  1. Precisely. There is a whole factory putting this problematic "suv" together. Ford should pull an engine out of the factory and take care of the actual person that paid (a ton) of money for their vehicle than the potential customer that may buy the one that isn't built yet. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush......and if I were this customer.....Ford wouldn't have a bird in the hand. It has been appalling how badly Ford has handled this.....especially with a vehicle so vitally important as the Escape. This smacks of arrogance...."we don't need to please this customer because there will be many more".
  2. Because I actively follow the auto industry and never heard of such a crazy assertion. I don't think ANYONE was clamoring for ANY of those things to remain...other than a few loan voices on the internetz (but there is always loyal people to a particular product that would like to see it continue).
  3. I think he should get something else. This is simply unacceptable for a brand new vehicle. I think he's rather foolish for sticking with the problematic 2013 Escape for this long. Obviously Ford and the dealer don't have the first clue as to how to get him back on the road...time to jump ship. I feel for him.
  4. Can you back any of that up with something more substantial than a few loan voices on an internet forum?
  5. Oh my God...the resemblance is uncanny...it's hard to tell which is which: Gotta love blind fanboyism
  6. It's not a stretch at all. This recall is doing damage to the Escape brand. With the problematic new one, and this massive recall, it would not be surprising to see potential customers buy something else.
  7. V8s are nice and smooth...but automakers are afraid of V8s and instead pushing gas guzzling V6s on us.
  8. I hope not. I don't like Ford copying designs that are already out there. All I would like to see is a decently styled Edge that is something more than a porky Escape. Something to compete with the phenomenal Jeep Grand Cherokee. A decent mid-sized SUV with a tow rating that's around 5k pounds. Believe it or not, there are people out there that tow and do not have far too many kids to justify a seven seat SUV. A simple 5-seat SUV with a decent tow rating...what a concept. I'll be the first to buy.
  9. Not even remotely close. I've driven both for a substantial amount of miles...they are very, very different vehicles. But yeah...complete powertrain overhauls, completely different interiors, completely different electrics, completely different features, different styling, etc = same.
  10. He was referencing the "last generation" Escape (2008-2012)...which had 4 recalls from 2008 to 2012. The 2013 Escape...which is "The smarter way to get there" according to Ford's web site, has had two already....in a single week. And justifying these two recalls by referencing the fact that other manufactures have recalls (ie: Escapes starting on fire is ok because Honda has recalls too) or by saying that these recalls are ok because when the Escape first came out, it had more recalls isn't really accomplishing anything...unless you want Ford to be exactly like Honda. A recall is a recall...and real consumers..both who own the vehicle and are interested in one have expressed concerns...in this very thread. Now isn't really the time to try and justify and mimimize the recalls...but maybe kick around some solutions as RJ has. It will be interesting to see if the Fusion has a better launch (and even the tech laden MKZ). Hopefully Ford learns from the Escape and ensures a flawless launch for those two vitally important products.
  11. The V6 Mustang explodes FAR before 154MPH...and are only limited to 112.
  12. The VW would surly get 32 MPG if it's engine had a cute little 'Eco' engine name...
  13. The job was building the better car. The Camaro is better composed on the road, sitting in traffic, at the track, etc. The only "advantage" the Mustang has is raw power.....and that's just to grab headlines. Don't kid yourself...Ford wanted this car to beat the Camaro in every category. If Ford just wanted a car that was fast in a straight line, they would have left the suspension alone and lowered the price. You do realize that Ford built the GT500 to be a "Camry-like Super Car" don't you? Again, these cars are so close in performance, when you try and baselessly slam the Camaro, you are also slamming the GT500....because they are that close.
