  1. I was just wondering if anyone knows. Does Ford keep atleast one model of each vehicle? I am curious if somewhere Ford has a wharehouse full of old cars. I not talking like each year just major design change years and first year stuff. I think it would be cool to see a brand new 1984 Mark VII in storage, or a showroom fresh 90 towncar cartier. Maybe a Showroom SVO mustang. Even better yet a 86 Taurus thats brand new and the trans hasn't broke yet. :reading:
  2. The super duty has automatic vacuum hubs with a manual lock override. The hubs have two positions Auto and lock. It uses a electric vacuum pump and resivoir with a solenoid to activate them. However, if needed, you can go to each hub and manualy lock the hubs.
  3. Interesting article. Maybe just a PR stunt, but kinda funny. BTW, the way I see it, Congress doesn't have any room to critique a company/person's ability to manage money. http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/topstock...ecorations.aspx
  4. I agree that 310 hp isn't alot anymore, but it has decent torque. I didn't buy my 07 150 with the idea I was going to race it. C&D just always seem to highlight certain areas on some vehicles to make it come out on top. They didn't even mention that King ranch is not the top F150 model. What about the work solutions stuff that can be ordered for work trucks or the awesome Navi system. I didn't see any mention about that, yet they were discussing putting work materials in the bed. Also, they said the bed was small but I didn't see a mention that a 6.5' bed is available. The dodge bed is 6'4" Don't get me wrong, the new Ram is so much better than it used to be and it deserves to be recognized. I am just not sure a new grille and some cubbie holes in bed rails qualifies it as the winner.
  5. Anyone see this yet? I was suprised with the outcome. I always wonder if Car and Driver names Ram truck of the year, does Dodge name Car and Driver magazine of the year? I still think alot of these articles are infulenced.
  6. I second that on the VW wheel studs. I could not imagine being on the side of the road at night trying to support the tire and line up the lug bolts and holes. Its difficult enough on a lift. VW is one of my most hated vehicles to work on. I will not purchase one because of the over engineered POS they are. The electrical diagrams are illegible. Oh and I know most European vehicle have wheel lug bolts. But I have just had non pleasent experiences with VW
  7. Personally I hate the Tire pressure monitor. For some reason people think that since its a warning light now, that they are incapable of checking the air pressure in their tires. We get customers that come in all the time with low tire warning light and want us to check it and fill the tires for free. If these customers would come in for regular service intervals, then the tire pressure would be checked and adjusted. Most of them go to Goober lube and then want us to fill the tires up. I know its a safety feature, but it has turned into a hassle for the service department. When they come in, we ask "have you checked your tire pressure?" they always say no why should I do that. What in the world did people do before all these electonic nannies. Lord forbid anyone have to take responsibility for their car's maintenance.
  8. Im sure you would have figured I do know that. So remember, check the track for leaves and junk at least once a year to keep the drains from clogging and wetting you one day when you turn a corner.
  9. Its still a Honda. I dont understand people that have Camaros and mustangs that they have ragged out and put all the BS performance mods and say. Its faster than a Vette or Porsche etc.... Its Still a Honda, Its Still a Mustang, Its still a Camaro..... These people kill me. "its so fast" but it has stock suspension and brakes. So its fairly fast in the straights but it cant turn or stop. All I say is Man I am impressed.
  10. Im sure thats going to be awesome as far as power. I just hope they put some kind of nice clean sporty wheels and maybe lower valances like the edge sport. Something along the lines of the LSE edition LS or edge sport coming out. Something like they did with the SHO. But just dont over do it and make it tacky or under do it like a aerostar "sport" and just add a pinstripe and running boards. lol (yes I know they won't put running boards on a MKS). I like larger cars. I am 6'3 so I need leg room. But I like sportier cars with lots of luxury gadgets. The LS was the closest thing for the money (used ofcourse and except rear leg room)
  11. Its such a shame. I really like the LS. Im keeping my eye out for a good deal on a fully loaded 06. I think the LS is a more of a lincoln than the MKZ. Don't get me wrong, the MKZ is a nice car its just not the LS. Now the MKS is a nice car. Just wish it was a bit sportier.
