It appears they continue to hamstring the new Ranger. You wouldn’t even know they had a new model. It’s like they want it to fail.

That is a nonsensical excuse. Anyone buying a luxury vehicle wants the latest and greatest. I really can’t understand why they didn’t put it in the vehicle when the work was done. I’m sorry, that is just BS by Lincoln/Ford, and a missed opportunity to offer a better vehicle that would put it in the best position to attract new customers.

I definitely think this is a problem. It does appear they tried to hold the line a bit on the 2025 Explorer, so that’s a good sign they might be recognizing the problem. I was surprised to see them drop prices on the lightning, so, my theory that once prices go up, they never come down maybe incorrect. It would be nice if we would see some price drops on the vehicles people are actually buying. I refuse to buy the bronco models that I was looking at now because they are substantially more than when they were first introduced and I really don’t find the value in it anymore. If it weren’t for all the equity I had built up in my previous raptors (they hold their value exceptionally well ) that I had bought when they were more affordable, I’m not sure I could afford to buy a new Raptor today straight up. Im fortunate to have a well-paying job, and can afford to buy some higher end vehicles, but the average truck prices, etc., are really getting out of hand for the median income buyers out there that may be buying these things for work and basic transportation. I find that to be really troublesome.

I don’t personally own the MME. I have two work vehicles, which are the MME and an edge. The MME is a test vehicle for my employer. At some point, I will turn it back in, but I haven’t heard when that will be. I really won’t be disappointed when that happens. It’s not worth the hassle to me based on a number of factors.

I watched an overview of the 25 ST by a YouTube dude, and his thoughts were virtually identical to mine. Ironically, at the end of the video, he had a pic of a current ST with the plastic trim painted. As I had mentioned I think this should be standard on the Platinum, and optional on the ST. I think it looks really clean, and more upscale.

Understood, but in our capacity, we use them on desktops with multiple screens, so that is a non factor in our. My organization is very deliberate when moving to a new version for necessary purposes. I don’t expect to see Windows 12 on my machines anytime soon. I’ll probably be retired before that happens. And I like what I like.

I used to work in IT before switching to my current job so I understand where you coming from. I personally don’t mind change, but like many, I don’t like change for change’s sake. We recently upgraded to Windows 11, and the start button moved to the center of the screen from the left side, more like an Apple product. That small change drummed up a lot of debate lol, but to me that is a change for change’s sake. If I wanted an Apple interface, I would buy an Apple. Fortunately for most, you could change it back to the traditional view, with Click, but if you are coming from the Apple ecosystem perhaps you would like that.

I drive the MME every week. I’m telling you it’s the range. It’s a very nice car otherwise and if it had a gas engine, they would be selling the crap out of it.

I understand your concerns and they’re valid. There is a serious amount of uncertainty in the BEV market. Is anyone asking if BEVs are the right solution to decrease emissions? I’m not pretending to suggest there is a better alternative yet, just wondering really. Ultimately these two Ford vehicles, which are nicely appointed attractive vehicles, are not selling due to perceived, or real range deficiencies, and perhaps some cost issues. . Unless there is some miraculous change in battery technology in the VERY near future, I don’t see how the situation improves.

