  1. Any other reports of this TSB 14-0099 listed in post #74 fixing the problem? Don't know if everyone got tired of complaining of the smell or if everyone is having it fixed and no longer has the issue?
  2. Absolutely insane - but I had a friend take his off with a concrete pillar in a parking garage. Cost $1100 for mirror and installation, painting, etc. You know there is some BS in there, but that is what he paid 18 months ago.
  3. Read these forums - especially from a year ago or more. There may be nothing serious wrong with the car, but Ford had major problems getting this car off the line for close to 4 or 5 months. Many changes were made for Job 2 and finally depending on if you want more - you can get cooled seats and heated steering wheel on a '14. If money makes the difference, it is a risk. If you can afford the extra and you think the new car is worth it and you are going to drive it a while - don't look back, buy the new one. This is an awesome car - love it, but would definitely stay away from those built early on, esp a buy back - for any reason. Plus for that pricing - I haven't kept up the last month or two, but you mentinoed SE - The loaded Titanium only lists for 36K - forget X plan - go negotiate hard, use that as a starting place only, if there are any rebates at all - you can drive the Titanium for 33K.
  4. In the Dallas area - received a totally unsolicited Ford brochure - included a $750 coupon. I had requested and received a couple of brochures and coupons back in the Spring, but had not received anything from Ford since then, then last week out of the blue another brochure and coupon came.
  5. I'm all about black cars - my last 3 have been - a black Cougar and 2 black GMC's - I'm probably moving to a Ford truck next, this color would get me to leave black, I hope they offer it in the truck too. Very cool color. Need to go find one to see in person.
  6. Every vendor/platform has benefits to different people, all I can say is that both Ford and the GM systems of today could use some work. They should put some pretty simple and very reliable functionality in to control the basic systems that have been in the cars for year - then just add VNC capabilities for the touch screens- I don't want them to spend millions and millions to develop yet more platforms that some will like and some won't. Just implement some VNC standards - let me throw the screen of my preferred device/phone/table to the screen in the car - and share my internet connection from that device and it would be so much cheaper on everyone - namely you and me the consumer. Instead there will be debates for the years to which is better and who likes what, but none will ever be perfect of satisfy everyone. So give me options and choice by using something as simple as vnc and make me much happier as the consumer.
  7. As the OP of the thread - quick follow up - Had mine in to the dealer today and told them I wanted the problem noted and investigated - they did as I figured and marked the service order "NPF" - no problem found. At least they know I've noted it and asked for a resolution. They have none as of now. I guess as long as everyone will asked to have it looked into when you are in for any kind of service - maybe it will show up some day and get some attention. Since we didn't just start making cars yesterday I would hope and think they'd have better engineering than this. I'm sure it could be a multitude of problems as others have mentioned and maybe even mold, but we are way too advanced for stupidity in engineering like that. The only suggestion from the service advisor was as a few others have mentioned - turn the AC off before stopping the car. I was never sure why - but he said so that the internal vents would open - when the AC is in the off position - they open for "vent" or outside air. Don't know if it might help some or not - that will be a hard habit to createas I've never done that in the 32 years of driving. Keep having it documented - might get someone's attention or at least a design change.
  8. Well - it sucks others have the problem, but glad to know we aren't the only ones. Hope Ford will recognize, find and fix the issue if possible. If figure there is a problem somewhere that won't be easy to fix. Something that holds water and doesn't drain well from condensation around the AC system. If anyone gets resolution from the problem please post and keep us updated. Don't have any other reason right now to go to the dealer.
  9. Have noticed two different behaviors that seem to be random after remote starting the car. Have not made any setting changes for the climate system, but after remote starting and getting in and pushing the start button some times the AC continues to blow and maybe the fan adjusts up or down with no interruption. Other times just after pushing the start button the blower completely stops and then after a second or two it comes back on to auto, just like it had been before shutting the car off the last time. Anyone else noticed this behavior? Haven't made any changes to the settings for auto start, just seems to be random on what it chooses to do.