  12. That makes since, but the LS and S-type are so different. Most people if they werent told, would not have a clue they were twins. I think alot of the bad customer experiences customers received when they came out was that Ford techs and Ford Hotline didn't know how to fix them. They are very complicated vehicles. Wonder where JAG would have been had Ford not helped their quailty as much as they did. Especially in the electrical department. I would think sharing one platform would be the least Jag could do considering how many Billions of dollars they cost Ford to stay afloat.
  13. I know this may have been discussed in the past. But with all the talks of developing a RWD vehicle, why did they kill it and not just update it? I personaly like the LS. The first couple of years were troublesome, but they were fun to drive and were 1000 times better than a Catera. They handled good. My only real complaint was it needed to be stretched. Not enough leg room in the back seat. I talked my mom into looking at a 03 fully loaded LS and she loved it. She kept it for 5 years, (which is a very long time for her) and misses it at times. She drove a 03 CTS and liked the LS alot more. I am currently working on a 00 Jag S-type and even though they look identical on the lift, to me the interior in the LS is much better. I am sure someone on here has the answer. Maybe it was cost. Maybe because they knew Jag was going to be someone elses.
  14. How are they wrong? Ford doesn't offer any manual roofs anymore. Like the old 92-94 explorers. Everything now is power and called moonroof or vista roof correct?
  15. We were told in Ford classes that a Moonroof is a power sliding mechanism and a sunroof is the old manual pop up glass.
  16. Honda has done it for years. Want Accord EX but dont want a sunroof? Sorry better get a LX and add wheels and leather etc... I looked at a Acura TL years ago, and the only options are Navi or not. Type S or Regular. Can you get a MDX with out a moonroof? I know someone that hates heated seats, but her honda came with it cause she wanted Navi. I think its cheaper to just make them with less choices and also attempts to justify those high prices
  17. I have had several used vehicles but only a few new ones. 2003 Taurus 100 Anny edition 2006 Fusion v6 SEL 2007 F-150 FX4 Used 86 Mark 7 LSC (first car) 96 Town Car Several other beater imports for commuting to school and a Jeep
  18. I have installed both Ford accessory and Viper remote starts. The Viper remote start can have more features, but I prefer the Ford Accessory ones in a Ford due to the fact if a problem comes up and you are away from the installing dealer, another dealer can get parts and find wiring diagrams. Plus, the new RMST kits for Fords come with some premaid harness so some of the install is Plug and Play. To me the less cutting wiring the better.

  20. If I hear another person scream the sky is falling, I think I am just going to wear ear plugs to work and disconnect all electronics. All this bitching causes panic and makes it worse. The media is a business and blows everything WAY out of proportion. I am over it. Every election year, especially when the current can't be reelected, some shit always goes on in this country. Sometimes makes me wonder if its all planned so when the newly elected gets in office, they can "fix" the problems. Just a idea not a conspiracy theory. It wasn't a long time ago all I heard was cars need more power, more cup holders, more more more more...... So what happened.... Expedition EL's, Cadillac ESV, 600HP Corvette ZR-1(on its way), Headrest DVDs BAM roofs, etc.... Now all I am hearing..... We need a focus that gets 60 mpg and build 100,000 hybrids and suddenly more power isn't so important and now the media is screaming the Big 3 aren't making what Americans want and only build poor vehicles. People are brainwashed by gas prices and the media. They will stop by a convenience store and pay $1.50 more for a soda than go to the grocery store. Yet they will drive 10 miles to save 3 cents on a gallon of gas. Its stupid. Just like everything in this world, we are in a cycle. Granted, we don't know how long it will last, but it will change. Just my 2 cents :reading:
  21. It looks like the in car tempature sensor. Its possible that an extra one got dropped in the dash during assembly and instead of finding it they stuck another one in. If you dont have any A/C problems, then I would not worry. The original location of that sensor is located in the panel below the steering column. There is a spot on that panel that has slots for air to reach the sensor. Check with a flash light and see if something is behind those slots.
  22. I can also attest to the improvement in quality. The warranty work has dropped on newer models alot. I have only worked on one Edge for an A/C problem and about 6 fusions total. The vehicles are being better built. They are in the right direction. Just give it some time. BTW I have only had to replace approx 5 cruise deactivation switches due to leaking. Most of the were pre-1998 models
  23. It looks like a Mutt of cars. Coupe looks like Scion TC in the front. BMW 3-series in the mid section and a Tiburon on the rear. Sedan Looks like a freshened Sonata To me its cheaper looking. Looks like its Korean. I am sure the inside is nice and it will sell.
