  1. You guys won't believe it!!! I got my 2014 Explorer Sport back on Monday 5/12!!!! Here's what I was told. First they were unable to repeat the problem of the car losing power so they couldn't fix it. I brought up everything people have mentioned here to the shop manager and everything was turned down as no that's not it, no that's not the problem, or that only happened on this or that model , so that was useless. So then when I pick it up he says we replaced the fan with the original fan model that it came with not the new redesigned model because those aren't available yet. Thought the bearing grind did stop, he said I can go back when the new fan design is in and get it replaced. Also he said that if Ford Corporate would have let him use the original fan part # then I could have had my vehicle back in 3 or 4 days NOT 34 days!!! Go figure that one out!! So Ford Corporate wanted me to get a VDR (Vehicle data Recorder) from the dealership. Well they have none and their regional tech doesn't have any extras. I have since contacted Jeff at Corporate and left 3 voicemails with no call backs since Monday and it is now Thursay letting him know I need him to get me a VDR ESPECIALLY since we are going on the cross country road trip and travel over 6000 miles round trip!!! Once he calls, I will tell him to get me a VDR or if I have another problem no matter how minor or major, I will turn the car in as a LEMON and decide what to do from there. We're really happy to have our car back and I thought I'd never be so happy to see her I'm really hoping I have no issues and really hoping that corporate can give me a VDR. Stay tuned for a followup possibly after June 12 when I return from our trip!! Thanks to all who assisted us during this time !!!
  2. Hey thanks so much into looking into this for much appreciated. Here is the last 8 of my VIN: EGB53864 I have a feeling my part will be "B" but let's see. If it's "A" are you saying there are some in stock in sac and sj? Are those the redesigned p/n's or just left covers prior to redesign? Thanks again!
  3. Are dealers allowed to take one off one on the lot??? If so is the fan the same on the non-sport explorer as it is on the sport ?? I will ask dealership.
  4. No my lose of power when driving it, is a different issue. Since I had it in the shop, I told them to check out the fan because as it spun down, it would squeak making it sound like a $5 pinto.....now they are telling me they are hanging on to it because the fan is being redesigned but there are no bulletins yet on it so no idea when it will be ready. He just said he could find none in stock anywhere in the country. Do you have the engine cooling fan assembly for a '14 Explorer Sport where you are? If so please send it lol.
  5. I've mentioned this on my other post as part of my problem, but I'm reaching out to Ford Employees on here who can tell me what's up with this so called "redesign" of the engine cooling fan?? The corporate guy is telling me there are no bulletins released from engineering so he has no time line on when it will be ready?? Please help...is this true or smoke screen?? And can I call him out on it? He also said the current fan is not in stock ANYWHERE in the country!!!
  6. So I spoke with Ford corporate regional mgr. I told him my trip was coming up on May 24 and asked if there was anyway they could give me my car back with a VDR to record incident since they can't have it occur. He said yes but my other problem with the engine cooling fan is concerning. He says he hasn't had a complaint a issue about the fan making squeaking noise when it spins downs after the car is turned off. So he said if they don't get fan replaced the fan can break/stop working during my trip and then my car will over heat!!!! So I asked him what is taking so long to replace the fan??? He said the original has a flaw and is being redisgned. He has nothing from engineering on when the redesign of fan will be complete and when it will go into production. Sooooooo not only has it now been there for 33 days straight, there is nooooooo time quote he can give me when fan will be completed. So I can't get my car back at this time and more than likely won't before trip!!! Can any FORD EMPLOYEES tell me what's up with the engine cooling fan redesign??? As for a rental Jeff from Corporate says he only has a certain amount of money then that's it no more rental! He said if I get a explorer rental on my own, then put it on my credit card and he will see about reimbursing me, but depending on how much he may be only able to cover up to a certain amount!! Does this make sense to everyone? Or what are my option besides lemon law?? What should they pay for if anything if I keep the explorer?? Should they pay me my month of payments?? Thanks!! Mike
  7. From what I hear they have to by law label it as a lemon and they can resell it as long as they list what is wrong and what has been corrected. They will probably auction it off or sell it off to a used car dealership!
  8. Ya I plan on making payments still. I've already spoken to a GREAT law firm that deals with lemon law issues. I should in the end get all my monthly payments back as well as my original down payment. I plan on getting another 2014 or 2015. I already spoke to the dealership who by the was has been EXCELLENT!!! The dealership is now looking for another vehicle for me while I wait to hear from Ford. As per Ford it can take a few weeks for a decision, but I don't see a problem. The only issues I'm having right now is explaining to the family how we might not be able to take a cross country trip as planned this summer with our new car Thanks to you all for the information.
