  1. How to kill the Mustang = put 4 doors on it. Done! Then you just throw it in the same Escort ditch
  2. I suggest as names "Quarab" or "KONIK", which are names of horse breeds
  3. The U.S, car industry as a whole is expected to have a unit sales decline in April compared to the same month last year. No large car manufacturer is expected to post results as poor as Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F). The numbers indicate why Ford is expected to exit the car market altogether in favor of trucks and sport utility vehicles. According to Cox Automotive, overall sales are expected to drop 3.6% to 1,370,000. Fords are forecast to fall 7.2% for the same period to 198,000. That means Ford will barely hang on to the number two spot behind leader General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM), the sales of which are expected to rise 0.2% for the same period to 245,000. Moving up on Ford, Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM) sales are expected to be 194,000, down 3.9% month compared to the same month last year. Commenting on Fords decision, Michelle Krebs, an executive analyst at Autotrader, said: Fords announcement yesterday that it plans to wind down sales of its core cars lines Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and Taurus is a bold and risky move. Its an indication tough decisions are being made. It is, nevertheless, a bold move by a desperate company. Other top manufacturers are also expected to have a rough month. However, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (NYSE: FCAU) is not among them. Its sales are expected to fall only 0.7% to 175,000. Kelley Blue Book Executive Analyst Rebecca Lindland said: I expect another strong month from the Jeep brand. The new products are driving strong sales and, considering FCAs recent Q1 results, powering the bottom line as well. Of late, Jeep seems to be holding up the entire FCA tent. Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (NYSE: HMC) sales are expected to drop 6.1% to 130,000. Nissans are expected to be down 6.6% to 114,000. If there is any broad lesson from the April forecast, it is that the U.S. auto market has reached a top and is sliding back down. https://247wallst.com/autos/2018/04/28/ford-sales-expected-to-suffer-in-april/
  4. Model E and Mach 1 are not the same vehicle
  5. Ford’s recently confirmed decision to phase out almost its entire car lineup in the U.S., except for the Mustang and the upcoming Focus Active, to put most of its efforts into SUVs and trucks, has raised questions about the other two of the Detroit Three automakers. Fiat Chrysler has already made a pretty big commitment to trucks and SUVs in its decision to phase out the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart and invest more heavily in Jeep and Ram, but what about the biggest of the three, General Motors? According to Reuters, GM CFO Chuck Stevens said the conglomerate has “already indicated that we will make significantly lower investments” in sedans in North America in a conference call with investors. He went on to say that GM executives “look at these car lines on a weekly basis, at how to drive performance (and) cost efficiencies.” So every week GM execs get together to decide if they want to kill the Volt and the Impala. Those are just two models that have already been rumored to be axed, the others being the Chevy Sonic (which is reportedly already on death row), Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, and Cadillac XTS. But GM making “significantly lower investments” in sedans for the U.S. doesn’t necessarily mean they’re dead. For example, Chevy just gave a moderate facelift to the Spark, Cruze, and Malibu which means those cars are likely safe, at least for a few years. It’s easy to forget about the Chevy Spark, but it holds a fairly significant market share in the city car segment and with the Focus and Fusion soon to be out of the way, that just means more market share by default for the Cruze and Malibu. Think about it. A few years from now, if you want a compact or midsize car from a non-luxury American brand, Chevy will be your only option. The smallest Dodge car you can get is the Charger and Ford is exiting the game almost entirely. That means a good chunk of market share in those segments, although they’re declining, is Chevy’s for the taking. As for Buick, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it turn completely into a crossover brand. That’s what its clientele wants and Buick is doing a pretty good job catering to that market. If the Impala is eliminated, there would be no reason to continue making the LaCrosse with which it shares a platform. There’s also the issue of the Buick Regal being based on the Opel Insignia and GM no longer owning Opel. That’s probably another one that will be killed off after its current life cycle is up. As for the future of Cadillac sedans, GM’s luxury brand still has some serious catching up to do in terms of crossovers. Last we heard, the XTS was going to die out at the end of its current life cycle with no replacement, the CTS and ATS are going to be replaced with one sedan called the CT5, and another, smaller sedan would be added to the lineup to compete with the likes of the Audi A3 and BMW 2-Series. However, that plan was under recently ousted CEO Johan de Nysschen so the whole thing could be scrapped for all we know. So, don’t expect GM to give up on sedans and small cars quite yet, especially now that all of this juicy market share is up for grabs thanks to Ford. http://www.thedrive.com/news/20462/gm-to-make-significantly-lower-investments-in-sedans-in-north-america
