  1. Hello there, Just curious if anyone has done much customizing to their Navigator. We are thinking of powder coating the wheels and possibly making some of the chrome pieces black as well. Trying to decide what might look best. I want to get a black label badge for the side and black LINCOLN badging for the back as well. We decided we didn't like any of the interiors on the Black Label enough to warrant paying for it. We will likely do Platinum White w/Cappuccino interior. I would ideally like the Reserve Package as I'd like to have the top end stereo, but I really like the "Select" rims the best of all of them and think they'd look best powder coated. I really don't like the optional 5 spoke rim, but think it might look OK in black/charcoal? Any opinions there? Attached are the PVC black chrome Reserve rim and optional 5 spoke rim.

Anyone done any customizing to their Navigator (2018+)?

I do like that carbon fiber trim! I am really worried about how this piano black crap is going to look in about 3 months. Not sure where this trend came from. Looks nice for a very short while and is trashed in no time in my experience. Have been checking around to do some customization. I think I am going 15% tint all the way around (adding something like 25% to the rear to even it out best as possible). I plan to black out the grille and all of the chrome as well. I hope to make the side badge look like the black label badging. I am going to powder coat the wheels as well. Hoping this all turns out OK and doesn't look too over the top. The trusted shop I talked to was a little nervous about their ability to wrap the grille but I have seen quite a few done online now. Thanks everyone for all the input!
  3. Anyone had any luck finding solid seat covers for the 2nd row? Especially in a bench seat? Just wanting to protect them from our young kids ... at least for these first years. I am running into issues finding ones mostly due to having a 2nd row bench. Thanks!

2nd row car seat covers - bench?

Good point ... wondering if I should just get individual seat barriers for under the car seats and call it good, but really afraid the kids will just trash whatever isn't covered. I wouldn't be shocked if they haven't made them for the remodeled Expedition yet either.

2nd row car seat covers - bench?

I ordered from Wet Okole online after checking them out and was pretty excited ... then they called the next day and said they didn't have the measurements for the 2019 Navigator ... I said "that's OK cause they're the same as the 2018" ... they said, "We have not made one for a Navigator since 2009." I said isn't there a way for you to get the measurements and then make it and then you'll have it going forward? They said, sorry we can't help you

2nd row car seat covers - bench?

Thanks so much! I am maybe looking for something a bit more form fitting? But on second thought maybe this is the right idea. Thanks for the input!
  7. Sorry for all the topics of late ... Really getting my selections narrowed down. Here is the situation ... going with Platinum White w/Cappuccino interior. Planning on powder coating the wheels and blacking out most/all of the chrome on the car and tinting the windows. I like the SELECT rims the best of all available rims but like the things offered on the RESERVE best. I don't really want to fork out the $s for a new set of SELECT rims and it might be tough to find someone willing to exchange their SELECT rims for my RESERVE rims. I think the select rims look best and will look the best powder coated. Would love some perspective on this from others ... to me the Select rim look more sporty than the sleek look of the Reserve rim, but maybe this wouldn't be that noticeable if powder coated anyhow? 83% of all Navigators sold are Reserve or Black Label. That being said, what would I tangibly be missing on a Select vs the Reserve? From all I can tell: * Ultima 20 Speaker Upgraded Sound System - generally I like having a top notch stereo in my cars, but I'm not sure I'm at the place in life where this matters as much (2 little kids ... not like I'm going to be rocking out); from what I understand the Ultima 14 speaker is a nice step up from the base stereo with the step up to the 20 speaker from the 14 speaker not being AS noticeable. That being said, this is the #1 thing keeping me from wanting to go with the Select line. * LED lit belt buckles - not a big deal * Illuminated Front Grille Lincoln Badge - again, not that big of a deal to me Am I missing anything else? Would love your perspective and input on anything I noted here! Thanks for putting up with my multiple obsessive posts Getting very close to putting down a deposit for an order. Just need to line up the ability to get X-plan pricing.
  8. I wouldn't necessarily but we try to interact with her about what she's watching as she's watching it so she doesn't get as completely zoned out. She doesn't want to wear headphones and is only 3 so she can't operate the capacitive buttons so easily.
  9. You guys are making me more glad I'm not ordering it. With two little kids I can't be operating it for them while going down the street. I suppose one could wire in a DVD player via HDMI but you'd still have the sound issue, right? Thanks for this discussion.

