  1. One last thing would you state why the Level date should not have been put in place. You have to understand that most places that are even private allow employees to transfer to another store, factory, etc. It really is in place to protect our status... It only protects the status of an employee that has greater than Oct. 29th 1984 seniority in their home plant. It serves no purpose to the rest of us and I believe is only useful in the purpose of job bids and upgrades. It should be omitted from the next contract to make it fair for everyone. Why should a 30 plus employee have protected staus when the rest of do not?
  2. Livonia also was down to one shift in the early 80's. Lost my job for 9 years in that one. I have a question that's been asked of me many times by lower senoirty employees. What was worse, the 80's or now? Any one care to comment?
  3. I can not say that my Nov. 1st. date is definite. They asked me when I wanted to leave and that's the date she wrote on my request. Through the first 2 buyouts at Livonia, there was no problem with anyone being held up longer than the date they chose so I assume there will be no problem with mine. I wil know for certain around the 1st. of Oct. as they send out your retirement papers 30 days prior to your retirement date.
  4. Just enjoy life for awhile. Fortunately I will not need to seek further employment but I may get bored an choose to re enter the work force at some point in time. I know that's not much of a plan but for now it works for me.
  5. Just got back from signing up. I'm out Nov. 1st. Good Luck to all.
  6. I'm on a TLO. I will sign up when I get back to work on the 15th. I'm quite sure you can probably sign up any time regardless of your status. Just my feeble attempt at a little humor.
  7. The buyouts are finally open for Mihigan and North east Ohio. Go to www.yourjobconnection.org for the list of plants where the buyouts are avalible. Now if I can get off this damn lay off I can sign up. Always something.
  8. I think you are right. I know people at Livonia that want to take the buyout that would not even consider it before. We shall see.
  9. The republicans have destroyed this country over the last 8 years. In the past I did not adhere to either party as I voted for who I thought would do the best job. I am proud to say that I did not vote for Bush either time. I know an asshole when I see one and all I see coming down the pike is one more. If I live to be 100 yrs. old, I will never vote for another greedy out of touch republican. If you think the republican party gives a damn about people like you and me, you are sorely mistaken. Hillary was my choice but it did not go that way. That's politics.
  10. I'm quite sure that given the opportunity, you would take a double up job and I in turn would have no problem working whatever assembly line job that was given to me. Whatever the job is you have to do it if you want to get paid. The reason I'm taking the buyout is because I can and also to help some one like you keep their job.
  11. Did you work lead off in dept. 305? I can't say for sure but you might be back sooner than you think. There is quite a few people waiting for the buyouts to open up. Many of the 30 plus people are unhappy with the current situation because they actually have to work now. All the screw off jobs are gone. I intend to leave myself with 22 years. It's just not the same anymore since you all left. I hate day shift and all the white shirts that came with it. Cut the line to the bone. No more double up jobs.
  12. It appears that some plants are being offered packages. Check out yourjobconnection.org They have the packages listed there for Kentucky, Indiana and southern Ohio. Nothing for Michigan and Northern Ohio, but they are listed so I'm hoping info will be avalible soon.
  13. What's your seniority, If you don't mind.
  14. At least that's something. Local 182 and labor at Livonia are useless. Thank's
