  1. Howdy! I sold my last Mustang a few years when I moved into northeastern Pennsylvania - up here you need a 4WD in winter and I could only afford one car. Well, we're getting to the point where I could use a daily driver that does better on fuel. And is FUN. So, what else is a man to do? Get back into Mustangs of course!!!!! SO THEN, I'm on the lookout for a good used Mustang. I don't need the V8, and I don't want a turbo, so I'll be looking for a V6 convertible. My initial research says the 2017 V6 'Verts w/ Automatic transmissions were pretty good. Does anyone have a good source of info for reliability? I don't use CR (Their data comes from their readers? NO ONE I know subscribes to them.) I also heard the 5-Speed manuals were more reliable then the newer 6 speed manuals? Really? Any pointers would be appreciated.
  2. Hello, Recently purchased a CPO 2015 Ford Flex Limited AWD. Dealer said mileage for warranty was 12,000 - WELL THEY LIED. It is a 'blue' CPO so only 4,000 mile coverage. We found several issues in last 2 months, hoping these have solutions? 1. Seat belt is 'catchy', not smooth. 2. Center front console has a broken lid latch. 3. 'Whistling' noise when at highway speed from front pillars area. Anyhow, spouse is very happy to be in a Flex again - the 4Runner we had was too 'truck' for her. If anyone has any tips on fixing these, please let me know, I don't think Ford will help me.
  3. Hello - After we left California and moved to northeast Pennsylvania, we sold our Ford Flex & Ford Mustang. We had a 4Runner for the family car, but my spouse missed her old Flex - so guess what? Tada! Back in a Ford Flex. A 2015 Ford Flex Limited AWD. Bit of a hiccup as the dealership told me CPO bumper-to-bumper was 12,000 - only to find "blue" certified is only 4,000 miles! OF COURSE we found some issues and now we are S.O.L.! Hope to catch up on some reading and figure out solutions. 1. Seat belt is 'catchy', not smooth. 2. Center front console has a broken lid latch. 3. 'Whistling' noise when at highway speed from front pillars area. If anybody has pointers lemme know please!
  4. Hello, Interested in a 4x4 F150. I'd driven vehicles in snowy/rainy/freezing mixed/tricky driving areas in Pennsylvania mountains... really appreciated automatic 4WD mode. I noticed 2018 F150 has this available on Lariat+ models. I'd be happier with a XLT. Any way to get the Auto 4WD on a XLT?
  5. I hope Ford doesn't simply offer a "Ford Wrangler". What are the peeves of Wranglers? 1. Slow and not highway savvy. 2. Either soft windows that are criminal/ scratch magnets and a pain to remove 3. or a HEAVY hard-top that is not easy to take down. 4. Cramped seats. Back seat has no recline! I hope Bronco can: 1. Be quick & agile at highway speeds (while retaining decent off-road capability) 2. Offer a true convertible experience. 3. or have a folding top that can stay on in more situations. 4. Wider seats! And back seats that can recline a little (some of us have kids!!!)
  6. Howdy everyone, long time no post. I am currently "in the market" for a small 4x4 that can get me to work in nearly all weather conditions - blizzards to fun & sun. I am leaning HEAVY towards a JL Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara (mostly due to auto 4x4 mode on transfer case). I plan on buying by this winter, but I may hold out if Ford's Bronco is a viable option. Any likely introduction dates yet?
  7. Still no word if Ford will continue the Flex? We LOVE our quick little wagon! Add opening rear quarter windows (like Sienna), offer a Flex style PanaVista sunroof and freshen up the dash and it'd be the cat's meow!
  8. Hi everyone, long time no see! Since posting last, we've bought a Flex. I had always appreciated the interior, but I have to say we've come to love the overall design. There are a few quirks we'd like to see improved, but overall we think it's a smart, functional, elegant design. What our 2011 lacks is power and mileage...
  9. Ford Celestia 5 passenger convertible (2+3) Pure electric or hybrid models Primarily a commute vehicle. Similar concept to C-Max Built on Mustang platform. 200 mile pure electric range. Makes an excellent 2nd car.
  10. I test-drove a 4dr Jeep Wrangler Unlimited a few months ago. Pitiful. Poor road manners, sardine-can-like interior, and gutless. Perhaps this is a selling point. Whatever. If a majority of new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited owners plan to drive them primarily on-road, I wonder what the draw is. For me, it was the removable roof, 5 seatbelts & 4WD. Sadly, these selling points were not enough to overcome the cons (in my opinion). I hope Ford indeed does something unique. Need it be a Rubicon Warrior? Maybe not. Something more "Isuzu Amigo" and less "Jeep Wrangler" would be good in my book.
