  1. You didnt read the article: "So, no, don't expect a big V8 solely for America, and an electrified turbo-four for Europe in the same car. Pericak pointed to the Mustang's future as a perfect example of these exact discussions going on right now." "What we would never do is compromise," he declared. "If it's a Mustang, it'll be a Mustang. Whatever is offered will be a Mustang and live up to the Mustang expectation."
  2. This Ford executive is announcing the death of the V8! At least, the death of the V8 for the Mustang... and those are shocking news. Maybe in terms of power doesnt mean too much, because Ford can get enough power from its V6 , I4 and hybrids engines, and the GT, the Navigator and the Aviator are the demostration that you dont need 8 cylinders to get power... but is a shocking moment when you realize that the ICE engines are starting to die.
  3. The first casualty of the Explorer debacle. I said it, the failed Explorer launch was a very important factor in the dismal financial results. Hau Thai Tang: " CEO Jim Hackett that has taken on additional urgency in the wake of a poor financial performance in the fourth quarter. Much of the hit came from a poor launch of the new Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator at the Chicago Assembly Plant." The next casualty maybe (must be, IMO) Hackett. Bill must be looking for a new CEO right now.
  4. Is a beautiful machine. But, seriously, why right now? Just when Ford post the dismal 2019 financial results. Is this what the customers are waiting for? A 150000$ production limited race car? Oh.... I cant believe it.
  5. Oh... nice.... Ford fans expecting to see the Bronco, the Baby Bronco or the new F series... and Ford will show them........ a refreshed GT! hahahahahahahaa!
  6. The new Escalade is better than the previous generation, with more interior space, but not enough to match the interior of the Navigator. The 2nd and 3rd row have more room in the Navigator than in the Escalade. The dash, with that huge screen in the Escalade is better than in the Navigator, but we must understand that each new car on the market henceforth will have bigger screens, until we reach the point where all cars have the entire dashboard full of screens (continuous or in parts). I´m sure the next Lincolns will have bigger screens. If you ask me, I choose the Lincoln...
  7. I see a big problem in the operational area of Ford. The Chicago plant must be scrutinized. Why did the Explorers and Aviators assembled there go out with serious defects, to the point of having to send them to another plant to fix them? So serious were the problems that could not be solved there? Is there any degree of sabotage by workers? Who supervised this plant? Why they didn't realize what was happening, or, if they realized, why didn't they act? Hackett knew that the company's flagship product (apart from the F-series truck), the one that should leave the most juicy profits and maintain the market share, was being built that way, damaging the image of the product and the brand? There are many things that I do not understand, and I am sure, that in the future we will know what happened and it will be seen in its true magnitude as to damaged Ford this failed launch. Even Hackett points it out as the cause of the financial results! This will be the size of the debacle! And this in only a part of the "Explorer debacle". The poor and horrible interior design, with bad quality materials, the use of a platform dedicated only for this product (in a costly decision), the wrong price policy (when we see the bad quality materials of the interior...) add some aspects to this problem. Is evident that the Explorer interior needs an urgent redesign (more money invested...) to keep a decent sales numbers... and the price must go down (less money for Ford...), because the competition is hard, offering better products, with better quality at lower price. 2019 was a horrible year. I hope Ford learn from the mistakes, and the launch of the Mach E, Bronco , new F series and Baby Bronco will be better than the Explorer launch. Ford cant make more mistakes.
  8. I agree with you, it didnt. But it generated losses, when Ford expected it will generate some profits. And you know it.
  9. Maybe you need to get better information before to say that. In Europe some products are selling well. The Fiesta is the best selling car in UK. The Fiesta, the Focus , the Ranger pick up and the commercial vehicles are good products that sell in good numbers in Europe. The problem with Ford of Europe is that the people movers (S-Max, Galaxy, C-Max) was arround for longer than necessary. All automakers changed their people movers (vans) for crossovers or SUVs, but Ford. Ford is starting to do it with the new Puma, a Fiesta based crossover that will take the place of the B-Max and C-Max. Then, will come the Baby Bronco, that will add a new crossover to the Ford line up. The Edge failed in Spain. The Explorer will be here in some months, but in an hybrid version. The new Kuga (Escape) just debuted some weeks ago. Ford of Europe will be in better shape this year and , for sure, will generate more profits. The 3-cyl engine of Ford is the basic powerplant for almost the entire line of Europe, and is a very good engine, with many "engine of the year" awards, so, think again before to say things like that.
  10. And the other 1.4 billions by why? Because Hacketts plan to replace all cars with SUVs is not working. You can take the pension fund expenses as an excuse now. But in the 1rst and 2nd quarter of 2020 I want to know what will be your excuses. I´m a Ford fan, but I can see that the plan is not working. Not yet. Not with the new Explorer, and barely with the new Escape.
