  1. I've been around long enough to see and understand manufacturing processes. This car is a color that was new to the factory and to date none have been delivered. I would take a stock car if any dealers would have the winter package. Even dealers in the mountain states and upper Midwest seldom order the package. The late color availability and winter package are the issues. Apparently the ship is loaded with high value Lexus and Infinity vehicles headed to the east coast. My low cost Ford is just along for the ride. Edward
  2. Big change in my guesstimate for delivery of my EcoSport to the Los Angeles area. Boarded the RO RO ship March 9th in India then visited many ports including at least 5 in Japan. Finally left Nagoya Japan today but it's heading to the Panama Canal instead of the West coast! This will add at least three extra weeks. This vehicle was originally input last August and my latest guess is delivery by May 15th. Going back to 1976 I've taken delivery of an ordered vehicle in as few as 5 weeks including shipping across the country. Edward
  3. Order update FWD Titanium Winter PKG 08/XX/2017 Order was input by dealer 02/21/2018 Assembly Complete 02/22/2018 Released From Factory 03/09/2018 Shipboard 03/25/2018 Mikawa Seaport Japan 04/08/2018 San Francisco Seaport, My estimate for 30 days at sea. 04/16/2018 At Los Angeles area dealer, My estimate 04/17/2018 Ready for delivery to customer. My estimate Apparently the RO-RO ship is continually loading and unloading at multiple ports. Since leaving India it has visited Singapore, Indonesia, and 4 ports in Japan. Edward
  4. Ford just put the EcoSport live on both the Ford and X-Plan sites with pricing. I'm still thinking about one. More or less decided on the Titanium FWD. Edward
  5. The "S" base model has only 3 factory choices to be made. First is FWD or 4WD, second is a real tailgate spare, and third is the exterior color. All other options are dealer install which can be ordered and installed after delivery. Assuming that you don't want the spare the dealers will definitely stock Diamond White FWD S's. So you wouldn't want or need to special order. Dealers in California never stock the cold weather package so I will need to special order. Over the years I have purchased 4 special orders. The rest of the times I took what was available and once with a dealer trade.
  6. I special ordered my 2015 Focus SE with the SE EcoBoost® Package in Race Red. It was a beautiful combination of utility, comfort, economy, and fun to drive. Only available for the second half of the 2015 model year. It's now the daughter-in-law's daily driver. I am leaning very strongly towards ordering a 2018 EcoSport SE FWD P1T with the Convenience pkg 47B, Cold Weather Pkg 475, 17" Wheels 646, Race Red PQ with the Ebony Black interior PB. Edward
  7. Thank you for the link. It says exactly what I was hoping for, a real automatic! I own a 2015 Fusion 1.5 EcoBoost 6F35 and it's extremely well mannered. I also own a 2015 Focus 1.0 EcoBoost 6-speed with the sport pkg, it's a blast to drive. I also test drove a 2016 Focus HB 1.0 EcoBoost 6F15, that vehicle is very close in size and weight to the 2018 EcoSport. I think that I will be very satisfied with the FWD EcoSport. Thank You Again.
  8. My most important question is which automatic transmissions will be installed. The Order Guide states 447 for FWD and 446 for 4WD with the same descriptions. The one question that I have about the transmission is if it is a DCT auto shift or a true torque converter automatic. Every article that I have read including Ford's press releases says 6-speed automatic. To date in American cars the only automatic 1.0 EcoBoost had the 6F15 which is a true automatic. All other Fiestas and Focuses have the DCT 6-speed auto shift transmission.
  9. I didn't specify colors for pricing on WBDO. The system defaulted to Diamond White exterior and Ebony Black interior on both the SE and Titanium. Diamond White is not shown on the Fleet Guide but is shown on the Order Guide as code ZA available in all trim levels.
  10. My guy priced a fully equiped SE and a Titanium both with FWD. Higher than I expected until I compared them to Ford's marketing thrust. The EcoSport has a lot of standard equipment that is optional or not even available on the competition. I really want to bite the bullet and order it now.
