  1. It's not really a "super pony car" if all the competition has roughly the same stats. In my opinion the v6 was always the lower level, gt was the regular level, and the Shelby, boss, etc were the "super" ponies. The base gt is 30900. It wasn't too long ago that it was around 25-26k for the base and you could pick one up for around 22-23k on x plan. You can buy a lot of cars for 31k these days. With that being said, its just a sign of the times. All the safety features and electronic options that people demand along with inflation have made the prices go up.
  2. I really liked the cmax from the front seats forward. I didn't care for the back seats though which seemed cheap, hard and uncomfortable. That was the only flaw I could find but it was enough to push me to the fusion. For the money though, especially on A plan, it's probably one of the best vehicles you can get.
  3. I've had my new fusion for several months now and I must say this is the best vehicle I've ever owned. Quality is great, mft is great no problems. The other day though the ignition started acting funny. Every once in a while when I put the key in and turn it, nothing happens and the car doesn't start. I then let go of the key and the car starts up. It's almost like a delayed start. Anyone else experience this before? Anything I should be worried about? It's only happened about 4 times in a two week period.
  4. Does anyone know when the black rims will be available on the fusion se with the luxury package? The brochure has a pic of them and states fall of 2012 but as you can see that has already passed and the wheels are not available on the build and price site yet. I've heard that job 2 date is 1/7/13. Should I expect the wheels to be available after that date? For those that don't know what they look like, it's basically the 18" optional luxury wheels painted black. See attached. I'm looking for a fusion se with luxury and tech package with the upgraded wheels and wouldn't mind waiting a few months for the black wheels but wouldn't want to wait too much longer than that.
  5. The Lincoln continental, Mk9, bronco, Shelby gr 1 to name a few
  6. The only factor for me is really the price and space. I need a backseat big enough for a car seat, while still having enough room up front for someone over six feet. Ths ruled out the focus. Could have had a titanium focus with all the options I wanted for around 23k on A plan but the back seat was way too small. We already have a 09 escape so that can handle all the camping and stuff like that. I also figure a car seat will fit equally well in both the fusion and escape. I like riding higher up in an suv but I also like the handling of my current car and the fusion will probably be similar to it.
  7. I'm in the market for a new car and I've narrowed it down to either the new escape or new fusion. I checked out the escape yesterday. The dealer had 3, two se's without myford touch but had the power liftgate for around 27k and a loaded titanium for around 35k. The myford touch really makes a big difference in the way the interior looks and I'm not sure I would get an escape without it. An se with the touch and upgraded wheels and the cargo system is around 27600 so you might as well get the sel for around 27800. While I really liked this vehicle, I'm thinking that the fusion will be a better value. A fusion se with appearance package and technology package rings up around 26745. I know these prices are not set yet but in the past they have been pretty close so I don't think it will be that far off from what the price actually is. seems like I would be getting more for my money with the fusion plus I like the looks of it a bit better than the escape. I haven't seen the fusion in person though so I can only go by the pics I've seen. I'm leaning towards the fusion but does anyone know when they will be available? The website says fall, just curious if anyone has a more exact timeframe
  8. Usually this price has been pretty close to what it really is right? This price puts it in line with the Camry, Malibu, and about 2k more than the passat, sonata, optima, mazda 6 and Altima.
  9. So it's about 2000 diff between the new fusion s and the old fusion s. I quickly scanned over the list of features and it looks like the main differences are the new one comes with sync and steering wheel controls. I'm sure there's other differences that I missed but nothing big that really stood out. Are those two features worth 2k? I don't think so, but the new looks are probably worth it. The se is about 2k more as well. Didn't have time to compare the features yet on that
  10. I got to sit an a cx5 yesterday. There was plenty of room and I'm 6 2 240. You are right though the down fall of the cx5 is the interior. I liked all the features it had for the price but the quality of the interior isn't even as good as my mazda3. I can't wait to see what the escape looks like in person. I priced out an se with the equipment package and my ford touch. It was a little over 27000. With a plan that will probably put it right where I want it to be. For that price though might as well bump it up to the sel. Wish the fusion build and price would hurry up and come out. That would simplify things for me
  11. Svtenthusiast, I'm the biggest ford fan you'll ever meet. I've never owed any vehicle that wasn't a ford family product. I understand that it is upgraded over the previous model but I'm comparing it to a brand new model of another make. I'm sure the escape will outsell the cx5 five to one but I still think its a better value.
  12. The cx5 has brand new sky active engines with get up to 35 mpg with 150 hp and 155 ft in of torque. It has 40.1 in headroom, 57.5 shoulder, 55.2 hip, and 41 leg? The escape has 39.9 head, 56 shoulder, 54.8 hip, and 43.1 leg. So if you think the cx5 is small, you might be surprised by the escape since it is smaller in every area except legroom. So same size basically and same features, it's still a few grand more. I'm sure the escape will have more power and better ride and probably similar mpg. The cx5 will probably have a more sporty feel. I guess it depends on what you like. If the price was about 2 thousand less id choose the escape in a heartbeat. That new Hyundai Santa fe they showed at the new York autos how looked pretty nice to. It will be interesting to see how much that is priced
  13. Is anyone a little disappointed in the pricing? It seems a little high to me. I'm actually in the market for a vehicle like this and there are plenty of alternatives out there that are cheaper. My wife has a 2009 escape and we love it but we got it with the sync and moonroof package for around 18k. I don't see that happening on the new escape se. Mazda has always been the second brand I look at after ford since they used to be a part of the ford family. The new cx5 they just came out with will be replacing the tribute. The middle of the pack cx5 is the touring model. This comes with a 5.8 in full color monitor with back up camera, Bluetooth, hd radio, and some others for 23895. Add navigation, alarm, bi xenon lights, auto dim mirror, rain sensing wipers, moonroof, remote start and 9 speaker Bose sound system and your only up to 27530. To get the top of the line grand touring with every option except 4wd you top out at 30035. The closest you can get to the base touring cx5 (includes touchscreen and backup camera) is the escape s which starts at 22470. Yes it's a grand cheaper but it comes with nothing really and the only real option is sync. If you bump it up to the se escape, you will be paying base of 25895, already 2g more. To get a similarly equipped model as the base touring cx5 you will have to pay 27065 and you still don't get the backup camera since its not even an option on se. I haven't looked at the dimensions yet but I read that the cx5 has the same interior volume as the cx7 so I'm assuming they both should be about the same size. I like the style of both these SUVs so it would really come down to price to me and the cx5 wins out here.
  14. im still surprised that we are not seeing air conditioned seats on any of fords new models. The kia sportage and optima have this as an option. I was expecting this on the new upper trim escape and fusion. Now we know that is not going to happen, but I was disappointed to see that this would not even be an option on any of the lincolns. Hopefully the new mkz will surprise me.
  15. I think the Mazda concept looks more like the current mazda 6 with a new front end more than it looks like the fusion. However if you look at the mazda minagi concept and compare it to the ford vertrek concept, the look pretty similar as well besides the front clips