    Deciding Between "Select" and "Reserve"

I kind of have the same feeling about the sunroof as headroom is a bit tight in that 2nd row with the Vista Roof, but the kids seem to like the moonroof and I like the extra light we can get in it due to wanting to tint the windows 15%. I am still torn on the rims, but I think I will go with the Reserve. I did like the reserve rims in black on the customized video that was floating around on here. Wish I could see the Select in a matte black.

    Deciding Between "Select" and "Reserve"

Yes, that is correct. And in our case, we are ordering the bench in the 2nd row so that's not an issue ... but yes if you want the console you have to get Reserve or Black Label. Thanks!

Anyone done any customizing to their Navigator (2018+)?

Wow thanks you guys! That video makes me feel a little better about the standard Reserve rims in black. I still think the Select rims would look even better. Agreed, that satin gray color looks awesome!
  13. Another post looking for some input ... We are having a tough time settling on an exterior and interior color. We really like the Chalet Theme interior on the Black Label, but not sure we really want to shell out the $10K extra for that interior plus included service and annual detailing (we wouldn't use the other services honestly). We have decided we need the L thanks to responses to the other topic I posted. I don't LOVE the look of the longer body. In a perfect world, I love the look of a black Navigator with the chrome accents and brighter wheels (Black in Reserve package say), but we have two YOUNG kids and likely will keep this car much longer than we normally do (generally 3 years of late ... yes, I know it's dumb financially) so black does not feel smart this time around. We are probably leaning toward White Platinum but I don't like the look of it as well with all the chrome of the Reserve (tend to like the chrome contrast with a darker exterior). If we chose the Reserve it would likely be the Cappuccino interior as the black is too dark overall and the Slate Grey we aren't too sure about. So then I'm back to the Black Label ... I don't love the rims but I like the contrast they provide on a lighter exterior (like White Platinum) and the black trim pieces (I don't like them on the darker exteriors on Black Label because the black accents get lost). In all honesty I may like the rims on the Select model best of them all. They look a little more aggressive and less sleek to me. However, I like the extras on the Reserve (especially the top of the line stereo). Sorry I am talking all over the place ... that sentiment of confusion leads me to ask myself, "If you don't love the look of the extended length and are having a tough time deciding on exterior and interior color why not just save the $s and get an Expedition?" Theoretically all I'd be tangibly missing would be a better stereo and Heads Up Display (obviously lots of other things like upscale interior, etc. too). I would HAVE to get the Platinum trim in the Expedition I believe due to wanting the adaptive ride, but there I don't like the rims so much and would likely choose a dark exterior to contrast the brighter rims of the Platinum. Obviously I am all over the place with this decision ... any input or experience you also had making these decisions PLEASE feel free to share! Thanks for listening!

    Military Rebate on Navigator

BMWs are notorious for pumping up their residuals, correct? I think I read somewhere almost 80% of their new "sales" are leases. They like having all those certified pre-owned BMWs to sell. Sounds like a pretty great deal on the XC90. We have liked our XC60 so far but have had the service engine light go on about 4 times in 2000 miles. Do love their new exterior AND interior styling. They're supposedly at the bottom of luxury vehicles in terms of reliability right now, but have also heard most of that are reports of problems with the SENSUS and check engine lights and such, not necessarily major issues but annoying nonetheless.

