could never do their job so they deserve credit. Good luck to everyone in the future!
  4. The number for the package office is 494-2329. I called it yesterday so i know it works.
  5. We have a magic number everyday. Dayshift, according to one board is making more than its numbers and nightshift only has to make less. By my count we are building a little more than 810 units a day. We have had no major breakdowns and have started up on time everyday. Trust me if they wanted us to have the down time we would. By the way, group leaders are required to work on March shutdown.
  6. First of all about buyouts. The VP said that it may eventually be possible but they have to negotiate the buyouts with the plants that have closed or are closing. Secondly, he said that we are great in quality but unfortunately the cost of shipping parts and completed trucks is more than that. He did say we are still on for the 2009 launch. He also said there are many things they are looking at to turn the company around. One thing for sure he said was the new plant in Dearborn is not going anywhere. He also said that things could change if we can get cars to sell better. He also said that they were looking into different options to put into the trucks (diesel) and other things. He said at the end that if he were in our shoes, he would worry a little but we do have a lot of folks in Detroit pulling for us. He said that couldn't be said about all the plants. My opinion and only my opinion is that if we don't get some more land, we can look to close around 2012. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. By the way I was in the meeting from start to finish. Plant manager is supposed to give more details Friday or Monday.
  7. Norfolk was flex tooled when the body shop addition was put on.
