I actually worked at a Ford Dealership in Dallas doing this over the Summer, before I decided to go to grad school... I had a base salary and would get bonuses based off of SYNC Activations and Customer Survey Responses.

Going out on a limb here but I want to say it started when they received so many complaints on the 2nd gen Expedition about all the break dust it produced. The Expedition had amazing brakes that would stop the monster like it was no problem, thing is, it also produced massive amounts of brake dust and people weren't to happy with it.

Doesn't the Explorer or Expedition use the Control Blade set up?

Click Check out picture number 27 and 28. You can see this circle next to the "Check Engine" and "Theft". Is that what your talking about? I couldn't tell since there's no mention of it in the owners manual.
