  1. We avoided the Lincoln Play on our 2020 intentionally. Then we bought an Advent system aftermarket and it looked just like the Lincoln Play so they must make them for Lincoln even though they didn't operate the same way. Anyhow, aftermarket RES have IR transmitting ability so you can set them to project an FM signal and you can play the audio over the speakers that way while tuning into that radio station.

  2. My other cars, if you turn the blinker on to change lanes while someone is in your blind spot it will alert you to their presence audibly. It seems the Navigator just illuminates the indicator on the mirror and that is all? Am I missing something here or if that how it functions? (yes, I know I need to look every time no matter what) :)

  3. Hello fellow Navigator Owners! Just gonna check in and talk about my experience with our Navigator so far.

I have to admit I've been having some buyer's remorse. I think it has mostly to do with Covid and that we didn't travel as much as planned this summer as that was my number one rationalization for getting the Navigator :)

    LIKES
    - Overall exterior appearance

    - Black Label Interior Chalet Theme

    - Drives Smaller Than Size

    - HUD and all the info included

    - All the storage crannies

    - Second Row Bench

    DISLIKES / CONCERNS

    - Apple CarPlay doesn't always engage upon connection

    - Front Seat Comfort

    - Just OK seat massage
    - Sound System just alright
    - A bit more space behind the 3rd row would be nice

Some explanation of the above and where I'm coming from overall. I moved over from a Chrysler Pacifica minivan and liked the idea of having 4wd and a more truck like experience (and not driving a minivan). If I could do it over again, I think I would've kept the minivan. Those darn sliding doors with toddlers are just so convenient. All that being said, I do like the Navigator and the exterior customizing I did really makes it look awesome imho. I feel like the functioning of the infotainment is just OK. Sometimes I have an issue getting my CarPlay to engage (seems I need to either plug it in prior to car turning on OR wait a while after it's been running). I've had the Nav long enough, I just don't think the Perfect Position seats are that comfortable. The massage option is just OK. What might explain this is my wife's Volvo has supremely comfortable seats and the best (actual) massaging seats in the industry imho. The Volvo's sound system may also have something to do with my feelings on the Nav's. I find at lower volumes it's just alright, but at higher levels the Nav gets better.

Overall, I'm happy enough with the Navigator and it's an obviously nice vehicle. I think with the Covid situation and less travel occurring it's led me to have regrets over purchasing the Nav. Probably would've just been smart to stay in the minivan and let the kids trash that a bit more.

Ah, okay, gotcha. I have gone mostly to full screen for the reverse camera. As I have said, I come from a 2008 Expedition, so it seems big to me lol.

I like to have both of them on there so I don't hit anything on the sides ... still adjusting to the size of this thing :)

Doesn't the heated steering wheel system activate according to interior temperature? So, if the cabin is warm, it will cycle on and off enough to not seem very hot?

I have not gotten in my Navigator yet when it was completely cold and then turned on the steering wheel heat. I suspect it would get to what would seem to be very hot since the surrounding air and everything else would be very cold.

My Jeep Wrangler has one heated steering wheel level and it's really toasty. Our Volvo is much warmer as well. Even our minivan that this car replaced had a warmer steering wheel. Oh well ... first world problems, especially all things considered right now.

@Husker4theSpurs, what do you mean with respect to the rear camera?

I feel like as large as the middle infotainment screen is, the actual size of the reverse cam image when it takes over the screen (which also having 360 camera on) could be better utilized and or larger overall. And the quality isn't as good as a lot of other cars I've owned.

Congrats on the ride- I have a similar setup.  The 22's certainly shudder over rough roads, drive the same truck with 20's and it's much smoother.  Our escalade was much rougher though.  I love the interior- I really wouldn't change anything.  The one major glaring issue is the infotainment system.  It sucks.  I guess if you have only had Fords/Lincolns in the past you are used to it, but for those of us who have had just about any other brand it's horrible.  Why can't you have more than 6 presets on that huge screen- you literally have to switch a screen and radio station to get to more presets- that's absurd.  And why can't you have FM and XM mixed together on the same preset screen?  The volume thing is dumb too.  And whenever I'm in CarPlay and the massaging seats go off or something it goes to the seat screen and stays there.  I think whoever designed it is a lifetime Ford'er and has never been in another vehicle.

Yes, all of the radio stuff is less than ideal, but honestly I'm almost always listening to podcasts or music off of my phone so I don't interact with it so much.

  8. Let me start by saying, I really like this vehicle a lot. However, I will probably be talking a lot about the things I don't like so much or am not so sure about. Not trying to bash, sorry! Just like talking about any of the little things that might be able to be improved or the like.

    Liking:

    - Looks in general. I did some customizing and love the look overall. I chose the Chalet interior and am really pleased that I did.
    - Super spacious inside. Very glad we chose the 2nd row bench. Very soft leather and comfortable seats all the way around.