  11. The Explorer, a vehicle that was a cash cow for Ford in the past, almost send Ford to bankrupcy in 2019. A vehicle that uses a platform used only by it (and the Aviator...), a vehicle that must be the new "family car" for Ford, replacing the Taurus and the Fusion, is a vehicle that is selling worst than the previus generation and a vehicle which had a completely disastrous launch, where the cars already assembled had to be sent to another plant to be repaired, which consumed millions of dollars. This Explorer/Aviator disaster is the complete responsibility of Hackett, of no one else. His team of operations has not done the work for which he is hired, he has had to intervene on time or fire them. Now who should leave is Hackett.
  12. With the current line of crossovers and SUVs (compact , 2-row medium size, 3-row medium size and big vehicles) Lincoln almost had one for every single niche of the market, but the coupe crossovers. This Rivian based big crossover should be a coupe like vehicle, like the BMW X6 or Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Lincoln need a new flagship and a coupe vehicle is the perfect one. How about the Mark name for this?
  13. This article is a piece of she et. Ford is in the middle of new releases, with new vehicles that will change the market. The Mustang Mach E caused a media revolution few months ago, the Bronco sub-brand will change the SUV market, taking a part of the Jeep sales, the new F series, with electric variants ,will be the most important truck launch in decades. The Lincoln brand is in its best shape since the 70´s. And all that despite its CEO who, I agree, is not delivering what the share holders and Wall Street want. I dont like Hackett. IMO, he has a comunication problem. He cant inspire confidence in consumers and share holders. And some faults in the operational area (the rugged and terrible launch of the Explorer) are unacceptable. But Ford is not in bankcrupcy risk. Definitly not. A new CEO? This will make me happy. And could make shareholders happy, too.
  14. Of course, Tesla is not a luxury car. At least, not all Teslas are luxury cars. Maybe, only maybe, the Model S is a luxury car for the size and amenities. But de Model 3 definitly is not a luxury car. Are Teslas expensives? Yes! But a high price dont classify a vehicle as a luxury vehicle. Take, for example, the F-350 Super Duty Dually in a high trim form. The price of this truck is near the 80000$. Is the F-350 truck a luxury vehicle? Answer that question and you can understand why Teslas ( all Teslas...) are not luxury cars. And is completly stupid to say that the Tesla Model 3 compete with BMW 3 series... The luxury doesnt come with the price, come with the brand heritage, quality, materials, amenities and equipment.
  15. Yes. Decontenting the vehicles, maybe designing it with unispiring style and almost identical as the old model, interiors with a lot of black hard plastic and horribles air vents and screens, with an body structure that cant pass the safety test.... Oh..... That vehicle already exist... is the new Ford Explorer!
  16. Very decent trucks. Looks atractive, the interior are very nice (and compared with the Explorer interior, these are beautiful!). GM will sell a lot of this things...
  17. The new Explorer is a fail. An epic fail. Is very good on paper, a very good platform with RWD, good powerplants but the design is not as good as it can be with that platform. The designers cant do anything that be relevant. The new Explorer looks too much like the old model. The front end is not atractive, the rear end is only OK, and the interior is horrible, and looks cheap. The design get a 5 from 10 scale. Now, the launch. I dont remember a mess like the Explorer (and Aviator...) launch . Was (or is....) a complete disaster. Fails in quality, vehicles repurchased by Lincoln... Then, the price. Why you ask a lot of money for a vehicle as mediocre as this? And the customers will pay it? I doubt it. And now this? The new Explorer cant get a top safety mark? Why? Why? And Ford pretend to survive without cars with this kind of SUVs/crossovers? The responsibles for this nightmare deserve to lose their job.
  18. I want the new Mustang with the "C" shaped false scoop at the rear of the doors, a feature that identifies the Mustang since its inception.
  19. And this is really good?. We all know that Ford (and GM) are losing market share since they stop selling small cars. And the new Ford products (Explorer, Aviator) are very good on paper, but a disaster on execution. We know about the serious quality problems of those models. Yesterday, I read some informations that Lincoln is repurchasing many Aviators with serious defects. Ford needs to rethink its plan and try to execute it the best way . The Explorer/Aviator fiasco is unforgivable. Imagine the same disastrous launch with the Mustang Mach E... or the Bronco. All the work lost.
  20. I want to know what a Minnesota farmer thinks about this "thing"...
  21. I said yesterday in this forum that a Shelby Mustang Mach E would be among Ford's options for the future ... Ford it didn't take long to announce it
  22. Marketing ploy? Of course! A very good marketing ploy. The interest in the Mustang Mach E on the internet is double that of the interest in the ID when VW launched it...
  23. Not really. ? Maybe there are some who do not understand or do not read what they copy and place here. Some of the comments selected are not the best for a new vehicle... that is all. Read it again...
  24. Maybe for a future , more powerfull ,Shelby Mustang Mach E ... Ford is keeping its option under wraps
  25. You are a genius! Ford ruined a name with a car that is not in the market yet? Let the car be finished, launched and in the market... let the car show its capabilities and then you can say Ford ruined something. Ok?
