  1. Mixed feelings on this.

First, if one is going to do a film, it should have paint correction done first.  Assuming the paint is perfect with no blemishes or hair lines in the clear coat then ok but I don't trust factory paint.

The price is good, I paid about $6,200 for my gt350 to be fully wrapped with xpel.  However, I get a 10 year warranty, no mileage limitations where for is 3/36k.  That's a crap warranty for such an expensive option.

Lastly if you do have a warranty issue, I'd be concerned about a dealer handling this unless they sub it out.  No way would I want a tech replacing the film who doesn't do this every day.

Wow, F Series sales down to 48,000 last month is a concern but the upside is that

total F Series inventory seems under control with 168,000 In pre-COVID times that

number would often be well over 200,000 and big end of MY invectives were common.

Thanks to rmc532 for providing all the data, sales, production and inventory

Mach E sales crashed last month to 1,295 while total inventory stands at 21,500,

no wonder Ford wants to cut production, they can’t give them away at the moment….

Ask yourself how long until Ford starts waving the white flag and quick sales them.

While Ford doesn’t break out Lightning production from Dearborn plants totals for F150,

it’s a pretty safe assumption that if Kansas city is producing 10,000, then it an easy guess

that the Dearborn plant’s 16,000 figure represents about 10,000  F150s and about 6,000 Lightnings..

Its pretty easy to see if US sales stay about 2,200 then production must be cut in half (begins April).

Ford now has a new “Super Segment” of compact vehicles comprising of Maverick, Escape and Bronco Sport.

Looking across the combined sales figure of +33,000 it’s easy how the three vehicles work together but again

mounting inventory for Maverick (18,700), Escape (28,300) and Bronco Sport (29,600) should dispel an ideas

that Ford production supplies are still restricted…….

What shocked me even more was Explorer sales 18,885 and total inventory swelling to 46,600 units.

Additionally, Aviator inventory is around 7,900 so maybe some good deals are on the way….

And I’ll say this about Ford’s heavy trucks, when Ford only sells 737  and has over 5,100 in inventory,

    then something has to change..fast.

With the 25 Explorer redesign and order banks open as well as 2nd quarter deliveries, I am sure you will see good deals on the 24 explorer

Man, how do they handle working 2 day shift and 2 overnights?  That has to mentally/physically screw up your body and sleep patterns.

From what I've read over on  tdiclub.com VW is again having to buy back TDIs they can't fix, hope they give you a decent price!

That's correct.  They denied my first request.. but I believe after speaking with my service manager they are going to approve it this time...  Still waiting for word on what direction we are going.

Have had a DEF fault and CEL as well as using a full tank of DEF in about 4,000 miles where it's supposed to last 16k+.  My exhaust pipe is covered in white soot from the excessive DEF.  It's been in 9 times for this..  replaced NOX sensor twice, DEF heater/pump, DEF injector...   I got my car back on Wednesday evening last week after them having it for 23 days...   "all fixed"... Thursday afternoon, CEL and DEF fault, no start in 200 mile warning lol.  Been at dealer since Friday.  Between the dealer having the car and me having it but waiting on parts, we are at 95 days of some time of service for warranty.

Funny thing is, dealer knows it can't be fixed... already admitted it.  google searching the code I get leads to forums saying there is no fix.  I've had some really good in-depth conversations with the Service manager who 100% has my back (wish I recorded some of these conversations) but he has been on conference calls with corporate on how they can't wait for the 10 years to be up on these cars (my warranty is up in April of 24 on the emissions scandal).. and VW's direction to the dealers are, reset the code and let them drive off and cross their fingers it doesn't come back.  They are waiting to start the celebration of the warranty being over.

To add to all that, up until a little over a month ago, I was denied a loaner vehicle the whole time.  It wasn't till I read the court order and agreement that VW is required to provide a rental/loaner for any emissions repair beyond 3 hours (every single repair is beyond 3 hours).  So they've been in breach this whole time.