  9. Well ladies and gentleman.......It's D-Day....this Wednesday 5/7/2014 will be 30 days that my 2014 Explorer with 3500 miles on it has been in the shop. And according to Ford there is no estimate....zero...nothing....nada on when the new fan design will be ready to ship out !!!! So I might not even see this thing for another month or 2!!! Also don't forget this isn't even looking at the main issue regarding the vehicle practically stalling on me. Unfortunately I've spoken with the Ford Regional manager that I've been working with and I've been kind and patient but to be honest with you making a full months payment on a car that I don't even have kinds of gets under my skin. Sooooo on that note when I spoke to the Regional Manager I told him I think I'm ready to file for a Lemon Law buy back. I really do enjoy my 2014 Explorer Sport, so I think I might give it another go....I just think there is a major issue with the one I have that they cannot resolve. So the Regional Manager said he would call me back tomorrow on how it will all work and it usually take 15 days average to get full response from Ford on what they will do. To be honest I'm on the fence because my car is somewhat still new and I'm not sure if I can get as good as a deal if I get a new one (incentives wise). I'll update all when I hear back.
  10. Also thinking about it...the type of people I'd hate to really deal with are the sue happy one's who instead of reaching out and making all parties aware, just blindside everyone and sue.
  11. Complaint to NHTSA doesn't work like that. I was concerned about that as well. All it does is put it on NHTSA's radar and they monitor any further complaints that come in that complain about the same or similar issues and if they see it is a problem, then they begin the investigation. This is for EVERYONE's safety and like someone mentioned before, just because you haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it's NOT a issue. After my major car accident in 2007 I'm a lot more cautious. This is NOTHING against Ford as they have been great so far, this is just to start a record so that if someone else puts in the problem, they aren't the only one. This information was given to me by Beth at NHTSA. BTW....I'm actually really easy going and giving them all the time they need and handing over the car on Tuesday for them to look at it as long as they need, and to be honest I've been friendly/patient if anything. I work at home so needing a car isn't a issue....what is a issue is knowing that a problem exists and I just want it repaired prior to my long family trip.
  12. Nowadays nothing surprises me. Being only 36 I remember how good customer service use to be it seems like almost every place you go nowadays people hate their jobs and hate dealing with people even more. Like I mentioned before, I've been a GM guy all my life...GM isn't what it use to be.....this is why I went looking elsewhere and gave Ford a try.....so we will see in the end how well a single customer like myself is dealt with. Even now with this issue I'm still glad I got the explorer but this is all still new being in it for only 3 months now.
  13. All just wanted to update all that I just go off the phone with Bradley from Ford Corporate Customer Service and opened up a case with him. It is Ford Reference # CAS-4217507 . I explained to him everything that has happened and I forgot to mention in here that the first time all this started happening was at around 1400-1700 miles on the vehicle. I told the Ford Rep. that I already had a appointment scheduled for next Tuesday 4/8/2014 with the Ford dealership where I purchased the vehicle. He said that after I get the vehicle back from the dealership and they tell me there is nothing they can find or they cannot repeat the problem, to give Ford Customer Service a call back and give them the reference number to let them know so that they can escalate it to Management. I'm glad they were professional and on it so far. Next step is to see how long this takes to resolve and how professional Ford remains during the entire process Then I will know for sure if I made the right decision to switch
  14. All - I just filed a complaint with on the NHTSA website. My complaint # 10576912 will be available to view withing 72 hours. I want to make sure enough attention is brought to this as I view it as a serious concern that can kill someone or a family....especially since I have 2 small girls. I've just been lucky this entire time that no cars we coming up behind me when changing lanes and that I was able to make the lane cutoff before it went from 2 to 1 lane and not had a accident with the other vehicle.
  15. How does the Lemon Law work exactly? I do have a friend who owns a BMW Z4 and a couple years ago after he took it in the 3rd or 4th time for similar issues, they gave him his entire money back that he paid for his car, all the money he spent on upgrades, all the money he spent on oil changes, tire rotations etc...and all taxes. He turned around and bought another Z4....I couldn't believe it that they gave him all that back! I think he had like 17k or 20k on the vehicle.
