  1. Here is a video of someone replacing the Evap in a Mazda Tribute. They are the same as Escape. It's not a fun repair. Wont be to bad if you have some experience removing plastic panels. A good memory of where all the bolts go back to, also helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4z1t7Vqkr0 Hope it helps: Good luck
  2. Talk to an independent transmission mechanic first, it could be a easy repair. If not I would go for a used transmission. Good luck
  3. Could be a front Sway Bar Link, bad bearing or even a bad CV joint etc. It could even be loose wheel nuts. Hard to tell from the description. Most mechanics should have no problem diagnosing your problem.
  4. What you are looking for is a Blower Motor Resistor. This is a comen issue with a lot of cars. In your Escape it is located behind the glove box, and top of the heater plenum. Just fold in the tabs on the side of the glove box door. Then fold it down towords the floor. Reach up on top of the plenum and disconect the harness from the resistor. Use a 1/4 inch ratched and loosen the two 8mm bolts. Once they are loose you can screw them out with your fingers. Pull straight up on the resister to remove it. Put it all back together in reverse order. Should not take more then 10 minutes start to finish. I have a NAPA number BR491, but they may ask for a build date or VIN number. Hope this is some help to you.
  5. I also have a 2.5 engine in my 09 Escape and with the 6 speed transmission you need to be light on the throttle. If your not it wil spin the wheels with ease. As for the ABS it makes a lot of noise and pulse the brake pedal. I also have a Impala which acts the same with the ABS trying to control the stopping distance but does not qiute sound the same as the Escape, The Escape sounds like it stripping gears when you first hear it. So are you saying the brake pedal in youre Escape actually kicks back at you instead of pulsing? 09escape
  6. I have a 09 Escape XLT with a 2.5 with automatic transmission. Had an ongoing problem with Sync and dealer finally changed the Sync module and it woks perfect now. Love the GPS that works amazingly. Had a recall on the Transmission for reprogramming and that’s it. Everything was covered by warranty. Love driving it. 09escape
  7. We own a 09 with the 4 cylinder and it has a lot of power. This I think is due to the six speed automatic. The engine is a little noisy when you get on the gas but will get up and go. This is my wife's car so the first time I drove it on a multy lane highway and needed to get in fast I was amazed with the power. I actually had to back off on the throttle. In my opinion you will love it. 09escape
  8. Yes I have a 09 Escape with the Husky brand Mats and they do fit. At the time we purchased them there was no listing for the 09. They had a pair for a older application so we tried them and they fit. 09escape
  9. Sounds like you have a defective injector. Get yourself a new or used injetor along with some new O rings. It's the only way to know for sure. I have just had the same problem with a Chrysler product.
  10. GopherM have you had any luck getting your display issue resolved. My dealer has told me there is no fix to have the date show when the Radio, Jukebox or Sat Radio is on. As you know the the display will only show the date if you are in CD or DVD mode. They reflashed my system last week due to sync issues. Now the clock in the centre that used to tell me when the engine was started will just keep on running along with the clock on the top right hand of the display.
  11. I also called Ford of last week for the second time now. The person on the other end told me he would refere the center stack issue to engineering. He also said someone from there may call me. I wish someone would call and just say that they are working on the issue. 09escape
  12. Yes we have done a master reset. We have not driven the FE since the dealer re-flash. So I don't know if that fixed the Sync issue permenently. Pauli have you had luck getting the Centre Stack issue resolved? 09escape
  13. With the Centre Stack issue we all need to keep in tough with the Nav help desk to get this resolved. (800-392-3673) In my opinion if we don't bug them they won't fix it. 09escape
  14. By unstable I mean when the USB stick was inserted it did not show up but when it was removed the system showed USB REMOVED. When I tried to use sync I would get a error message like SYSTEM Does Not Support Bluetooth. When using the Media button the voice would disappear sometimes. Yet it would still take my voice commands but would not let me use the phone. It would say No Phone but I could manually see the address book. The whole system would also freeze forcing me to pull over turn the key off then open and close the door and start it up again. I think the Sync 1.2 upgrade may have caused most of the problems except for the freezing. That was there from the beginning. Sync worked OK today but it has only been a day since the dealer re-flashed the system. Like I wrote in a earlier post the re-flash did not fix the Centre Stack Display Issue that we are all having.
