  1. ...And the mark up eliminates any savings you may have from the fuel economy increase, so now you might as well not get one and keep your old car.
  2. Acura has been doing this except gas powers the front and batteries power the rear. I believe Ferrari also has (on the FF) en electric powered front and on that there is no reverse gear in the transmission as reverse is powered by the electric front wheels only.
  3. I think most consumers don't realize Buick still exists.
  4. Chevy should have used the name for the Suv version of the BEV pickup.
  5. If Ford does choose to bring back an EV sedan Continental, this would be a good starting point to update...
  6. Having had both careers, I can say to a point this is true. The margin on a TV is getting less every year, but the money comes from the installations which the average person can't do, and the accessories which optimize the capabilities of the TV are the true profit centers of the sale and add tremendous value to the customer. Yeah, some try to do it themselves, but you'll like your purchase much better when the company installs it and you get the right accessories to make it work. I sold cars in the 90's and the commission on the cars were, $50 on a Festiva, 150 on Escort up to 2000 on a loaded F series. It was totally wort it to sell trucks, Taurus, and Mustang. You made a lot more on used cars. Another thing with a used car is that they don't just give you 2000 for a trade and turn around and sell it for 10,000. They are most likely to auction it, and if they do keep it on the lot, they spend a couple of thousand to fix the little problems that you've been neglecting the past few years. Sometimes you are your own worst enemy. They inspection reveals most of the damage you did to your car and the dealer isn't going to give you a better price for a crappy car.
  7. I work in an company that retails these things. The manufacturers claim they last 5-7 years. Let's just say, it varies on the brand you buy and it is one of those things that a service plan is a wise thing. Some brands will get you there and others... let's just say you're really rolling the dice when you choose them. Modern televisions do not inspire confidence.
  8. Well, people were convinced that the $1,000 flatscreen TV that lasts 2 years is better than the picture tube TV that never dies, so the drive to be modern sometimes outweighs the drive to be practical.
  9. It looks better in darker colors. There isn't many ways to design a box to make it stand out, so they are adding creases just for the sake of it, hoping they look different than the creases that Hyundai to Nissan might add. Although i don't hate it, I have no emotional attachment to it whatsoever. I guess the only good thing is that you can see a family resemblance to the RAV4, but that's it. At least the RAV4 wears that style much better.
  10. Beautiful Bronco! also, I like that 1930's car in the background too!
  11. The sharp edges don't bother me too much. I just am getting sick of the trend of putting creases for no logical reason. Toyota and Hyundai do this the most.
  12. Over Msrp: Hyundai/Kia must be happy! I am surprised that Camaro and Spark are on there as no one buys them. But then again, they probably may have cut production so much that they're hard to find. The only Japanese model is the Mazda. Under or discounted: This list surprises me as the hot selling models are here except for Alfa and Infiniti. I'm guessing that the manufacturers of the hot models went all in and placed all the production resources on them, so they are more plentiful. The Ford, GM, Jeep and BMW are also made in the USA and the local sourcing probably makes them much easier to find too. I expected Fiat here too as the sales are so poor and the "days on lot" are so high too. Even if they sell them at 50% off, they still wouldn't see much of a sales increase at this point.
  13. You're right. I don't recall Ford saying they were going to be 100 per cent BEV like GM, but a high percentage of products will by 2040.
  14. I don't think the Mustang II was all that bad. Not good, but not bad. I feel that because it was slow and Pinto based, it badly colors people's perception. If the Mustang II had real performance, it would change the math a bit. Of course the Landau roof is terrible too. I think the "Diamonds are Forever" 71-73 was the ugly duckling of the Mustang linage. It looked like they were trying to grow it into a personal coupe like the Thunderbird because the T-bird grew into a large car.
  15. Or the cost/benefit favors the EV in the future. We've seen Ford be willing to let go of market segments (sedans and minivans), to favor more profitable ones. They are willing to take less overall sales if they make more profit on the ones that are left.
  16. I was thinking out loud rather than asking. I wouldn't want you to hurt your job. I apologize if I put you on the spot. I am just hoping that Ford made a decision on the plant that would be a benefit to the employees by committing the Mustang and maybe other products now that their stock is going up.
  17. I was more or less thinking of a modern day version of this:
  18. Some sort of decision on the Flat Rock plant?...
  19. I think the trunk looks a little longer. I wonder if they are going to go to a little more notchback look rather than fastback.
  20. Elon Musk did say Tesla had an alternate, more truck like design if Cybertruck fell flat. I think we may be seeing that one soon now that Ford and GM showed their cards in this game.
  21. I believe I read somewhere on this forum that they stopped building the Mustang for a while to use the chips for higher priority products.
  22. Even Toyota said this is a special circumstance, that they believe won't be permanent.
  23. Also, the first fossils were incomplete and the velociraptor was believed to be a bird, or at least be a reptile capable of flight originally.
  24. Here is a You tube video on this subject. Disclosure: I did sell Ford cars for a short time in the 90's, so I do see the pros and cons of dealerships, but here is an argument brought on by the markups of Mach E, Bronco and now the Lightning: The dealership in question is Rodman Ford in Massachusetts.
