Without having purchased the extended warranty? Had it towed to mechanic already

I had a fire under my hood yesterday. It was located near the battery terminal under hood but under the dash side of the battery. 1) Windshield wipers randomly turned on. I was able to turn them off a few times but eventually the wipers would not turn off. 2) Turned engine off and back on at a stop light to get the wipers to turn off. 3) Smelt burning while driving. Pulled over and opened hood to discover a flame back under the dash near the battery terminal. I find no active recalls for this issue. Bought my 2015 Escape used from North park Lexus @ the Dominion but apparently failed to purchase the extended warranty though i am under 60000 miles still. Can anyone offer any information about this? Thank you, Ms.Vicki
