  1. My 2013 MKZ has had that issue off n on for several years. At one point i had it towed to the dealer with exactly the same results as you. I now have the "open car" code taped inside the rear window so at least i can get into the car (i leave the fob inside car always) I've googled the hell outa the issue, replaced several batteries, started carrying both fobs Used Uber to get home a couple times. At one point i almost traded it in on a Lexus i was so frustrated. One google came up with other signals maybe interfering with its operation? WTF knows what causes it, Lincoln sure doesn't Good luck to you (and me) Karl Gunter Sugar Land, Texas
  2. hey guys, its been a while since i've i've posted which is good, no real big problems w/my 2013 MKZ but... Yesterday, i had new tires put on at Discount Tire. They informed me i had swollen lug nuts and replaced them all. I looked at one of the nuts and didn't see any mashed thin steel covering which could get swollen. The lug nuts LOOKED one piece. My Linc tech said he'd not heard of that on the MKZ. google says it does sometimes happen on lug nuts that have a thin steel covering I'd be VERY appreciative of any thoughts you kind folks may have, Karl Gunter
  3. I am pissed off that i really liked the looks and spec of the car, I wanted one, she would have loved one, but Lincoln couldn't then give me any real hope. I am patient enough to wait for my beloved MKZ, but felt burned by Lincoln. That ain't going to happen twice, you know the saying. The Lincoln rep at the Dec 15 show had no idea when it was going into production, not even speculation, it was presented much like a concept car. Not being able to sit in it told me they had no clear plans as to when they were going to release it. In Jan when cost build ups were available, my dealer still had no idea when it was going into production, saying things like "later this year". This STRONGLY reminded me of my MKZ which finally showed up in dealers show rooms how long after the same situation???
  4. It is a VERY pretty car. But I don't understand how production started in April, after Lincolon wouldn't let me sit in an MKC at the Houston show in mid Dec. I bought wifey a new Lexus bc Lincolon couldn't even give an estimate of when production MIGHT be started So i'm pissed off, yup.
  5. Yesterday wifey & I went to the Houston Auto Show. We were VERY disappointed that the MKC was on a turntable, "do not touch", "available sometime this summer". This reminds me of my MKZ waiting experience... The MKC would be for my wife, and we both thought it is a VERY pretty car, very nice interior (from 10-15'). I understand that the Lexus RX350 and Cadillac SRX are somewhat larger cars. My wife sees MKC, SRX, RX350 as the alternatives. The prices will be similar when loaded. Questiion: wait till sometime towards the end of 2014 or so when the MKC is really available to test drive? That is the question. Both the SRX and RX350 are very impressive, they both have excellent Houston dealers, as opposed to "lukewarm Lincoln" So here I sit I with $50 grand burning a hole in my pocket, wondering why Lincoln puts out a car too early
  6. I just bought 4 new replacement Michelins at Discount Tire: $1181.42 out the door. They come with free fix a flat If they wear out before 55K they give you credit based on pro-rata wear I bought lifetime spin balancing & rotation @ $16 ea I also bought "hazard insurance": if you hit something, the tire will be replaced on a wear-based pro-rata basis @ $35.25 ea I am the type of person who NEVER buys insurance on any consumer item, except tires at Discount Tire. I have great experience on their hazard insurance, had 4 tires replaced under it over the last 10 years. Only issue with Discount Tire is that they are SO GOOD, the stores are always packed, waiting lines long. But a new DT store opened in Nov 2013, only 5 miles from me. I was in and out of there with 4 new tires in less than 20min.
  7. ANTAUS: Not everyone has your bad luck with tires. In march, 2013, I sold my 2011 GMC Denali at 63,000mi & change; put its 1st new set of Michelins on it for the sale. I'm not positive, but remember thinking that model tire had a 70,000mi warranty associated with it. Before the Denali, i owned a 2005 Crown Vic PI, bought it at about 125,000mi, sold it at 223,430mi, Michelins. I bought one set of tires during the 98,000mi i owned it. After reading some of the informative posts, i now understand why Lincoln (and other OEM's) don't carry a warranty on tires, THANKS. The 18" MKZ Michelins list for $270, my Linc dealer was prepared to give me a "great deal" due to premature wear of $235 Discount Tire prices that tire at $213 (special order) So i'll go to Discount Tire and get a new set of Michelins for my MKZ and I know that DT does honor wear warranties
  8. My 2013 MKZ Hybrid has (front & back): Michelin GreenX Primacy MXM4 245/45R18 96V The Michelin web site shows 55,000 mileage warranty... hmmm... All 4 of my tires are down to 3/32" (10/32" new) at only 28,000miles I can't find any mileage warranty info in my Owner's Manual, but I'm going to contact my dealership and ask why Michelin says 55k and they say "time to buy new tires"
  9. Next week, i'll make a lil jaunt Houston - Miami - Houston, then replace the MKZ's OEM tires. Possibly there is something better out there? I don't care much about handling, more interest in low tire noise. Not necessarily looking for the cheapest tire, either. So i'm looking for a replacement tire which has longer life, AND is quiet, AND doesn't have a big mpg penality. Might as well ask that politicians stop feeding me bullshit as long as I am wishing...
  10. I hadn't previously considered the 18" tires all that "low profile", but i guess they are. Thanks for the info. karl
  11. Today I took my hybrid MKZ down to its free oil change etc and was informed my tires are close to worn out. At only 28,278mi??? WTF???? I expected 60k +/-. Anyone else seeing rapid tire wear? i have the 18" wheels, std tires, tire pressure kept within spec, rotating tires at each oil change (@6-8k) no track days... As a side note, i had them do recall 13C09, something to do with a powertrain module recalibration. No idea what that's about, but it showed up on my Vehicle Health Report karl
  12. Jr.f: It is GREAT that you are posting here. Just what I like to see, the real deal. Thanks, Karl
  13. Westpoint Lincoln, Houston - Carlos Fraifeld / Mike Hungate: "Karl, Just yesterday we received the order guide and pricing info for the MKC. We don't plan on seeing the car on the ground until late May to early June, however I'm sure that we'll be taking pre orders. When you come in for the oil change, look me up and we can place a dummy order to checck on pricing for you." Pretty much everything these 2 guys told me about my MKZ was right on the money. A real pleasure to deal with. We'll see how soon it shows up, eh?
  14. hooray for "upward creep"! Plush & silent RULES! I was previously going to pull the trigger on a new rx350 in Jan for my wife, but she is pushing back, saying she loves her 5 year old Accord. Gotta love that girl. The more i read about the MKC, the more I like the idea of waiting for it. Anyway, i get the impression that the C is a little bit smaller than the RX350 (i might be wrong about that), and she is barely 5' so the C may fit her better. Anyone know when the MKC is going to start appearing in auto shows?
  15. jp880, thanks for the info. My wife is tiny, just wants to sit higher, so prob either the MKC or RX would suit her. If the MKC hits auto shows soon enough (by early, 2014) so we/she can sit in it , it may be in contention. I hope it doesn't turn into an MKZ release mess. I love my MKZ, but IMO its release was bungled. Karl
