  1. That's less than I thought. Interesting. Clearly this was designed to be a volume truck...(cue in the sad horn from the prices right). Is there any disadvantage for a dealer not to take an A/Z plan order for a Maverick (or any other Ford vehicle)? They get reimbursed by Ford, correct? I've heard two different things from the biggest volume dealer by me so that's why I am asking. One was they aren't doing any Ford discounts, even on orders. The other being they would allow discounts (A/Z but no X) on orders. I'm trying to think of pros/con for each. As a sales person, time spent vs money gained is real. I'd assume if I did order a Maverick, I'd have to be upfront with my expectations. IE, put my order in, write up my agreement, and call me if there is an issue or it's delivered.
  2. Guestimate, when do we think the 2023 Maverick order guide will be available? Order banks? Wondering about hybrid changes (AWD) and if the 2.0 will get the BS Badlands electronic diff? Yeah, understood. I'd hate to have someone drive a car a have ordered. Are you saying dealer invoice is close to MSRP?
  3. Yep. My father has an order for a Nautilus that was placed in early November. Still can't get a solid build date. Got one once that was cancelled. That reminds me, I need to check on the status soon in the locator thread.
  4. Would you buy a car you've never driven? This isn't a GT500. In my opinion, dealers are digging their own grave. You push enough consumers long enough, someone will listen to their complaints. The direct Tesla model, which too is flawed, may get some momentum. I don't doubt in the next 5 years we seem some pushed back on the dealership laws. I get supply and demand but at this point, its like a grocery store marking up all items during an emergency (price gouging). Dealerships have always been a mixed bag. Some good, some not so good. It seems like 95% (made up number) are demanding ADM and really trying to fleece the consumer. And yes, vehicles can be a necessity for life.
  5. When I graduated in 05, I had a really hard time finding a job out of college in Michigan. I took IT contractor jobs which paid decent but none of the perks. A lot of the recruiters and company HR staff had indicated that companies had been laying off employees pretty steadily since 2000. Many of the recruiters had said that the folks that were taking these entry level IT jobs had a ton of experience. Total disadvantage for me with just part time IT work and internship. I took the hint and looked in Chicago. In two weeks I had a higher paying job in Fin tech. By the time the recession hit, Fin Tech was booming and Michigan had almost been in recession for 10 years. I haven't looked back since. Michigan has somewhat recovered but it will never be like the 90's ever again. Chicago is littered with MI transplants who want nothing to do with constant roller coaster of the auto industry. Especially in IT where, every 5 years there are massive IT layoffs. They outsource to India and then that's terrible. Then they hire like nobody's business to get back to inhouse (see GM's announcement this week). I only know about 20% of people I went to school with that stayed in Michigan.
  6. Thanks in advance. My older father is getting the run around from the dealer so I thought I'd try here. Let me know if you need more info. Ordered on 11/11/2021 Order number: 1310 VIN: 2LMPJ6J94NBL06765 Not sure of dealer code (dealer info below) Franklin Park Lincoln 5272 Monroe Street Toledo, OH 43623
  7. I feel like there is way more to this story than what is being told. Why is demand surging? Why are some companies not being impacted?
  8. I agree. I mean lets be honest here. One of the reasons traditional automakers have been hesitant is if they start building electrics and nobody buys them. I predict the truck market will be the hardest nut to crack before a majority of buyers are ready for electric trucks. Probably 20% of that crowd is still V8 or death, scoffing at a V6TT or hybrid.
  9. I'd think it's possible but probably a little lower than that. It's interesting Ford is going forward with S650 in this climate. I am almost positive GM is not going to be updating the Camaro. There may be an electric version but it's all speculation.
  10. Yeah, spec wise the BS/Maverick will have more options. However, the Bronco that I spec'd out had a stick shift, top that came off, and a true automatic 4WD system for just under 43k.. Those three things are worth living with a vehicle that's a bit more spartan. I' got about 6-8 months or so before I have to decide. A lot can change in that time. It will be interesting to see what changes for MY 23. If I have to go the soft roader the BS/Maverick, and Suburu Forester Wilderness are on the list. All of those have compromises. BS is space/price. The Maverick is lacking the twin clutch locking diff, and the Suburu has a CVT. It is just insane that it's been almost two years of Covid/supply chain issues and we still are here. No real hope in the immediate future.
  11. I hate this. It basically looks like I will be ordering a 2023 of whatever model I can get my hands on at this point. The rub for me is this: I really want a Bronco. It will pain me to have to forgo the Bronco because of lack of supply, ADM, and lack of Z plan acceptance. When a loaded Maverick or BS is around a mere 5k less of the price of a Black Diamond (MIC top, tow package, and advanced 4wd) that I want,, it's annoying. First world problems I know and I don't want to sound like a BG6r complaining. When are those chip plants going to go online in the US again?
  12. I look at this in two ways. It's a swan song for the all ICE Escalade's and it's a gift to dealers, much like the suicide door Continental. It's gives them permission to charge insane ADM (even in this environment) to reward their big dealers.