    Military Rebate on Navigator

I too took my wife recently and she was super impressed by the Navigator. She said, "It's nicer than I thought it'd be." It drives much smaller than I'd figured it would. I am trying to get us (me actually) out of a minivan :) I am finding some exchange programs online where you can have the rims black chromed or powder coated in an exchange for under $1000k. My problem is I like the look of the Select rims best but the features of the Reserve. I was thinking Black Label all the way until sitting in the Chalet theme the other day and not liking the interior as much as I'd figured. Now we plan to go White Platinum with Cappuccino interior. We will tint the windows 15% all the way around and put the Black label look to it as far as badging and go with charcoal/black rims and maybe black on some of the chrome trim lines and maybe the grill. I hear you about leases. With all the tech, leasing makes a bit more sense but also they know that and adjust those MFs and the like to account for it. We trade cars too often and leases make sense generally in that situation, but we plan to keep the Navigator a bit longer this time around (how many times have I said that before?). In the past I have driven too many miles for a lease to make sense. We just leased my wife's Volvo XC60 though and it's our first lease experience--we'll see how it goes.

    Military Rebate on Navigator

Will be buying within a year or so and will be 44 years of age. I'm hoping for a "stealth" option from Lincoln like the Ford where you can get black or charcoal rims and some darker accents similar to a Black Pack on Jaguars. If not I will just customize. Also intrigued by the hybrid possibility.
  17. Yes, I agree currently, but the Chevy/GMC/Cadillac are going to an independent rear suspension as well and will surely have a better 3rd row in the redesign. Rumors are it will show in Detroit next month. I still think we will want the Lincoln, but think we should wait to see what the GMs offer as we aren't in a hurry.
  18. Thanks again for all the input. I think we've decided on the Navigator in White Platinum in Black Label with the Chalet Theme. Gonna go back and forth on Lincoln Play ... we are into technology but I kind of wish they just included a DVD to make it a bit less of a guessing game on how well it will actually work. We will wait to order (wanting a 2nd row bench) until seeing what Chevy/Cadillac has to offer for their redesign but leaning heavy toward the Lincoln either way.
  19. Something must've went amiss the way you are treating people here ... maybe they spent TOO much time with you
  20. Quite true ... but not always so easy. It is our last resort typically, but if we have it I want to know it functions well.
  21. Gonna need to follow this thread. Thinking maybe just having an iPad or the like loaded and then connected maybe might be the easiest route.
  22. It's been hard to catch one that stays in for any time around here ... care to elaborate? I know the themes provide different color choices and wood trim, but aside from the suede-like headliner are there any other major trim differences?

    nationwide Navigator search howto

We are looking for a 2nd row bench ... when we finally decide ... and I am thinking that practically HAS to be a special order given the lack of them out there. There are a few I think, but not a ton. I also have searched on autotrader.com but it's not as good as just going to local websites or doing what's suggested above. I do find it helpful to get real world pics of color combos however.
  25. Hello everyone! I was wondering if I could ask for some people's input regarding how you decided on the length of your Navigator. I currently drive a minivan (Chrysler Pacifica) and am missing the luxury features and 4wd I was accustomed to previously. My in-laws are moving here soon and I would imagine we will be taking 2-4 trips (fairly lengthy) per year with all 6 of us in the car (we have two young kids - ages 3 and 1). I prefer the looks of the standard Navigator length-wise, but I am wondering if we will regret not going with the extended L length in the long run. I did not find it (the L) to be that cumbersome to drive while on a test drive, but my bias is to have something shorter as we likely won't need the cargo space most of the time. If we were to get the 2nd row bench we could put 3 persons in that row on a trip and leave the smaller seat up in the 3rd row for the 6th person while leaving the other side folded for extra cargo. What do you guys think? Some of these trips could be quite long, so 6 persons and their luggage could take up quite a bit of space (especially with kids and all their stuff and strollers, etc.). I suppose I could do a cargo box or something for the few occasions we can't fit it all, but I kinda hate thinking of having stuff in the heat or cold plus it always seems like people want into their bags or the like for something while on a trip. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have! If I stick w/Reserve I will probably go Black w/either Cappuccino or Slate Gray interior ... if I go Black Label I will do Tri-Coat White w/Alpine (Chalet) interior.