Sorry, I went way off topic....   lol..  but man, this is driving me nuts.

At that is moment, national dealer stock of Mach E has risen to just over 15,400,

pits been bumping up about 1,000 a month for the last three months or so…

Seriously, if buyers were interested, dealers would be moving a lot more vehicles than they are..

I think it’s everything and not just one thing, prices, bad press on Mach E problems, interest rates,

talk of reducing tax credits, prices and dealer mark ups - all have  contributed to the current apathy?

maybe it’s just easier for folks to go buy a Tesla Y and avoid all the ‘pain’ that comes with owning a Ford.

I'm working on a buyback right now for my VW.  My plan was to get an EV because my commute is approximately 700 miles a week across 6 days.  Biggest problem while I wait for the buyback is that as stated, the Mach-E is losing its credit.  The Y with the full $7,500 and it coming off immediately come Jan 1st is a major attraction to it despite me not really wanting a Tesla.

Other options are a few vehicles that are getting 40+mpg in the $25k range.

    Absolutely.   See the example above.

    Directly from the IRS:

The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. You can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.

So then it will absolutely benefit those who miss out by only getting a partial credit as they will get the full $7,500 immediately off the vehicle.

It doesn’t change your returns.  Think of it as a payday loan.  If you can’t take the full credit when you file you have to pay it back.

I was under the impression it worked like when I had solar put on.  Received the 30%  fed rebate but it took 3 years to get it back in full due to my tax liability each year.

So with cars, if you can't collect it in the first tax return, you lose what you didn't get?

    Here’s a thought — or question I suppose.

Is it possible that news that most manufacturers were adopting the Tesla charging system within a couple of years, making it de facto charging standard, have caused some potential EV buyers to suddenly change plans and sit on the sidelines a bit longer?  I think it’s called the Osborne effect, and can affect sales.  Maybe average buyer doesn’t know much, but I wouldn’t buy any EV other than Tesla today knowing this change is coming soon.  There are short-term options, but wonder if potential buyers feel more comfortable waiting a year or two until new charging is fully integrated?  If nothing else resale might be penalized.

I can tell you that if I was going to buy an EV, I'd wait till January with the new fed tax rebate law.  It will be able to be applied towards the price immediately instead of waiting for your tax return.

And depending on your tax liability, could take several years to get it back in full currently.

? huh? ICE is most definitely not cheaper , but there are more choices.....name aEV price there will be an multiple ICE equivilents.....exactly how many ICE vehicles are avail below 30k? whats the average Transaction price now? ...and keep in mind , with ICE theres far fewer warts and restrictions...

My passat tdi was in for service.. battling an ongoing emissions issue.  I average about 42mpg and travel about 700 miles a week.

I was given a Jetta as a loaner vehicle.  2023 with their 1.5T motor...   it's peppy and I averaged 46-47mpg with it.. I couldn't believe it.  And they are about $23k brand new.  If I focused in mpg, I'm confident I could get close to 50mpg.

    At $23k and almost 50mpg on 87 octane, I wouldn't go EV.

  11. As if DPFs weren't bad enough, now Ford is adding Gasoline Particulate Filters to the 2.0s and rumor has it the 5.0 (haven't found confirmation on the 5.0 yet).

The will have both passive and active regens....   As if being built in China wasn't bad enough.

Ive seen pics of the training video but here is the actual video posted on tik tok where you can hear the video discuss it.

But, but, but....they have one million orders!

Adam Jonas, auto analyst at Morgan Stanley, figures the Cybertruck is a niche vehicle that may sell 50,000 units/year.  I question even that number.

isn't it 2 million??  That's the latest I read whether accurate or not.

All I have to say is... BWAHAHAHA

Just what you’d expect from the market leader in terms of models and configurations.

The exterior looks hideous to me but the interior isn’t bad.

Interesting they took the same hybrid approach as Ford - more power rather than max mpg.

I agree, the headlights are too squinty for such an enormous overdone front bumper.  But at least they are consistent with their hideous from ends.
