  1. It did the same thing to me on my 2017 only it was the chrome package. For whatever reason Ford will not allow you to order the chrome package with power boards and still hasn't changed that. My thought was I could just add the boards through the Ford accessory department but I don't believe this ever happened. Instead you have to order the amp research, but they have to plug into your OBD port and are not controlled through the dash like factory boards. Plus once you have the truck its just hard to cough up the $2000. I'm not sure what all is included in the black out package, but overall I wish I had gone with the power boards then I could have just added the chrome mirror caps. Next time I'm going with a Platinum that will have the chrome pieces and power boards.
  2. I'd check with Western Hauler and 2L Truck Conversions. Classy Chassis can do it also I think. I believe they all are set up with Ford as a ship thru converter which means the truck will be delivered from Ford directly to them. Personally I would insist they cut down the frame and use a factory bed with out any spacers. Just looks cleaner in my opinion. edit - if your in LA check western hauler or 2l, there both in Texas.
  3. Love mine and no problems, but I only have 6800 miles and no towing yet. Fuel economy is not all its hyped up to be, at least on the 450's with city driving. Of course I didn't own an 08-10 model so don't have exact point of comparison, but I was hoping for better then my 2004 350, but get about the same.
  4. First thing that comes to mind in the older trucks was that it is a 40 amp circuit. I'm guessing its still the same in the 2011. Sorry not an exact answer.
  5. I haven't towed yet so can't comment there. But my 450 with the 4.30 axle ratio gets around 10.8-11 mpg city and up to 15.6 mpg highway (60-65ish). Given my gears I suspect economy will go down again if I do any stretch of driving over 70 mph. I do have a pretty heavy foot around town which Ive been told also has a great effect. I did learn if you that if you do a lot of around town driving you need to reset your computer (at least one of the trip meters) to get an accurate update if you want to check your highway mpg.
  6. I'm not sure if they are the same or not, but if your going to the work to replace them I'd probably do aftermarket, especially the subwoofer. The new systems are definitely better then they used to be, but doesn't compare to my 04 with all diamond audio amps and subs. I don't want to completely hack into my brand new wiring harnesses (to put in aftermarket amps), so I'm probably going to keep the factory highs for now but replace my sub with an aftermarket set up.
  7. Autotrader.com is another good place too - I believe Ford dealers list most their inventory with them and they are the ones who updates a lot of the dealers sites inventory pages. Usually pics will show up on autotraders website first and then shortly after same pics will be on the actual dealer site. You can also view the vin # and use that to look up the exact window sticker. Search hint - if your looking for a dually type "drw" into the search terms section.
  8. The also quoted fuel economy but with these 4.30 gears I don't believe for a moment a dana 110 with 19.5s will get any worse the the 11 mpg I'm getting out of this 2011. Although its a toss up at whether I'm more upset at that or these new bulging fenders - 2012 needs to address both these issues.
  9. The prep package from the factory basically does just that - it preps your truck for a fifth wheel AND/OR a gooseneck hitch. Both have to be ordered separate from the prep package. You don't need that leg kit for the gooseneck set up (thats just to adapt older Reese fifth wheels you might already own) , just the kit from Ford for about $300.00 which comes with the 2 5/16" ball for the center and tie down hooks that go into 2 of the 4 outer holes.
  10. Wow thats a lot of great info. They booklet Ford gave you was basically nothing.
  11. Found this on Ford's updated order guide: The prep package is also compatible with Reese® Elite Series and Signature Series hitch kits updated with a new Leg Service Kit (Part #BC3Z-A00A25-A). Hopefully thats the part your looking for!
  12. Actually I think it means its not available at all on the Lariats and KR. I think its meant to be more of a fleet option on work trucks.
  13. When you buy the hitch itself it will come with a booklet, although its not the clearest description. I haven't bought my fifthwheel (trailer) yet, but when I do I plan on having the dealer double check it and go over it with me. Since its basically a reese elite I'm thinking most rv dealers should be familiar with it. Overall I'm a huge fan of the gooseneck setup, so much simpler!
  14. My guess would be a 250 is a little cheaper then a 350 (even though probably costs about the same to make) and with a 3.31 axle might get a bit better fuel economy, so my guess there just are some people that even those smallest differences is enough to make them feel there getting a better deal on a 250???
  15. I noticed it did seem like the heat was on the other day. I think basically the controls (dash) don't light up when the key is not in the ignition even though the remote start and heater is running.
