This post is right where it belongs, since it is all about the Chrysler LX chassis vehicles....you bemoan the loss of Panther and the delay (intended or otherwise) of a replacement for RWD applications when all the sales charts in the marketplace are pointing downward for large rear wheel driven sedans....but, nooooooooooo.....We want Ford to invest heavily into this segment so that the few remaining stalwarts to a dying sedan chassis layout can buy one......used of course since most everyone that is a fan of large rear wheel driven sedans that post their opinion here usually wait until they can buy one used to save $$$.

Isn't the Grand Cherokee (and by default, the Dodge Durango) built off a previous design Mercedes chassis?

I will only agree to one part of this post....I was never crazy about the name....but I am glad they didn't name it Galaxie or some other "re-newed" old name.

The intent of the award is to recognize a "leap" in the evolution of the genre a particular vehicle segment. Silverado HD: Good upgrade, but essentially serves the same market and covers no new ground Jeep Grand Cherokee: ditto Dodge Durango: see above Ford Explorer: Ford threw out the book on what Explorer was and re-wrote it to bring Explorer in line with where the marketplace is heading, all while paying heed to her existing base of customers. A huge risk for Ford to take, but to re-hash Explorer any other way would have regulated it to "also ran" status. As an aside: Chevrolet Volt deserves the NA Car of the Year award due to it's likewise re-writing of what is to be expected of EV's....right, wrong or otherwise...it is also a game changer in the market and eveyrone is watching it

Actually, this vehicle would be great for my elderly parents. They don't drive much anymore and small trips around town seem to be the only ventures they do go on. A huge plus is that Dad has a 240v outlet in the garage for his Arc welder that he doesn't use any more.....things that make you go, "hmmmmm..."

Contrary to your assumption....you can have a differing opinion, but when you post it here on an enthusiast site for the Ford Motor Company....what did you expect?

It would be like Ford rolling out a new division called FMC.......GM could "upscale" the Chevrolet truck line with differing grilles, something Ford has done for years for the upscale customer....GMC is a useless division....

I hope they get it fixed by the time I am ready to replace my '06 Fusion SE with a new Fusion with an Ecoboost I4.....really like the MyFord Touch....just don't want all the drama. It would be cool if Ford could make it wireless internet capable....I could park in my driveway and obtain the latest update from Fords' download site via my wireless internet connection (passkey encrypted of course) in my house. That would really be a time saver instead of driving to the dealership for every update.

The bigger question looming now is when will Ford enter Lincoln into this marketplace? The Mercury version of the Focus was stillborn, now it seems that with all full line manufacturers coming down into the compact segment it is only a matter of time for Ford to dust off the "never shown" Mercury Tracer, re-do the front end into a split bow grille design and roll out the MK?.......

And in the same article, Mercury was damn near at the bottom.....go figure.

My Ford Touch (and My Lincoln Touch) are the next leap forward in car tele-metrics since the starter moved from the dash to the steering column....I recall when I got my Fusion, it took my a while to get used to the new control stalk layout from my 2000 Focus....and before that...my POS Geo Prizm.....this clamoring of distractions while driving is exactly why advanced tele-metrics such as MFT will succeed.....government officials squawk about distractions caused by in car systems such as Sync.....it is no different as if you are carrying on a conversation with a person in the passenger or rear seats while driving....same type of distraction....what are you going to do...ban talking in your car altogether?

And?? So much for " more people want RWD than FWD"....

Big announcement?? Lets see......could be: 1.) Panther chassis will be spun off into it's own company 2.) Ranger will be built by new "Panther" manufacturing company 3.) New company will have exclusive rights to Twin I Beam suspension format Tune in @ CES :hysterical:

Keeping my fingers crossed that Jill Wagoner comes with all the Mercury ad money too....