  6. I can't like this piece of ugly plastic under the headlights, which resembles a clipping. As bad as the bizarre UX
  7. What's changed? I didn't see it! Could I swear that this is the current ES.
  8. I believe it is a matter of time before the CUVs and SUVs coupes start to grow in the market. Mercedes has already revealed a concept of crossover sedan, even many consider a freak. Crosstour was a vehicle launched in the wrong time, where cars were worth more than CUVs and SUVs
  9. I can't believe Ford is going to go back so far in a misjudged decision like that.
  10. Perhaps a variant, as occurs with GLE and GLE coupe. I'm starting to think it's risky, too. But X4 and X6 are not references in design. I always thought these cars very ugly (the whole line BMW X)
  11. 2019? Finally! I believe that if Lincoln advances too much in front of the competitors in China, it can boost new car launches, and maybe sports versions of SUV and CUV
  12. I believe that this can become a differential in the face of competition
  13. Any word on when the Chinese Lincoln factory is inaugurated? I think that should be a priority
  14. Perhaps already use the 3.3 T engine seen in those oil specs. I like to see that Lincoln will follow a younger coupes style, even if it is in a CUV. By the way, do you want something more jovial and millennium than a CUV?
  15. Ford recently revealed plans to eliminate its entire sedan lineup in North America so naturally there were questions about whether or not Lincoln would follow suit. Thankfully were getting some answers as a spokesperson told Automobile Magazine the company is committed to both the Continental and MKZ. The mention of the latter model is interesting as Ford will drop the Fusion in North America. Carsalesbase data shows Lincoln sold 27,387 MKZs in the United States last year and this was a significant decline from the 34,009 units that were sold in 2014. It remains unclear why Ford would want to keep the model around especially when its axing the Fusion which sold 209,623 units last year. Regardless of the companys reasoning, previous reports have suggested the MKZ successor will be launched in 2020. Little is known the sedan but it will likely be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Continentals future is a bit clearer as the company reportedly used the National Automobile Dealers Association convention to confirm plans to bring back the suicide rear doors. Theres no word on timing, so it remains unclear if Lincoln will offer suicide rear doors on the current Continental or wait until the next-generation model which is due in 2022. Like the MKZ successor, the next Continental is expected to have a plug-in hybrid option. Lincoln is the midst of a major product push as the companys president recently confirmed plans for five new or redesigned models besides the Aviator. Details remain elusive but the company has already confirmed plans for an new crossover and an MKC successor. https://www.carscoops.com/2018/04/lincoln-committed-sedans-despite-fords-decision-drop/
  16. While crossovers have been a thing for more than a decades now, the crossover coupe niche isnt as big, despite BMW having started the trend with the X6 back in 2007. But more and more automakers are joining the market and Lincoln is now the latest manufacturer that wants a piece of the action. The new crossover coupe will most likely get its juice from Fords small-displacement EcoBoost gasoline engines, but it will also benefit from Fords hybrid gasoline-electric powertrains, which will help the brand meet Chinas stringent targets for electrified vehicles. https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/the-crossover-coupe-nighmare-continues-as-lincoln-is-plans-to-produce-its-own-crossover-coupe-ar180813.html
  17. The withdrawal of Fusion will help and much to Lincoln and his Z midsize sedan
  18. My boyfriend had an '09 Edge for two years. The car devalued quite a bit during that period
  19. On April 15, 2013, Ford and General Motors signed an agreement to jointly use automatic transmissions developed by the two automakers. The Blue Ovals part of the deal was to share its own 10-speed gearbox catering rear-wheel-drive cars with GM and in return have access to a 9-speed box to be used in FWD models. Check out models using the nine-speed auto: 2017 Chevy Malibu | Why Buy? Refreshed 2019 Buick Envision Adds Nine-Speed Automatic However, the Hydra-Matic 9T50 seen here and originally introduced on Chevy models with the 2017 Malibu, 2017 Cruze Diesel, and the 2018 Equinox will not find its way inside a Ford. Instead, the company has opted to use an eight-speed box for models like the Edge and the MKX-replacing Lincoln