  11. After a financial difficulty, our plans to replace our aging Toyota Sienna was postponed 1-2 years. However, for our suburban California locale, in a climate that gets pretty hot in summertime yet next to the Sierras; we figure a 4WD V6 Explorer will be our next family hauler. We also hope to purchase a pop-up <2500 lbs. to tow... an F-150, Ecoboost or not, is too big for our garage.
  12. Thunderbird is not a sedan. It is a concept of open air freedom, for two, in style. If Ford returned the Thunderbird, retiring baby boomers may recall the feeling of the original '55 Thunderbirds... (I willfully blot my memory of the 70-80s T-Birds). The Ford Thunderbird would compete with the Mercedes SLK & BMW Z4. Of course, SVT COULD make a 'Vette fighter.... =)
  13. It would be nice if Ford allowed users to customize some buttons. The 2012 Mustang SYNC doesn't allow one-button access to Bluetooth audio... ya gotta go through 4-5 actions to get to your BT music... aggravating!
  14. Just saw this on my homepage. Aluminum skins & natural gas factory options? COOL! http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/08/11/is-ford-about-to-build-the-greatest-truck-of-our-g.aspx
  15. My first Ford was also my first new car; a 1991 Ford Escort. No one had what I wanted, so the fleet manager (Phil Johnson, I can't believe I still remember his name!) worked with me to get the EXACTLY as I wanted. For a 19 yr old kid with all his savings of working all summer & Christmas, it was an exciting process! 2 months later I had the car exactly as I wanted. They even had to show how to drive it because I had never driven a stick shift before. LOL it was a *jerky* few miles home. That guy was cool. Years later we ordered our minivan the same way. If you can wait, it's worth it.
  16. It's now on the Chebbie website: http://www.chevrolet.com/city-express-small-van.html (Don't ask why I was there)
  17. The idea is nice: A 5/7 passenger BOF "real" SUV that will ideally out-tow the Traverse. Would be useful in some regions. But it seems to me the Tahoe is very appealing and the Traverse gets it done for the soccer-mom crowd, based on what I observe in the greater Sacramento region.
  18. That'd be great! We plan on keeping the Sienna for at least a year.. maybe by then we'll have info on next gen F150/Expedition. Definitely rather keep it all in Ford family!
  19. I LIKED it! LOL Different strokes... that's why I'd like it as an option, for those of us who'd appreciate it. After reading Ford's 'Social' site there are quite a few folks who've suggested this idea as well. Besides, we don't really NEED the gear selector in the 6th spot, I always imagined the future of the gear selector to end up on the dash as a robust rotary click selector anyway, not as a phony manual. I just hope that day comes sooner rather than later. I really don't want a Tahoe, but I really want a bench seat!
  20. Thanks for your opinion, but I've owned both for more than 3 yrs.... the bench seat in my Buick was *DIVINE* You can never spread your legs as well in buckets... it's just geometry.
  21. Yes, provided the other/back seats are filled. If they're 8 or older they don't need a booster seat either, as by then they are generally >4'9". And I don't know why anyone wouldn't want a bench seat in a family car. They are more comfortable than buckets and the center drops into armrests.
  22. Thanks, yes, we plan on putting the 8 yr old in the center, but only when extended family come with us. Otherwise, it's a nice place to stretch out out, or sit close to my spouse. My old Buick had one, and it's a feature I really miss. The AWD Flex Limited costs about the same as the 4WD Tahoe LS, but with more bells & whistles. The Tahoe, however, can tow much more. It's also wider and more comfortable no matter how you slice it. =( I don't understand why even the Expedition doesn't com with a front bench. Ughh Ford....
  23. Agreed, it's pretty nice. If it had a front bench seat, it'd be on the top of my short list. Our minivan is over 100k miles, and we're researching next car. Sadly, current pick is Chevy Tahoe. (Will be Eibach lowered of course)
  24. I wish Ford would offer an AWD Taurus wagon with a front bench seat. Having 6 seats in a car that's fun to drive and use less gas than a similarly capable SUV would be swell. Even the Explorer or Flex would do well with a front bench seat. Without this, customers will consider a F-150 (if a truck might work) or a Chevrolet Tahoe (if a tidy SUV is preferred).
