  1. Hello there, Just curious if anyone has done much customizing to their Navigator. We are thinking of powder coating the wheels and possibly making some of the chrome pieces black as well. Trying to decide what might look best. I want to get a black label badge for the side and black LINCOLN badging for the back as well. We decided we didn't like any of the interiors on the Black Label enough to warrant paying for it. We will likely do Platinum White w/Cappuccino interior. I would ideally like the Reserve Package as I'd like to have the top end stereo, but I really like the "Select" rims the best of all of them and think they'd look best powder coated. I really don't like the optional 5 spoke rim, but think it might look OK in black/charcoal? Any opinions there? Attached are the PVC black chrome Reserve rim and optional 5 spoke rim.

Anyone done any customizing to their Navigator (2018+)?

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing too ... or plastidipped. A friend suggested wrapping the grille surround and leaving the grille chrome. I'm having a tough time picturing it in my head though.

Yeah, I'm feeling ya. I'm gonna start w the powder coated rims and dark tint and go from there (rear LINCOLN in black and Black Label side badge). Grille likely first and then I agree with you ... perhaps that piece between the taillights too. I'm just worried if I do anything on the side of the car (lower piece, door handles, and roof rack) I'll have to do all and eliminate all chrome and I'm feeling that will look like too much.

A few pics I found online ... the Chroma Blue is Jay Leno's customized Navigator. I think I will do the grille for sure. Maybe the lower chrome line along the side?? On the pic of the white one here not sure I'm liking the body color wrap on the lower rocker piece.

I would say the same on a darker exterior car as well. I think I will black out the grille surround at least on our white platinum.

I had thought about going with silver for that reason, as I still would've provided some contrast but maybe not as dramatic as with the Platinum White. I'm trying to look at the Black Label and then go on adding black from there. I think I'd like the grille to be black ... the lower chrome line as well. Unsure about the roof rack and window surround and door handles. I'm thinking of doing the door handles in Platinum White wrap. It's been hard to picture! I will just start with the window tint and wheels and see how I feel. These pics are extreme, but give a little bit of an example. No way I'm doing the whole roof or doing the blacked out rear taillamps. These rims are 24s.

Yeah ... I checked on glossy powder coat and it was $125/wheel plus a mount and balance. Tint was under $300 estimated. I am going back and forth ... the recommended "not using a car wash" on vinyl wraps has me hesitant to do a full body wrap as I'm not going to have/make the time to hand wash. I am starting to lean back towards keeping the Platinum White and deleting some of the chrome. I definitely want to powder coat the wheels, but am having a tough time deciding what chrome to black out? Any suggestions? I think I will black out the grille, rear LINCOLN badge and side NAVIGATOR badge, but I'm worried it I black out all the chrome it will be too much black ... especially the door handles and lower rocker chrome line. Thoughts?
  8. Another post looking for some input ... We are having a tough time settling on an exterior and interior color. We really like the Chalet Theme interior on the Black Label, but not sure we really want to shell out the $10K extra for that interior plus included service and annual detailing (we wouldn't use the other services honestly). We have decided we need the L thanks to responses to the other topic I posted. I don't LOVE the look of the longer body. In a perfect world, I love the look of a black Navigator with the chrome accents and brighter wheels (Black in Reserve package say), but we have two YOUNG kids and likely will keep this car much longer than we normally do (generally 3 years of late ... yes, I know it's dumb financially) so black does not feel smart this time around. We are probably leaning toward White Platinum but I don't like the look of it as well with all the chrome of the Reserve (tend to like the chrome contrast with a darker exterior). If we chose the Reserve it would likely be the Cappuccino interior as the black is too dark overall and the Slate Grey we aren't too sure about. So then I'm back to the Black Label ... I don't love the rims but I like the contrast they provide on a lighter exterior (like White Platinum) and the black trim pieces (I don't like them on the darker exteriors on Black Label because the black accents get lost). In all honesty I may like the rims on the Select model best of them all. They look a little more aggressive and less sleek to me. However, I like the extras on the Reserve (especially the top of the line stereo). Sorry I am talking all over the place ... that sentiment of confusion leads me to ask myself, "If you don't love the look of the extended length and are having a tough time deciding on exterior and interior color why not just save the $s and get an Expedition?" Theoretically all I'd be tangibly missing would be a better stereo and Heads Up Display (obviously lots of other things like upscale interior, etc. too). I would HAVE to get the Platinum trim in the Expedition I believe due to wanting the adaptive ride, but there I don't like the rims so much and would likely choose a dark exterior to contrast the brighter rims of the Platinum. Obviously I am all over the place with this decision ... any input or experience you also had making these decisions PLEASE feel free to share! Thanks for listening!
  9. Yeah, the Black Label leather will likely wear worse. I was anticipating really liking the Chalet theme but when sitting in it in person my wife and I both didn't love it. We wanted a lighter interior so Cappuccino was it.

