The days of hoping, praying and wishing for a Ford "Camry/Accord killer" are over. Those who still want a true car, get imports, due to better and resale. DCT repairs and relying on "fleet sales" killed Ford car resale values forever. With all the SUV recalls, looks like they may lose that market, too.

By the time it appears, it will be 2059. Given how long it took for a full sized Jeep SUV to come out. ?
Allpar fans are still whining about the Dart/200. They still claim "a full line up" of Dodges and Chrysler cars are coming from [now] Peugeot, after years of expecting new Dodges from Alfa-Romeo. Expecting "coupes, sedans, convertibles and wagons!" If they took an old Yugo, and put a Dodge badge on it, they'd be happy, at this point.

Ford lost a lot of good will with car buyers, with DCT Focus, and Fusion suffered. But also, suburbanites said "cars are out of style and too small". Can't sell a "tiny car" [even if a mid size] to a Mom/Dad who have tons of "stuff" to haul for the kids.

to those complaining still about "why can't Ford still sell Fusion sedans"? Well, just go to another brand. Can still get a Malibu, for now.
Or, get a Maverick, with a bed cover, and "voila!" a sedan!

Hardly anyone under 40 remembers the 1970-77 Maverick, so will be no association with 1970's cars. To Millennials, the 70's may as well be the 1930's, far far in the past.

Agree, Chrysler hasn't been a "premium brand" since the K-car days. I bet name will be gone by 2028.
Opel/Vauxhall are now just badges on French cars, nothing GM anymore. Don't expect "the return of Opel to US", ever.
And 'FCA' is defunct. Funny how Chrysler/Mopar/Dodge fanbois love using the term, but then complain about Fiat.

Oh, and how long will Mopar car guys keep using "FCA" term (since merger is done)?
They complain about Fiat products, but gleefully say "FCA" as if the 'F' means "fun". LOL

Over at Allpar, they're still expecting "a new car line up from PSA", to replace Dart, 200, etc. And, some claim "Opels will be sold as Dodges". Umm, it's been 6 years since Sergio killed off Dart/200. They are not coming back.
Any new Dodge/Chrysler will be a CUV, no "new Intrepid/Concorde/Stratus/LeBaron" cars.

Ford killed the Focus name in US, with poor DCT quality, thus it is same as Pinto in buyers minds. So, dream on for any 'return of Focus ST/RS' or imports from Spain.
But, what about that new Fusion wagon "Outback competitor"?

If they do, it will be a 4 door CUV. Since that is what sells to new car buyers. Example; Mustang Mach E.

Then, what would 'F' in FCA mean? FCA is used over and over to mean Mopar and will most likely stick around, like DSM for Mitsubishi cars.

Eventually, CUV's will be like wagons, but the auto 'fashionistas' will not notice.

It's funny how Mopar fans on their fandom forums go on and on about how junky Fiat products are, and how Chrysler "should be American" again. But, in endless internet posts, say "FCA this", "FCA that", and still will after this merger. Don't they know what the 'F' in FCA means? LOL It's not "Fabulous Chrysler Association".
Also, don't expect a new "full line up" of Dodge and Chrysler cars again from Peugeot as the dreamers think are "coming soon".

Good luck, I ended up trading in and glad I did. Word is out about the transmissions, and buyers are avoiding these cars.

It will be interesting to see if uni-body pickup sells to Millennials or ends up like Scion xD's and Honda Element, favorite for elder drivers.

Peugeot is taking over Fiat-Mopar, so we'll see what's next.

One reason is many car buyers expect discounts and rebates, going back to the 1970's. But, call it an 'SUV' and people will empty wallets. Also, pickups are status symbols, big 4 door 'daily drivers', and again, no one complains about the prices. So, high profit wins, but for how long?

Gladiators are novelty-conversation pieces, for Jeep fan boys. The rich guys got all the marked up ones early to show off [example "Hoovie" on You Tube] . The small bed is used for gym bags, Amazon packages, and bicycles [maybe?]. True pick-up customers just kick its tires, get a full sized truck.
Where are all the buyers now? Wasn't this supposed to be a "game-changer"? ROFLOL

Most 60's Impalas were family sedans, not all were manual trans, Big Block SS's, and there were also trims of full size Chevy: Biscayne, Bel Air, and Caprice. The often quoted "1 million 1965 models" included those.
Some younger car fans think all old Chevys were "Imaplas", like on those Motor Trend TV "car build shows". Even once heard someone pozt online "Love the 1957 Chevy Impala!"

All the "first on the block" sales have cooled. Chrysler still is the "buy a car, get a check" company after all.
The 'FCA' name is on borrowed time, with PSA merger.

This new year, 2020 was supposed to be the "magic time" when 'driverless-electric cars' were going to be "widely for sale". Now, the magic will occur in 10 years.
Reminds me of when 1985 was going to be the era of "$5-10 gallon gas, and all small FWD cars" per 1980 Car & Driver articles.
