  1. I think ultimately it was just a good public event for Ford to roll out their product guys (the Mustang program manager spoke to the crowd) to speak of the Mustang and their success with it. It really didn’t cost much more than their travel costs, as no press kits, no stage set up, no chairs put out, no food or drink costs, beyond the usual auto show costs. Oddly they didn’t talk about the Mustang GTD which was center stage on the floor, but maybe that speaks for itself lol All in all, I’m happy Ford had a vibrant presence at this years press days. (But still sore Lincoln was absent!)
  2. So I'm at the show and my guess of them introducing the 2025 Expedition was wrong. In fact, nothing was actually introduced, just a quick discussion about Mustang and its upcoming 60th (anniversary package to debut April 17). Plus a review of the various Mustangs on display, including the Mach E. Overall it's nice to see the Mustang get center stage again (last year they had just 2, this year 6 Mustangs and a few Mach E's) Still disappointed no big debut though!
  3. I highly suspect they will reveal the 2025 Expedition tomorrow. I belong and write for to a local NJ Mustang club and been attending the show for 30+ years on press days. In years past we would hear of Mustang celebrations and members would be asked to bring their classic Mustangs to display at the actual Ford stand, but nothing this year. The show falls too soon for the April 17th Mustang Day anyway. So I think it will be the mostly new Expedition, my 2 cents! BTW Ford usually has done 10 year anniversaries out at Flushing Meadows (Site of NY worlds fair) but we heard nothing about that too. Seeing they have a traveling road show it seems that is how they will celebrate the 60th anniversary this year.
  4. I suspect the Expedition is debuting in NY, it’s just sad Lincoln is sitting out the show as for years (like 20+ years) they made NY their primary place to debut concepts and new models. They would stress how NY was the luxury market capital of America too. I guess we are seeing how “the auto show as a press circuit” is really dead sadly.
  5. The Jeep thing is fun! This year Ford has a matching Bronco off road adventure outside there too, so that’s a plus!
  6. Yeah this is the main floor….downstairs which used to be mostly all trucks and small manufacturers, is now mostly all Electric. There used to use an upstairs space as well, and even an addition next-door was used, most recently for all of GM’s brands. Now it’s just this, sad!
  7. Yes, and unfortunately no Lincoln press conference. In fact, Lincoln is not even attending the event, first time ever I believe! I’m so bummed as I go every year for press days, was hoping for 2025 Navigator debut here.
  8. Automotive News does have end date of Feb 29 for the current models, and a start date of Job 1 for the revised Navigator and Expedition of March 3, 2024, so this will drop soon! Which is good, as the Escalade is getting updated too and there’s other new models in this market.
  9. Didn’t someone report this update will hit early 2024? Maybe Automotive News?
  10. It seemed that just as Covid hit, the next big thing was autonomous vehicles, and everyone was jumping on that wagon! Then the movement to electric vehicles came next and it seemed to move to that. I think the short term realities of autonomous vehicles woken everyone up, as it seemed to me it was too much to fast towards them without the tech to catch up. Honestly I’m glad that quieted down!
  11. I think we need to remember this is Automotive News, which has a pretty lame record for reporting on future product with accuracy. (Unlike years ago when they had really good scoops and info) Basically what they report as upcoming was all stuff we already read from an Auto Forecast Solutions report from fall 2022. And while it could be accurate, with the amount of change FMC has been going through lately it’s possible it’s changed or wasn’t correct to begin with. What does sound accurate is the mention that Lincoln’s new president has backed down from previous BEV models and debut timeline, as she gave an interview months back that supports that claim from AN.
  12. Here’s the base 2024 Nautilus for comparison….I don’t understand why they even bother to tool up for this version and instead just include the light bar on all.
  13. It’s the base model, same as base new Nautilus. The next trims up have a light bar going to through the Lincoln emblem. I’m more concerned about the tail, looks like nothing was done there! Lincoln has a pattern of not updating their tails unfortunately.
  14. I hit 109mph in mine back in the day lol The rear passive steering really helped the car tuck in on corners and you could really feel it. Yeah too bad Ford killed all many coupes around ‘97…it wasn’t an airbag thing, if I recall they moved to more trucks, and the market was dying? The Cougar was an interesting addition and gave Mercury a unique coupe.
  15. I loved my 1994 Probe GT Wild Orchid feature car! Had it for since new, for 10+ years, 110,000 miles, it aged very well and was always fun to drive! Unfortunately it got hit and totaled in late 2006. I found out now only 3,576 were made, and only 1,789 were 5-speeds like mine! It’s a future classic for sure! I consider my 2019 Mustang Bullitt a cousin, as they both came from Flat Rock, maybe same folks worked on both!
  16. I saw that too, would be wild if they did actually add this to a future model. When the Rivian Lincoln was being rumored in 2020 one leak discussed here was it would “gift the driver with an unmistakable entrance”….hmm this fits that bill!
  17. Well the good thing is Lincoln’s average transaction prices have gone up dramatically, 14% from a year ago, and are #7 of the top ten! https://www.carscoops.com/2023/04/average-new-car-transaction-prices-drop-below-msrp-for-the-first-time-in-nearly-2-years/
  18. Well don’t forget the MKZ had the worlds only fully retractable glass roof! It really was an amazing feature with the largest opening of its kind. Too bad the Zephyr didn’t continue with it. It seemed to sell well.
  19. Wow I love the new tail on that esp, too bad we didn’t get it. Maybe later? Hopefully the Aviator will adapt this look for 2024, but Lincoln does have a habit of doing zilch to their tails when they do mid cycle updates (2022 Navigator is only exception I can think of!)
  20. Well if their original plan changed since last year, maybe they should consider updating their website as it still shows 3 electric vehicles by 2025 and 4th by 2026! ?
  21. Thanks for posting! I couldn’t read it on AN as it required a subscription, but I did hear the podcast which had some of this info. She really stressed the importance of Lincoln being unique from Ford and making highly desirable vehicles. In regards to their upcoming electric vehicles, I wonder what she means by getting them right…is it what they will sell for? Range? Placement in market? Features? Looks? Profit level? Time will tell!
  22. It looks like they really made many more items standard on all trims, I guess easier to build/order/ship. Up to 22” wheels, wow! New Black Label theme debuts here too…Redwood. Most interiors have black seats it seems. The new hybrid is the first use of Ecoboost engine, should be more powerful!
  23. The digital scent is something they debuted in China, and now offered here.
  24. I’m thinking the huge new screen will also support the new Apple CarPlay that takes over more/most of the car functions….Ford was mentioned as one of the makers who signed up to support it. If so it will be interesting and pretty newsworthy, and also counters GM’s recent announcement that they will soon stop supporting CarPlay (and Android)
