HotCarl.......You could not have made this any clearer.....to those that are looking down the road to retirement. I know a retiree who retired with 50 years of seniority, and he receives the same amount of a 30 year retiree. Around 3200 a month. I totally agree with you on this, the lifetime benefit amount should be increased with every contract, even if its by pennies on the dollar. Its' better than being held at a standstill for the past 4-5 years. Its' really up to "us" workers to CYA, cover our butts and invest your money ourselves. Don't depend on the IUAW to look to increase the lifetime benefit amount, especially when they will be the ones receiving two UAW pensions.

Well said fmco76.....The ol' skool Retirees may have had their differences but dang it they stuck together commanding respect to the UAW! They made it perfectly clear the day a new hire (myself) walked onto the floor who the real enemy was / is, and what doors were opened for the rest of us.

By voting "yes" will make you "poor" ......the day that the powers that be "re-open" back up this contract while you were sleeping. ....and really put it to you, by lets say........"reverting" on every freaking thing that they originally said they would agree too? Your setting yourself up to really be in poverty, so that meesly "carrot" that they are sticking out to you is gonna be "put to you" (I'm keeping it clean as I can) down the road. My .02. MTP'er and TIER2...........This is the exact reason why I voted down the contract for two tier wages! Back biting, name calling, looking down on seniority, hatefulness toward other employees. I knew this crap was gonna happen. Tier2..... everybody that hired in on the floor as UAW employees started with 0 days of seniority. We all had to work our way up the pay scale as well as seniority scale. Hell, they called us 89 day wonders when we hired in. It's an insult to the seniority workers BEFORE you and myself who "opened" these doors to allow the rest of us an opportunity to work in the plant. But that was before the huge signing bonuses came on the scene. I'm not beating neither of you up based upon your views and how you fill, however we needed to un-leash these feelings to our IUAW elected officials, all with gratitude and a smile. This is just my .02
