Ford F-150 Lightning Causes Havoc at Car Wash
CurtisH replied to ice-capades's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Even if the driver hit the resume button, it shouldn’t have done anything. The Lightning has adaptive cruise and there was a vehicle in front of it. -
If they had offered a non-removable top on the Bronco, my brother would have chosen that option. He will never remove the top.

2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Prices Increase Across The Board

That same thought crossed my mind. -
Rivian’s truck is really more of a midsize truck, so they wouldn’t have the market completely to themselves.

Ford Discusses New Affordable EV Platform
CurtisH replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
We usually drive my wife’s Corsair. I put 370-390 miles on a tank of gas. That means I fill up about twice a month, which is a minor inconvenience. When I am by myself, I take my Mustang. I put 290-310 miles on a tank, so I fill it up twice a month. However, I can take either car on a trip and not worry about where to refuel or how long it will take. That convenience is worth the quick trips to the gas station for our routine driving. Final note: I like EV’s. The adoptions required are more than I want to make right now. Our next car purchase is probably another 6-8 years away. I suspect it will be an EV. They should have resolved my concerns by then. -
Ford Discusses New Affordable EV Platform
CurtisH replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Why would I want to pay more for a vehicle that I have to adapt to? Charging time and initial cost will eventually be resolved. Until then, I (and a lot of other people) aren’t interested in a BEV. -
2024 Ford Edge Production Will End In Late April
CurtisH replied to silvrsvt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I agree that the Edge has always been positioned as a more premium product than the Escape. We had a 2011 Edge. My wife drove a new Edge before we bought the Corsair. She thought the new Edge was too much like our 13 year old Edge and immediately dropped it from consideration. It really didn’t feel as premium as it used to. -
Agreed. We’ve only had our Corsair for 4 months but I really like the positioning of the screen and overall design. It’s layout is very similar to the layout in the new Explorer.
-
My wife loves everything about the Corsair. She wouldn’t even look at the Escape. Most people would never guess they were on the same platform. Ford does a really good job of differentiating the Lincolns from the Fords now.
-
Agreed. We bought a new Corsair in October and really like it. There is a noticeable difference between the Escape and the Corsair.

GM follows Ford in ditching 9 speed transmission
CurtisH replied to silvrsvt's topic in Competing Products
I also have both the 8F35 and 10R80. I did have to have the 10R80 in my Mustang reflashed at around 42,000 miles due to harsh shifting. It’s been fine since then. I have a little over 79,000 miles on it now. -

We’ve got it in the Corsair. Only have about 2,200 miles on it, but it’s been good so far. -
GM Considering bringing back Hybrids for NA
CurtisH replied to mackinaw's topic in Competing Products
I realize the e-CVT is a different animal than regular CVT’s. I just prefer gears. For this reason, I would absolutely consider a hybrid Ranger. Back on topic: I think it would be smart for GM to roll out some hybrid models. -
GM Considering bringing back Hybrids for NA
CurtisH replied to mackinaw's topic in Competing Products
I didn’t realize the hybrid cost more now. That would work better for me. The 2.0 Ecoboost is faster than the hybrid and doesn’t use a CVT. Based on reviews, the hybrid is a bit slower than I would like and I’ve never cared for the sound/feel of a CVT. Disclaimer: We probably won’t buy another new vehicle for about 6-7 years. My preferences and options may be noticeable different by then. -
Ford CEO: Vertical Integration Will Increase with Move to EVs
CurtisH replied to silvrsvt's topic in E.V. Central
To be fair, our 2011 Edge averaged a little under 22 mpg over the life of the vehicle. If we had purchased a hybrid Camry, it would have reduced CO2 by about as much as Rick73 said.
