  1. I had decided to buy a Ranger, but I went to talk to my local shop that I trust for everything, and Nick at H3 here in Georgia when I asked my about the Ranger and Mavericks he told me that he has had no issues with Mavericks, they have been great! and the Rangers are good trucks, except the earlier version of the current generation, the 10 speed transmission tends to craps out at 80,000 miles, not all of them but enough to be an issue. He told me that Ford did some upgrades that solved the problem, so buy a Ranger post upgrade. Does anybody know when they did the upgrades so I know which years to pay attention to. I appreciate it.
  2. Hey Chris, You gave me a bit to think about, I appreciate the information, especially the parking in the garage thing, LOL Trying to squeeze an F150 next to the Wife's Edge would be problematic,
  3. I have been gone a while, didn't mean to be gone so long. I am still a Ford Enthusiast even though my Ford Plant closed down in 2006, I still drive nothing but Fords. hence my dilemma, I am looking at a newer truck because my 1999 F150 Lariat is getting long in the tooth. I an trying to decide between a 2016-2020 F150 Lariat or a 2020+ Ranger Lariat. Because I work at the Airport, I have a 40+ mile each way commute to work so fuel economy is a consideration. I have looked on the website and failed to see how people are doing on gas. The truck will be my primary ride. I am leaning toward the F150 but I can't seem to find any accurate information on fuel usage. I am interested in either a 4X2 or a 4X4 configuration, the 5.0 or the 3.5 or even the 2.7 with the 6 speed or the 10 speed tranny. then there is the Ranger, LOL If any members can give me any information, it would be appreciated.
  4. I know that this is an older post but I will add to this. I bought my wife her 2006 Freestyle limited in Dec 2005 and we had this car until 2013 when she drove it into an Expedition. The car had 181,000 miles on her with the exception of a "charging light" from the aftermarket alternator. (Yes use motorcraft parts for electrical, the newer cars are fussy) Other than that the car was excellent. She is in a Edge now and loves the Edge but she really liked the Freestyle, I called it "looks like a station wagon on Steroids", To me the cars are underated and an excellent value.
  5. My Bad, I should have included the symptoms, She was getting a quick upshift then downshift from when she is in the 1500 RPM range. You would feel it quickly shift. I told her that the shift points must be in that area and it is trying to find the most efficient. I will have the PCm checked and the MAF cleaned though. I thank y'all for your time Bob
  6. Thanks, My wife has a 2009 Edge Limited with 50,000 miles on it and we were wondering if it was a more serious problem. I will check the PCM on the car and make sure that it is updated with the latest software fix and do the maf sensor clean. I havn't been on these boards in several years since My plant in Atlanta shut down. We still have all Fords even though I work elswhere.
  7. Hi Y'all First time I have been in here in a while. I still work near the airport and it pains me to drive by the site. I still think of what could have been. Gotta contact Moody about the BBQ he is talking about. Y'all have a good one Bob
  8. Hi Y'all( And Hendew) :shades: It has been almost 2 years since the plant closed. I took the buyout and even though it has been 2 years, I still have mixed feelings about taking the buyout. I do miss the friends I had made there and the good times I had. I have moved on but I still think well of my Ford Time and of the fellow Ford Workers still in the system. I have found employment after Ford, but the pay and benefits ain't the same. I am doing ok as an aviation painter both electrostatic and HVLP. I drive by the old plant and they are tearing the crap out of it and it does bring a pang of regret of what could have been. To all the FoMoCo employees still out there....keep rocking Y'all have a good one Bob
  9. I havn't posted here in a while, so here goes..... The biggest thing I have against the eco-radicals is that they try to push their utopian vision in the western based societies. They basically give China, india and the rest of the world a free pass on the pollution. My guess is that they protest over here because we have a rule of law that protect them whereas the other places in the world the rule is with a bullet. I noticed that after the wall came down in the 90's all the apologist for the former soviet union vanished to later reappear in the environmental movement. I do believe the eco-radicals are a continuation of the failed marxist policies that were being offered as a counter to the capitalist system that we do enjoy. We do need to be mindful of the planet, but in common sense ways. A lot of the proposals being bantered around would make little effect in the latest CO2/hydrocarbons/carbon dioxide/ ete,ete but would cripple our economy and the rest of the world would be exempt from the same requirements. If our economy gets crippled, our standard of living would drop drastically. I keep wondering if that is the ultimate goal to see the USA severely weakened economically and militarily. The free market will develop things much faster than any government enity will. Government are historically not very efficient on developing things. there is great pressure to develop alternate fuel sources from fossil fuels and it will continue. Y'all have a good one Bob
  10. I work near AAP and I see the desolation of the plant, the weeds growing up through the parking lot, the faded paint on the buildings, it is getting difficult to see the writing on the ILVS building and it is depressing since that place has a lot of good memories for me. Dammmmm is all I can say Bob
  11. Hi Scott, We have the meet every other year now due to the expenses involved. The last one was in 2006. This is my first national meet. I have been to several regional meets. I am looking forward to it. I have no reason why Ford don't include the hourly workers, I'm guessing that it is some marketing thing. It makes no sense to me. I saved your link and registered. Have a good one Bob
  12. Hi Y'all According to Google the addy is 2000 Fern valley Road#1 Hope to see it on Thursday Have a good one Bob
  13. Hi Y'all I have a tour of LAP on Thursday evening and Friday morning and I will be coming from Atlanta to go to it. It is part of the Sport trac National meet. I am excited of course to see the place where my 'trac was built. I also am looking forward to it because a lot of my fellow co-workers and friends did transfer to LAP when they closed AAP, so I am hoping to see some familiar faces when I do the tour. I do need an address for LAP so I can google it and get directions to it. Y'all have a good one and thanks a lot Bob
  14. If you can get some pics or some details of the car, that would be cool. I still have a soft spot for the Taurus. B) Have a good one Bob
  15. I was a bit angry at FoMoCo for closing AAP also. But as far as I'm concerned, Ford did treat us OK during that time. I miss my friends at AAP and the good times. I still drive a Ford and would buy another when the time comes. Y'all have a good one Bob