  10. Just the last few weeks when starting the car - the AC has a bad smell for 10 to 15 seconds. I'm in Dallas, so the AC is on all day if the car is on. The car hasn't been sitting for a few days or anything. You can drive it - go back an hour later and it has the same smell again when you start it. It's a musty smell that clears up, but annoying. Anyone else have similar issues?
  11. Once you put it on - it isn't going anywhere.
  12. Snapped these a few days ago. Love the shark fin from Visual Garage. The car is Tuxedo Black and I'd say the paint on the Shark fin is a perfect match. Haven't noticed any degraded signal. Sirius and GPS both work just fine. Rarely listen to any FM or HD stations. I think delivery was about 2 weeks, don't recall exactly - I ordered this the day after ordering the car - so it sat on the shelf a few weeks waiting on the car to come in. For the installation - make sure and do the test fit a couple of times and use plenty of "marking" tape as described in the instructions so you know exactly where you want it during installation. Once you peel the backing off the adhesive tape and start to install it - there isn't much any backing out - that stuff is sticky. Love it though however, a very nice addition to the car. Not the best pics - these were just phone pics after washing the other day.
  13. IceCapades - thanks for your insight. I figured as much as well on the price being locked in at order time. We got the $400 price increase last month on the Fusion. When we got to the dealer to do final negotiations the dealer became as slimy as many others seem to be (you are excluded here). To order the car it took 45 minutes and the best experience ever. I'm done working with handshakes and good will though. When the car arrived they said they wouldn't sell the car at the price we had agreed to on the order date. Said they would have to eat the cost of the price increase so it was getting passed along. I was happy up front when we ordered - the deal was $500 below invoice. Nothing more/nothing less. After the deal was done though - they tacked on the $400 increase and another $200 dent and ding insurance contract they swore they adjusted the price of the car for (the dealer owns the "company" that does that repair). I questioned both, but my signature wasn't the one going on the purchase - it was my partners, he was just ready to sign and walk out the door - it happens to many. I was ready to challenge both, but he said just move on. I didn't have a copy of the DORA - although we signed it to commit to the order and we didn't leave the dealership with the final PO information as the loan didn't get funded for a few days. They mailed it to us a few days later So while they agreed to sell $500 below invoice - they ended up selling for probably $100 over. We took the $400 increase and the $200 was not adjusted out of the final negotiation price - it was truly tacked on. So - if you are looking for a dealership in Dallas Texas I would add Bob Tomes Ford as another to avoid or go in with your suit of armor as you'll have to deal with the slime there as well. I personally drive a pickup and while I'm about 95% sure I'll finally leave GMC and move to Ford in the next year, this all makes me want to stay with GMC as Sewell GMC is one of the best most straight forward dealers I've ever dealt with. I've never seen anyone be as straight forward as they are and not waiver. The dealer could honestly be enough down the road to keep me a GM driver although I'm liking the Ford product better. I prefer not to go back to any of the 3 Ford dealerships we dealt with on this purchase. Not sure where I'll go - at least there are many options in the Dallas area - guess I'll have to try and find another one.
  14. I'm sure both are very good, I can't compare to the AAA as I don't have it, ordered the DayVue version and am very happy with it. A fraction of the fingerprints and actually does make the display even easier to read. Just throwing it out there that it doesn't sound like you can go wrong with either version.
  15. This is one of the coolest features I think on the car and like it a lot. Also curious about the brake lights coming on when the car slows down. I will say it seems that the car does go from acceleration to brakes without much coast time in between. This will kill any gas mileage, as you'd typically lift your foot a bit before going straight to brakes. So it really still isn't a perfect science I hope they continue to tweak this. I guess the real answer as well as it isn't an option that you can use in very heavy traffic as you are from gas to brakes and back again it seems. On the highway or less traffic it'd be perfect, but have only been able to use it on the Tollway in Dallas - and there is just too much traffic for it to work in an efficient way. Aftermarket add on - I guess anything is feasible, but due to the liability issues that come with something like this - I'm sure factory integration is only way. As others mentioned, you've got to have the radar module which is built into the lower grill too - lots of integration.