Nautilus. Why the change of heart? Because Ford believes GMs transmission is not efficient enough to offset the extra weight commanded by the additional gear. Not only that, but it also argues that it doesnt justify the increased cost required to adapt it for the Ford models. Fords gearbox is part of a series of three eight-speed transmissions, with one being based on GMs nine-speed and another based on a six-speed co-developed with GM to be used on sportier models like the V6-powered Nautilus and the Edge ST. Theres also a third version for smaller cars featuring engines generating a lower amount of torque. Interestingly, the report goes on to mention Fords decision to use an eight-speed instead of a nine-speed was actually made before General Motors began implementing it on the production cars mentioned above. While final fuel economy numbers are not available at the moment of writing for the cars using Fords eight-speed, the company is confident it will be able to match the efficiency of GMs nine-speed. The Transit Connect and Wagon models fitted with the new turbodiesel 1.5-liter EcoBlue engine are both estimated to return 30 miles per gallon on the highway. https://www.motor1.com/news/239934/ford-refuses-use-gm-automatic-transmission/
  20. They should fix the current nomenclature of the Cadilllac models, which is the most messy in history. "CTS, XT5, Escalade
  21. The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic cars ever build and there are many reasons for that. The innovative approach in the 1960s, the performance, the sales success, and its legacy on the race track have all contributed to the legend. But the nameplate also went through drastic changes. The second-gen model is now hated for turning the muscle car into a mundane compact, while the fourth-gen Mustang was this close to becoming a front-wheel drive car. The modern Mustang is again a symbol that brings together performance and affordability, but the nameplate is in for major changes in the near future. We already know that the pony will get a hybrid drivetrain in 2019, but it seems that Ford is considering offering the Mustang with all-wheel drive and as an EV. The EV version is reportedly scheduled to arrive with the next-generation model. With the current-gen pony set to get a hybrid for the 2020 model year, its safe to assume that the seventh-gen Mustang wont be here sooner than 2022. The same goes for the all-wheel-drive system, which wont make it into the Mustang until Ford redesigns the car from the ground up. the Mustang is a gasoline-only car by tradition, and its difficult to picture it with a different drivetrain, but times have changed, and the nameplate needs to adapt in order to survive. Just like a four-cylinder engine seemed like a silly idea decades ago, electrification in a Mustang might seem strange for most enthusiasts. But, its part of the nameplates evolution now, and it will become a reality soon. I get that hardcore fans hate the idea of an all-electric Mustang, but a battery-powered car will most definitely have solid performance and unprecedented torque. The sprint to 60 mph will be quicker than ever with this model, so performance wont be sacrificed for the sake of going green. Sure, the roar of the V-8 engine will be replaced by the humming of an electric motor, so there is one thing to get used to, but think of the savings youll be making by not stopping at the gas station. s obviously too early to talk about versions here, but given the fact that the Mustang usually spawns various performance versions, theres a big chance Ford will develop a Shelby equivalent of the Mustang EV. Unless the company is also planning an electric supercar based on the GT, the Mustang could compete with Tesla models in its range-topping spec. Hitting the 60-mph benchmark in less than three seconds is easier to achieve in an electric Mustang than a gasoline model. Just saying. s, things may get even weirder in the future. According to Motor1, Ford may also be planning an SUV based on the Mustang. The idea belongs to Ford Global Markets president Jim Farley, who also hinted that this vehicle will have all-electric power. Whats more, the crossover could be launched with a "Mach 1" badge. It sure seems like an awkward decision to kill the performance-oriented Mustang Mach 1 in favor of an electric SUV, but Ford must have some sort of plan. And, with SUVs now overwhelmingly popular in the U.S., the company could get away with such a move. Naturally, this SUV and the next-gen Mustang EV will share drivetrains. https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/ford-considering-awd-and-all-electric-powertrain-for-the-next-gen-mustang-ar180892.html