Received some estimates for this wrap ... just the full body wrap and the trims are around $4400 plus tax (not counting powder coating rims and window tint).

Medium Slate Grey Ash Swirl interior

Yeah, the gray is definitely on the medium scale rather than light. My wife said it felt "blue" to her and like an old school color. I didn't feel that way, but I agreed with the lighter interior for more warmth (feel wise). If I were picking just for me, I would've gone black or possibly the slate.

    Inflatable Rear Seat Belts

Didn't order them as they aren't compatible with the car seats we use. I suppose I would've otherwise.
  13. We finally settled on a Reserve L in White Platinum w Cappuccino interior. Gonna black out the chrome, powder coat the wheels and possibly wrap the whole car Satin Dark Grey. The recommendations to not use a car wash with a wrap has me hesitating though. Good luck in your decision!

Medium Slate Grey Ash Swirl interior

I think you are making a good choice by what you are describing. It is definitely darker than light gray. I probably would've ordered this as well as it bridges the gap from the very light cappuccino (which we ordered) to the ebony interior very well. My wife did not care for the medium slate in person. I like that the wood is not typical and doesn't look very wood-like at all honestly.
  16. Anyone had any luck finding solid seat covers for the 2nd row? Especially in a bench seat? Just wanting to protect them from our young kids ... at least for these first years. I am running into issues finding ones mostly due to having a 2nd row bench. Thanks!

2nd row car seat covers - bench?

Tried to order for the Expedition as well and they say they don't have them measured for that either so they can't fulfill my order. Maybe I just have to have them custom made locally I guess. I'd like cut outs for the seat belts etc.

With what I hear the PVD still looks VERY "chrome-y" ... I don't want that much shine/reflectivity. I think I may go semi-gloss powder coat as it's between matte and full gloss i think? It might have to do with what matches the black "wrap" as well.

I am starting to consider copying the car in the video above. That satin dark gray is A W E S O M E! I ordered Platinum White from the factory and was planning on blacking out all of the chrome but starting to worry about there being too many black pieces (especially the door handles and trim along the bottom of the car) if I do full chrome delete. That way I can put satin dark gray on the lower body chrome line and the door handles. Too many options and confusion! :)

I’m having a tough time deciding between powder coating (doing either flat or glossy) or doing the PVD black chrome. Do you have any opinion or perspective on that you can share with me?

I do like that carbon fiber trim! I am really worried about how this piano black crap is going to look in about 3 months. Not sure where this trend came from. Looks nice for a very short while and is trashed in no time in my experience. Have been checking around to do some customization. I think I am going 15% tint all the way around (adding something like 25% to the rear to even it out best as possible). I plan to black out the grille and all of the chrome as well. I hope to make the side badge look like the black label badging. I am going to powder coat the wheels as well. Hoping this all turns out OK and doesn't look too over the top. The trusted shop I talked to was a little nervous about their ability to wrap the grille but I have seen quite a few done online now. Thanks everyone for all the input!

2nd row car seat covers - bench?

Good point ... wondering if I should just get individual seat barriers for under the car seats and call it good, but really afraid the kids will just trash whatever isn't covered. I wouldn't be shocked if they haven't made them for the remodeled Expedition yet either.

2nd row car seat covers - bench?

I ordered from Wet Okole online after checking them out and was pretty excited ... then they called the next day and said they didn't have the measurements for the 2019 Navigator ... I said "that's OK cause they're the same as the 2018" ... they said, "We have not made one for a Navigator since 2009." I said isn't there a way for you to get the measurements and then make it and then you'll have it going forward? They said, sorry we can't help you

Thanks so much! I am maybe looking for something a bit more form fitting? But on second thought maybe this is the right idea. Thanks for the input!