I’ve been absorbing this refresh for a while now, and as a current ST owner, I just don’t know what to think. First Ford jacked up my new car purchase rotation by delaying this refresh over a year, but that’s another story. The interior updates are great, but much to my chagrin, and many others, they eliminated the physical buttons for basic functions. We used these controls enough that it’s annoying, and I just don’t like the feel of touchscreens for these functions. It’s not just set it and forget it in our car, even though it automated climate control. The rear of the Explorer is a major improvement. That was probably my least favorite thing about the prior model, as it was very bland looking. Now as for the front end, I personally loved the prior models arrangement, contrary to some on here, and I’m just not sure what to think of the new grill. I thought the outgoing grill blended nicely with the lines of the rest of the vehicle. This new grill looks blobby and I feel it doesn’t blend with the rest of the lines well based on the pics. I’ll have to reserve judgement until I see it in person. It is disappointing there were no powertrain changes but not surprising really. I just don’t know why they don’t add 15 to 20 hp on these refreshes, when it is pretty easy for them to do, so they can use it as a marketing tool. I was really hoping for MagneRide suspension on the ST, at least as an option. I think that would have been an excellent upgrade to the ST. I despise the the wheels on the ST. They look like something you would find on an XLT, instead of a performance vehicle. On top of it, I did the build and price on the ST and it is only showing Magnatite-Painted Aluminum Wheels, whereas the literature shows black. This must be an oversight as they certainly will need black for this model. With these ugly wheels, they need to have a wheel option with a style more consistent with the current model. I like the painted roof option but it’s pricey. I also think the molding on the platinum model needs to be painted body color to be consistent with a more upscale vehicle. Ultimately, I really need to see this vehicle in person to get a better idea how I feel about it.

I’d be very surprised if there is an increase in the dimensions. It’s my understanding they are using the same structure. Hopefully we will know more details soon.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this 2023 Edge SEL AWD I was recently assigned. Prior to receiving it I was disappointed about it because the other Edges we have had really felt spartan inside, mostly because of the very generic looking center stack. They apparently dropped that design (thankfully) and replaced it with 12” screen, which is a significant upgrade IMO, giving it a more modern feel inside. Now granted the car hasn’t been updated in a while, but I think the interior materials are good, fit and finish has been good, and doesn’t seem completely decontented, although I don’t have proper perspective to know how true that last statement is. My only major complaint right now is the front edge of the drivers seat is too high, causing it to put unwanted pressure on the back of my thighs. I have not been enjoying that on my longer trips. I thought the SEL was supposed to have an 8 way seat, but this feels like 6. I was wondering if this was because it is a fleet model but I haven’t confirmed yet. It’s really a shame they did not update this model. All it needed was new sheet metal and an updated interior. It could have soldiered on with this frame and a few powertrain updates.

As someone who who is using both at edge and an MME, I will agree that the Evos is likely not a direct replacement. The edge definitely has a more upright stance to it and a higher seating position, but I do think it would pick up a few edge buyers. As you previously stated, I think a C2 edge would likely be the most effective replacement for that vehicle. They have the Chinese edge that they could use, however, I believe that would need some aesthetic tweaks to be successful here.

I guess my statement had more to do with not specifically building products that people wanted. It’s pretty clear they misjudged the transition to BEV, and now have a questionable product mix, IMO. I don’t personally see how they will be able to support four BEVs for the foreseeable future at that plant. It seems they will have a lot of excess capacity now for something that isn’t in demand. I can tell you right now that real world of battery usage for the MME in normal operation is not consistent with stated ranges, and people have been learning that. During the last cold snap, the MME couldn’t handle what I would consider to be a pretty common drive in my area, which would have resulted in me having to stop to charge on the way home. So instead, I had to use my Edge that day for that commute. It’s primarily the cold weather range that just sucks. ultimately, I would hate to be a manufacturer trying to navigate this transition. The target will be constantly moving.

Been asking the same question for a while. Ford really doesn’t have that many products to sell and this would be a very complimentary. Makes no senses. I agree with you and I think it would sell here. I don’t think it’s too late for it if they really wanted to.

Like I said, seems like poor planning by Ford to have such a long downtime, and likely replacing existing products with products that have lower demand. Just seems like an unforced error, and it sucks that you will lose 30% of your pay.

To me it doesn’t matter if they are EVs or not, but a couple of additional models to sell would be helpful. Yep, poor product planning as far as I’m concerned. Now that production will be ending, what happens to you all of you workers? Do you go on unemployment? Does the union supplement the loss of income associated with unemployment, or does Ford? How does this work?

The problem with Mitsubishi’s design is its handle bar mustache look with lights all over the place. IMO it’s horrible design work, and again, why can’t Mitsubishi just go away.

I know, I was being facetious.

We are going to find out in pretty short order. They have me a little worried though.
