  1. I think history will repeat itself when Fisker goes bankrupt and some one else will buy up the ashes of the company. This is what happened to the Karma. Maybe it will be Nissan, but if not, a Chinese automaker will buy it.

I'd like to see Fisker rebadged as Datsun...

How big are they? The R3 reminds me of the Edges greenhouse

It reminds me of the Plymouth Horizon/Dodge Omni/Peugoet 402 and a little of the VW Rabbit and AMC Gremlin. But unlike all those other cars, I really like this!

Bronco Sales are starting to dry up, guess the gotta have its got it and with high interest rates and prices going up, demand is starting to fall. I see plenty of stock on the lots these days.

As much as I hate to say it, I always thought Bronco was going to be a fad car like the two seat T-bird, PT Cruiser, the new Camaro and Toyota FJ Cruiser. Once the first wave of fans buy it, it doesn't sustain momentum.

In the grand scheme of things when do things actually get cheaper? Only if you downsize or order less options. But there are so many variables with that too.

Lets put this way, I had this really cool indicator thing on my 1986 Escort GT

junkyard find 1988 ford escort gt

Never had a car again with it...did I miss it? Nope. Some of the stuff moved to the dashboard, but never had a brake/Tail light or Headlight out indicator ever again.

I actually liked that thing on my EXP! It had the light test button to make sure the warning lights worked. They were probably worried that the light test button wouldn't work and need to have a test for that as well.

The most bizarre thing was the fuel filler door release was in the glove box, so you had to lean across the car to open it. A button behind a door to release another door.

  5. I really liked the Airflow and I hate the Halcyon. The Airflow looked like it could easily be sold in Europe as a Peugeot or Opel model. The airflow's Chrysler almost logo looks like a batman logo in that picture too, even though the Halcyon looks like a Batmobile after a serious accident.

Removing and storing third rows is a PITA.

Needing to transport passengers and not having the ability to do it is even more of a pain. I'm sure someone is up to the task of making easy to remove seats and use them as chairs in the house. It's not like you'd be adding and subtracting chairs on a daily basis anyway. Mazda could have even done an option delete to remove the chairs which would allow you to buy the rear seats later as well if needed as an after market option.

I just think it is just dumb to market the same car as a different model because of not having seats.

  7. I would make a third row seat, that could be removed from the car, and could have clip on legs put on them so they could be used as extra house chairs until you need them in the car again.

Kia launches mod-and-modular PBV platform with 5 EV concepts at CES 2024 - Autoblog

Kia just made its big CES reveal, and it’s called the Platform Beyond Vehicle, or PBV for short. The “PBV” isn’t just one vehicle, though. In total, there are five PBVs that were just revealed at CES – three versions of the Concept PV5, the Concept PV7 and the Concept PV1. All of them are electric.

That’s a whole lot of cars, and they all have their purposes. The idea behind the line of PBV vehicles is to create a modular fleet of vehicles that can be modified to suit certain needs in quick order.

    ....

This whole project is a little more serious than many ideas you may see at CES, too, as plans for a PBV-dedicated assembly plant are already underway. To be built in Autoland Hwaseong, the factory is expected to be online in 2025 and produce up to 150,000 vehicles per year. A business and tracking system is scheduled to be launched alongside the PV vehicles that will allow for easier fleet management and monitoring of the vehicles someone might have in their fleet. It’s unclear if these vehicles will ever go on sale in the U.S. at this point, but we’ll be on the lookout for any news over the next couple years.

    Kia PBV Concept Lineup

Ummmm... They're interesting. But it may be too much like that start up company Cannoo van thing. But unlike Cannoo, Kia is a funded and established automaker, so that's why it has a better chance of working.

Do they just keep a warehouse of random old "new" cars?  I have no idea how they keep finding new Darts, 200s, Caravans, Town & Countries, and Patriots many many years after they've stopped production.

And 3 out of the 4 Fiats are discontinued and they're still selling them.

The US Automakers have too many dealerships anyways....so I'm thinking they are glad this is happening.

On the flip side, the surviving dealerships will be the "big conglomerate dealers" (the guys that own dozens of dealerships spanning multiple brands), and with less competition, the mark up games and shady crap will continue to get worse.

They sold 40k Camry hybrids last year.  I’m sure most people chose the NA 2.5 since it was the cheapest option.  I’m sure they’ll sell just as many hybrids if that’s the cheapest version.

I think it is a good strategy. They don't have a great EV effort, but they are the kings of hybrids. It should up their green image while keeping buyers who aren't ready for full on EV cars happy.

But how long ago was that? The Capri hasn't been sold in almost 40 years.

Its like people bitching about the Maverick being called the Maverick because it was some shit box cheap sedan from then 1970s.

The Mustang Mach E is just a bunch of crybabies bitching about the name and it being an EV, when its just an extension of the Mustang family.

I think the Mustang Mach E is a perfectly fine name for that car. Its name implies that it is inspired by the Mustang and has Mustang like styling cues in it. The point I was making with the Capri is that it isn't in the same market segment AND it appears not to have any influence from the original Capri. It almost looks inspired by the 80's Euro Escort which I thought would resonate better with buyers as the Escort was more recent. Of course the new Capri is under heavy camo , so it could very well be heavily Capri influenced and surprise everyone as well. After all, the prototype is camouflaged to deceive everyone before it is revealed.

A ton of Ford's ideas these last few years are these ideas that sound great on paper, and just fall apart with the execution. It's relatively well known that Europe tends to prefer more daring designs. So I agree with you, the decision to give Europe the chunky, Americanized designs, and America the funky and artistic designs sounds like someone got some wires crossed.

As for names, again, I just don't get it. Why Ford keeps putting sport car names on SUVs blows my mind. It would still piss a lot of people off, but Galaxie sounds like a perfect name to put on a new performance EV. It sounds futuristic, it's not going to upset as many people as calling a crossover a mustang. But they keep picking these names that your average consumer won't really remember, like Capri, but that will piss off the hardcore enthusiasts, who are the only people who really know what a Capri is.

Sad to hear this new designer is kinda dropping the ball, I assume that means you've seen other upcoming designs beyond the three rows, and aren't very impressed with what he's producing.

I've posted this many times here, but I thing GalaxiE spelled this way with the "E" is a missed opportunity.