  13. I agree with this. This is just a power pissing match. Sure, it's great to accelerate in but anywhere north of 80mph is a real bad idea in a 6k pound vehicle. At most I see a 125 top speed (faster than a Raptor). Anymore than that, there will be more accidents in these things than you can shake a stick at. I can tell you in my Chicago to Detroit I-94 travel I see trucks and SUVS going as fast as their vehicles will allow them. They get angry when you pass them. Not that I am confirming I am going fast enough in my Fusion to pass them. According to Ford, my Fusion is limited to 126....whatever that means
  14. I guarantee the fenders are more function than they are form. Complaints with regular SAS Bronco's is it's a rock thrower. I can only imagine a wider stance requires bigger/wider fenders to catch those rocks and whatever is getting thrown. They may not be super pretty but will save the paint and many a windshield.
  15. After watching some TFL truck videos, I'm guessing Hyundai really doesn't expect many to take their Santa Cruz off road. That DCT/AWD combo was never meant to be taken off road other than a really tame dirt road.
  16. The CG Ranger is out for me. For me, I'd rather wait till NG Ranger. The interior/tech alone makes it worth it to me. The Ranger is great truck now but I've been staring at a smaller low res sync 3 screen for 5 years now. I need a change. I get getting a deal though. The 2.3/10speed is a proven combo and that truck should be a rock for at least a decade.
  17. Looks like I'm going to be watching when the order guides come out and the order banks for the 2023 MY vehicles. I have a short list of vehicles on my list (BS, Maverick, Bronco, and Ranger). Each one has it's pros/cons. Maverick had been on top of the list but now I don't know. My first choice would be a Bronco (allegedly going to receive a few changes for 2023), but we all know the issues trying to get a Bronco.
  18. I knew it! I wonder if it will make an appearance at King of Hammers like the Bronco did last year.
  19. I’m guessing we’ll get the Braptor roll out. King of Hammers starts today as well. My guess is they take out a Braptor on Sunday for a partial reveal and hit the course. Embargo ending on Monday?
  20. Interest rates in January have gone up. Also, it’s expected the Fed will raises rates more often this year than expected. Will it effect homes prices? It should but that doesn’t mean it will.
  21. I'm wanting to replace my Fusion in the next 12 months. Covid and supply chain issues have wreaked havoc on the industry, which has led me to the idea of ordering a vehicle. Virtually all of the dealerships around me are charging ADM for any vehicle on the lot. Most are choosing not to honor A/Z/X plans. It's insane and I refuse to pay ADM or get ripped off. The largest dealer by me said they would let me order a vehicle and honor my Z plan if I did that. I would get that in writing before doing any order. Also, he mentioned usually there is a small rebate for ordering. That brings me to this question, how long do orders generally take in this atmosphere that we live in now. I know each vehicle will be different. A few vehicles I am thinking about are below. 1. Bronco Sport- I like it but most likely too small. The only version I like, the Badlands, is pretty pricey with options. I need some seat time with a Badlands to decide.- 2. Bronco- For a few thousand more than a Bronco Sport, I can get a real Bronco Big Bend or Black Diamond. I've priced them out and it seems with the options I want would be 39-43k. The roof issues scare me though. And you can get in 2000 never. Part of me wants to see if I can get a 2023 but I do wonder if demand will ever be softened. Will they ever have inventory. 3. Ranger - This would be for a 2023 Ranger...whenever that goes on sale. Ticked no hybrid and also a little leery of ordering a first model year. 4. Maverick- Sat in one and it had enough interior room. Wish the FX4 package had the locking diff from BS. Wish there was a 4WD option with hybrid. Price wise, even loaded up, this is the cheapest. I'd probably put in order for 2023. As of right now, this would appear to check the most boxes and "appear" to be the easiest to get. I'm looking at a few other that are non Fords too. Anyone got any ideas on the ones listed above? It seems that buying a vehicle has gotten increasingly frustrating over these past few years, unless you want to pay over MSRP.
  22. If this were for me only, this list would have some wildcards in it. However, since it’s me, my special needs son, and his gear ( stroller/wheelchair and such) I need more utility. I’ve outgrown the Fusion for sure. I’m almost thinking the BS maybe too small. In regards to the Fusion, it ended up being an external transmission cable that needed to be replaced. Since it was outside of the transmission, it was not covered by the powertrain warranty. $555 with labor and tax. Not horrible but more than I wanted to pay. As it gets older, I expect certain things to wear out. It’s a gamble the longer you own a car and precisely why I’m eyeing a new one possibly in 2023.
  23. I'm aware. Bronco, Bronco Sport, Maverick, and Ranger are all prospects I have in mind. Suburu wagon also might get a look. No idea what the inventory will look like in a year. I want to assume it will be better but there is no guarantee.
  24. I was driving through some neighborhoods yesterday and got stuck by a moving truck. Reversed to get to another street and it wouldn’t go back in drive. I tried everything but it kept giving me a fault message. Annoying. Had it towed to the dealership. That powertrain warranty looks like it was a good idea! After searching online I think I have an idea. There is a cheap connector to trans that wears out. I’ll find out tomorrow. A 2017 with 91k and I’ve been thinking about a replacement. However, I’d rather buy in 2023…. when inventory is a little better.
  25. In comparison to how many of these engines they make, I'd guess that this falls well under 1% failure rate. I think it's the hyperbole associated with BG6 that this has gotten legs. I hear it's a valve issue. Maybe a bad batch came out? Ford obviously is aware of these and until we get a TSB or recall, we'll have no idea how many engines are effected.
