  1. Just wait Toyota will show double digit increases. The Sable might end up doing much better then the Montego did. I noticed if you add Montego and Sable together it becomes Mercury's best selling car model. It would be nice to see it getting to around 3,000 a month. It might make the difference if Mercury stays or goes.
  2. Hell i think a Pepsi can might even do better...
  3. Somehow I do believe that a '78 Fairmont would do much better in these tests then the new Chinese cars did.
  4. I think the Taurus X will sell better then the Freestyle did so I expect Ford will win the CUV war at least for this year.
  5. On my way out of Iraq in the spring of 2005 I spent a month in Kuwait getting things ready for the unit to move south again and I noticed Panthers everywhere. The Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria are extremely popular in Kuwait and I assume the same is true in other parts of the Middle East.
  6. Maybe they should call it the "Casket" instead of the "Amulet" You would be much better off buying a used Taurus then a new Amulet if you wanted to be safe. Here is another video of the Brilliance and it does appear to be a brilliant car! Too bad I can't understand a word they are saying because I would have loved to hear what the importer had to say about the car. Maybe someone here will understand it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vC-JPdVTCo...ted&search=
  7. Sorry about that...oh well it probably doesn't hurt people to see it again...especially the ones that keep saying...watch out for the Chinese in a year or two.
  8. Very impressive crash test showing on the new Chinese sedan, the Brilliance BS6, which is the first sedan to go on sale in Europe. Click the link...I think you will agree that this car is right up with the new Taurus in terms of safety. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :hysterical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F06LjugtIUo...ted&search= I hope you enjoyed that safety presentation.
  9. When they start selling those Chinese cars at Wal-Mart the Ford brand will become a premium car brand. What would u rather strap your loved ones into... a 2008 Taurus or a new Chinese Brilliance BS6? The BS6 is now on sale in Europe. Will it comes to the US? Who knows. Brilliance BS6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F06LjugtIUo...ted&search= Ford Five-Hundred (couldn't find a video of the new Taurus crash, but I assume structure is similar.
  10. Still you have to admit the Crown Vic is the most used car in movies...well anything that has to do with police, detectives, etc.
  11. Getting a little testy today...huh? It's ok, I am sure there will be some negative news about Ford again in the future to brighten your day. Mullaly is being cautious. Everyone (especially you) thought there would be another huge loss this quarter. Guess what...all wrong...so how you can predict the future and no one else can is beyond me.
  12. This news must have just destroyed pcsario's day. He was waiting for a huge loss to be posted so he could jump up and down with excitement. Anyhow this does not mean they can stop now. I think Alan totally understands that and he will save this company. The smartest decision Bill Ford ever made was to hire him. I never understood why there are people so negative about Ford Motor Company and why they want to see this company fail. It is one of the very few original icons of the American industrial age. I know some people have had bad luck with the products or whatever, but why all the hatred? Anyhow here is Alan's interview on msnbc http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19970567/
  13. Personally I'd rather have Ford make their 5/60 a bumper to bumper warranty then have this lifetime powertrain warranty. That is just my opinion anyhow.
  14. There is a lot of truth to what you are saying. Ford DOES NOT need to own 100% of these companies to be able to leverage their strengths. Mazda is a great example of this. I predict that Ford will continue to use platforms and technology (especially Volvo) even if these companies are sold by retaining part ownership. I am one that would like to see Ford keep full control over Volvo, however if the cash made in a sale will help pay down debt and improve Ford's chances of a successful recovery then I am all for it, provided they can continue to use Volvo technology. I drive a vehicle with Volvo technology in it, it's called AdvanceTrac with RSC and yes it does work...it works extremely well.
  15. Richard I could not agree more. That little FJ Cruiser is really a pig considering how small it is. I think Ford needs to be given credit on how well the new Taurus/Sable are rated for fuel economy. They are large roomy powerful cars and still get excellent fuel economy. Ford needs to brag that fact up with high fuel prices. Not every family can fit in a Yaris!
  16. I really hope you are just saying that and not actually driving 100 MPH (unless you are saying km/h, just noticed you are from Canada) on a gravel road, because that would be very unsafe in any vehicle. I grew up in an area with a lot of gravel roads and they have caused countless rollovers when people drive too fast and loose control.
  17. :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
  18. You know everyone likes to bash the CD3's because they are built in Mexico, but they do seem to have some of the best fit and finish in the Ford line-up. Is it just a better plant or do the workers take more pride in their product or is it just the engineering of the product itself? I am not sure, but they do seem well built.
  19. I am not a business man, nor do I know the inside financials at the current minute of either company, but if I was going to make a bet...i'd say Chrysler is loosing their ass right now without Daimler propping them up. They were loosing bad before now and nothing has changed except an increase in fleet sales. Most of their profitable truck and SUV lines are in a sales freefall. When they get spun off Cerberus will have to throw millions at Chrysler to keep them going. Make no mistake Chrysler as an independent company is MUCH worse off then Ford. They are just lucky because they have and will continue to be tied to a company with deep pockets. Ford is Ford. They don't have that luxury.
  20. It's not like Bush's daughters are much better...lol those little donut holes on the Prius must really be smoking at 100MPH!
