  1. Supposedly the XT6 is a "full size" unibody CUV?
  2. I still don't like them, lol
  3. IMO, the EcoSport is a huge flop. I never see any of them, even near O'Hare rental facilities. But, all over Chicago ex-ways, tons of Chevy Traxes, Buick Encores, and Honda HR-V's. Ford dealer didn't have one in showroom and encouraged Escape, when sister was thinking of considering new small UV. Glad she didn't buy that nerd-mobile! Ford should have a new EcoSport coming sooner, than later. And dump that goofy name! But seems like it's all "coming soon! Magic products!". When, what, and how much?

    Next-gen Chevy Trax Spied

So looks like future Utilities will get more car like, with smaller windows and lower roofs. Will there then be a backlash to a 'white space' segment?
  5. True about the Ranger coming back, but its somewhat larger then before. But, it is short term thinking to just "cut and run." Maybe they really are awaiting VW Group to buy them out?
  6. Make more "suicide door" Continentals, and bring in more money.
  7. "I could see them bringing back a C2 based Focus hatch or Fusion to fill out capacity. " I'd like to see that, but I don't think it will happen. When Millennials get more buying power will they demand new cars again? Compared to Gen X and Boomers who are gobbling up UV's and pick-ups.

    2020 Escape Production Information

Interested in seeing when they go on sale, and what features, specs and trims will be.
  9. GM fan boys expect their company to still have lots of brands and be all over the globe, just for pride. They screamed when Opel was sold, thinking "just give it more time". Really? GM needs to make $$ not just build badge jobs to please fan boiys.
  10. "Test drives are over rated" ??? Wait until Millennials hit middle ages, and they actually start aging. [They will learn the hard way that they are not immortal] When their backs and a$$es are not "pliable" and young anymore, then they'll will want to make sure the car seat fits right. They will scream to high heaven when that happens, if not already. I heard a story about how furniture companies are doing OK with "old fashioned stores", since buyers actually want to see the products in person and try then out. So, no not everything can be "drop shipped" and all if fine.

7 months of corvettes sitting on lots

Corvette should be a separate GM division/brand, it virtually is anyway. Another issue with Vette is its image with younger car fans, who jokingly call it "mid life crisis car", and don't "dream of someday getting one".

    FCA opening new assembly plant?

"FCA" term has caught on, but if they stop importing Fiats, and drop Chrysler vehicles, will be odd to still be call "Fiat Chrysler Automobiles". It could then mean "Former Chrysler Association". Maybe just call the whole thing "Jeep LLC" or "Jeep-Ram Trucks", since the word 'truck' means 'big profits' these days.

    FCA opening new assembly plant?

My complaint is Belvidere plant is shedding workers, but they can move to MI plants. Will it get cut long term? Good news for MI, but not for IL, :-( BTW: "Chrysler Charger"? Don't think so.
  14. Looks like a Focus after all.
  15. To average people, some think the Taurus was dropped ages ago. When the 2007 was dropped, it made SNL "Weekend Update" joke as "car for those who gave up on their dreams". I disagree, but to those in Coastal regions, used to imports, they couldn't care less. Ford gave up on it after Mullaly left the co.
  16. Uber/Lyft drivers prefer mid size/compact sedans, to save fuel costs and to navigate city traffic. If future is more ride sharing, then we will still see some cars for sale. [Just my opinion, no need to get all angst and post "just ignore..."] Funny how "car guys" on the internet are now saying "pull out of all sedan segments." after whining about losing "fun to drive cars". Just jumping on the bandwagon. If so, then buyers will demand lower priced discounted CUV's, and then another "race to the bottom". Will sub-compact Utes then get cut because "can't make money on them"? [Just my opinion, no need to get all angst ]

    Chicago Auto Show

Can't say "nobody" since there were quite a lot of people there, just not at Ford display or Caddy cars.

This car is trying my patience

Mine wasn't worst car, but most disappointing being a "modern car". When running well, enjoyed it, and never died at least. But, sure wished never had the DCT in it. Had more unreliable back in the "good old days" of carburetors.

    2020MY Production Schedule

Thanks for all the info you provide "Ice"!
  20. I was making fun of fan boys [Biker** or TTAC], not you or most on BON, expecting a "savior" to bring Ford's cars back from the dead. Anyway, it is interesting to see all the speculation some thinking a VW unibody pickup for Ford in trade for VW EV's. If they can work things out, then Ford would specialize in trucks and VW would be "people movers" and share platforms. Even in EU, wagons/hatches are slipping in favor of CUV's, much to chagrin of "car guys" thinking gas taxes should go up to "force" drivers into manual trans station wagons.

    Chicago Auto Show

I was there yesterday and the Ford display was dead compared to years past, and other makes like Chevy and Toyota. Rangers were ignored, after all the hype. Lots of 'on the way out' products, like Explorer, Escape, Fiesta, and Fusion, just sitting. 2020 Explorer off in a corner, locked, and no sign promoting it. The Aviator and Nautilus at least had a small crowd around it, and people wanted to sit in the "suicide door" Continental, but was roped off. Just my observation, but the new Chevy Blazer turntable had more eyeballs and the one on the floor had people waiting to sit in it. Sure, it's not BOF, but average UV buyers don't care, well known names sometime bring in bodies. Cadillac's cars were ignored in favor of the 'Slade and XT's.
  22. Regarding CAFE and "green-ness", large capacity/class trucks are exempt. Which is why the biggies got V-10's all these years.

This car is trying my patience

Sister had her 2003 Focus since new, and traded in on Escape. Never had issues with the "old fashioned" 4 speed auto. Kept hearing "The DCT's are fixed now", and got a 2014. was ok, until 2016, and then had fixed 3 times under warranty and once out of it. Was acting up again last summer, and I came into $$ and dumped it. Got shit resale. Buit not worried about it anymore. Miss the handling, but not the crap. I didn't want a truck or Ute, and call me old fashioned. But at same time, got used car, enough of paying for depreciation.
  24. Will be interesting to see if "kits" appear to "drop in" this new engine in vintage cars/trucks.
  25. There's "fan bois" online who saw the VW-Ford story and posted "Yay, they will make new Focus ST off the GTI!" The Truth About Cars, for example.