    - Awesome highway cruiser--great road trip car.

    - Great HUD--tons of information and looks great.
    - Sound system is great at higher volumes (underwhelming at lower volumes).
    - Love having the seat controls on the doors like Mercedes.
    - Heated and cooled seats are really nice and work well.
    - Love all the storage, compartments, etc.
    - Panoramic roof, great as always.

Not so sure/dislikes: (Again, just lots of random stuff ... most of it is no big deal at all)

    - A bit of a choppy ride in town on road imperfections. My tires are slightly overinflated now, so I will see when they're more properly inflated at another time. With 22s what can you expect I guess?

    - Too much piano black and shiny chrome trim on the interior. (I do find the interior very nice though)
    - Front cupholders a bit small. Would like some rear cupholders somewhere other than the floor (downside to the 2nd row bench).

    - Cheap buttons on rear console for control of audio etc.
    - If I don't wait a while to plug in my phone via USB after starting, CarPlay won't work. Seems to be some confusion if car is also connecting via Bluetooth. (have had this issue on other cars as well)

    - I don't like how when you scroll from page to page to a new set of presets on the radio that the channel changes. Seems like it should stay on the same channel even if you swipe to a new set of 6 presets.
    - Doesn't make sense that the whole screen is taken over when you change the volume.

    - Heated steering wheel doesn't seem to get as hot as I'd like.

    - Rear camera should utilize more space on the center stack screen. Quality of camera just OK too.

    - Would appreciate the LKA to be a bit more active.

    - Massaging seats just OK. Better than nothing. (Our Volvo are best in the biz imho)
    - Rear wiper is teeny tiny (not sure it could be larger however).

I may add more over time ... really enjoying this Navigator. Smooth and comfortable overall!

That's a stunning color combination! Any suggestions on my vehicle? I can't go extreme, but can do some general upgrades. I have the Black Navigator posted a few back. The Interior is already awesome, but has anybody done any good customization?

P.S.- what drive mode do you all keep it in? I just use the regular 4x4 Normal, but it seems the Excite mode disables auto start/stop, which is something I like vs manually.

    Thanks!

Honestly I like the darker colors just like you have it with the contrast with the chrome! One thing you could do is get a black grille from the monochrome package from parts? Or just have it painted (probably cheaper). Look up some pics of a black with monochrome package to see what it would look like in front.

I normally leave it in normal (just because I forget to change it). I probably would keep it in CONSERVE most times if I'd think of it just because I didn't think it felt too underpowered. EXCITE felt a bit firm to me.

  10. Finally got mine (posted in another thread but will post here too). Black Label in Pristine White w/factory black rims and Alpine (Chalet theme). I deleted almost all the chrome and tinted the front windows to match. I added a factory black grille from a black monochrome Reserve. I also added an aftermarket RSES that works better than the OEM Lincoln Play. Really happy with how it turned out. Having a few small thoughts on lightly smoking the headlights and maybe the taillamps.

  11. Thanks for the feedback guys! I do like the interior on this Chalet theme. Super excited to get this deal done next week. I'm not looking forward to haggling over the increased customizing costs I'm expecting since my "estimates" were done however. I am getting X plan pricing so that part is what it is, but trade in is still fluid and the aforementioned customizing as well. I doubt they want to be "stuck" with this highly customized of a Navigator, but I doubt they'd struggle to sell it.

  12. Black grille (from factory through parts department) installed ... wrapping is a work in progress (roof rack, side mirrors, lower front fascia and rear completed) with the side chrome under the windows, lower rocker trim, door handles and chrome around the grille yet to be completed.

I did have the aftermarket Voxx RSES installed and it looks factory to my eyes ... now to see how it performs. Hope to take possession early next week and will have pics shortly thereafter. These are from the accessorizing woman from the dealer.

Where did you order the black grill from? When you built the truck or separate and put it on after it arrives? I really want one, I think it will look way better than the white it comes with.

My dealer has a woman who helps with any customization. She ordered it through the parts department to put on afterwards. When I had plans for a 2019 she was going to have it painted and now that they have it for the black monochrome she just went through parts. I think it was $800 though :( a little bit of labor too I'm sure. It was cheaper when I was just going to have it painted.

I almost ordered the Pristine White monochromatic as well ... with Slate Gray interior ... but in the end I decided I wanted the Black Label badging and didn't want to have it put on after the fact (and it was my excuse to get the black label after they made the black rims a stand alone option on black label).

Honestly I'm surprised Lincoln didn't do the black rim package with a black trim package as well since that is the trend. The monochromatic doesn't quite look right to me on it's own (the black monochromatic is almost too much black). I like the contrast of the badging whether it be chrome badging on black (or another dark color) or black badging on white (or another light color).
