Per the contract second tier workers can never constitute more that 20% of the membership. When the number goes above 20% a second tier worker is advanced to first tier by seniority. The situation you just described cannot occur. The entire agreement is available at UAW.org in a pdf format. Read it. This is the first time I can remember that the International Union has been this transparent with the agreement. Take advantage of it and educate yourselves. There are alot of misconceptions and misinformation on this board. On facebook look for the UAW Ford Department page. Actual vote counts and other info can be found there.

Nothing new was promised with this modification. The promised added volume is already being installed. Perhaps thats why this local wasn't too keen on the deal, membership saw nothing to gain locally with it.

Hey - Just for kicks I'll answer your original question anyway. I doubt you would hold days. About 60% of the plant is retirement eligible so.... afternoons. There are a few exceptions, but not many. I also don't believe any other folks would be asked to come to Livonia, we have a number of people in JSP and also laid off. The U.S does not provide Canada with military protection. I have had the honor of serving with members of the Canadian armed forces and they are every bit as capable and professional as our own troops. Canada has socialized medicine - just like EVERY OTHER industrialized nation in the world. This provides them an advantage over us - also enjoyed by EVERY OTHER industrialized nation in the world....
