  1. A few years ago or so, I put on this forum that the Focus transmission problems were going to seriously damage Ford's reputation and cause many buyers, most of which are first time buyers to swear off Ford for good. Someone, I forget who posted in response, "Drama much?" Well... here you go. Read the articles and see. It is simply not just the people who bought the car that got burned, its also those who bought the car second hand, and between these people many were first time buyers (young) who will now never buy Ford again. At least if I got burned by this, I'd have other Fords I owned that I liked and may still consider Ford based on that. But these kids, will trash Ford to their friends too and they won't buy them either. Henry Ford was pretty explicit on how he viewed reputation. (You cant build a reputation based on something you say you're going to do.) It takes may years to build confidence in your product and one bad experience to lose it. Multiply this over seven years averaging 200,000 cars a year or so and all the used car experiences and that's a lot of angry people who are advising everyone they know to stay away from Ford. So drama much? Yes, I'd say so.

  4. My buddy had this 1998 F150 3 Door 4x4 in his oversized garage (along with two other daily drivers). It had been very well maintained, and preserved. He was driving it about 4-5k miles a year doing chores etc. About 3 years ago I told him, when you downsize, and are ready to let her go, give me first dibs. Patience pays off, he calls me last month and said he sold his gigantic house and acreage, and he and his wife (kids now adults and out on their own) are finally moving to a much smaller property. He told me if I took it "as is", it would be a great deal. We went through the stuff that needed to be fixed and most were things I could do myself (I may have a question or two for Fordtech1). I saved him the trouble of having to have certain things fixed that a potential buyer would bicker over, so it was win-win. I grabbed it at a really great price, and now she is mine. While everyone, including myself, wants a new truck, I think it will be fun using this for my truck chores and keeping it running great and road worthy. I told all my friends; "...I wouldn't buy any old used truck, but this one was one in million..." He is an Air Force Veteran, that explains the color scheme. It is really quite nice in today's black and white world.

  5. The Ford GT beats the Corvette in one important area - revenue per vehicle. Nobody is paying even half the GTs price for a C8.

  6. Once again, GM has answered a question that was never asked, you can see that it got the shits on big time over the Ford GT and became so hell bent on "beating it" that Chevrolet lost sight of its own Corvette buyer needs and preferences The styling is so busy and generic that it reminds me of the confused mess on the front of the Silverado - too many design elements and just like flavors in cooking, less would have been so much better.

  7. You can include me in the dislike category. That looks terrible. Ruins the center stack.

  8. If you wanted resale in a small car you should have bought a Corolla or Civic to begin with. It is actually insane what someone will pay for one with 150K or even 200K on them.

  9. That's just ridiculous. I hate when they do something different just for the sake of being different. It's not better, or more efficient, or better looking, just different. Stupid.

  13. Has nothing to do with Ford loyalty. I don't care for Corvette styling, although the C7 has grown on me. My favorite sports cars would be 2019 Ford GT Porsche 911 GT3 Ferrari 458 Porsche Boxster S speedster Mustang GT350/GT500

  14. Coming from a Ford Enthusiast site, this is the answer I've been waiting for. So,,,, let's re-phrase the question; if you had to choose between any Mustang and a mid-engine Ford GT, do you still pick the Mustang? Can you honestly take the Brand out of the equation? HRG

  15. Nope, still think you’re fear mongering it wouldn't surprise me if most of the plants have mice/rats in them. Lots of places for them to hide and not be bothered.

  16. I'd take any Mustang over a Vette any day of the week, regardless of price.

  17. That side profile is very Ferrari 458 which is a good thing. They tried to keep the Vette styling cues with the taillights and front end but I don't think that really works with the rest of the body. I think they should have kept the current Vette and slotted this one around $125K with a better interior and clean sheet styling and a more refined engine.

  18. I'm curious how the performance compares to a Ford GT in real life. It certainly would be interesting to have a mid-engine vehicle at a fraction of the cost with similar performance and arguably better livability. Sure the Ford GT is a "bespoke, rare limited edition vehicle" which adds to its allure and value. But if the C8 offers performance in the same breath as the GT at 20% the cost, well............rarity could go out the window. ...and that goes for Porsche, Ferrari, etc... I'd love for Ford to make a vehicle like this that remains in production.

  19. I think it was more or less bad timing and styling that killed the Freestyle/Taurus X off...gas pricing and boring styling didn't help it.

  21. I don’t hate it at all. It looks like a mutt of a vehicle. Reminds me of a Camaro, has some nsx in it among some other styling cues that mimic other sports cars. I’m interested to see it in person. However, I like the current C7 looks better so far. Also, “most technologically advanced gm” that’s scary for the first year buyers. As I was reading the technology details, electric brakes, first time GM uses a DCT, new electrical architecture. This thing has bugs written all over it. They may beat BMW as far being in the shop. Gm wants to be European! Not to poo poo on the whole thing. I think it’s cool they took a chance. Grab the popcorn and let’s see what’s going to happen in the next year.

  22. They where on different platforms to a point too (Probe/Mustang is the first one to pop into my head)...common platforms/engines with new tophats this go around.

  23. I have over 27 years credit with this company, I don't know where you coming from ididntdoit? just your name says you are trying to escape reality. We are working for a great company making a lot of money. I'm going to retire as soon as i'm eligible. What are you complaining about? I made sure my kids got a university education and don't have to follow my footsteps into an industry that will probably be fully automated within the next 20 to 30 years. Enjoy the present because it will not last.

  27. My prediction is simple. Neither side wants to ruffle any feathers. Management in both IUAW and Ford are surely aware of signs of an industry slowdown coming in the next few years. The new contract will include loads of plant investments for all of these new magical electric and self-driving cars the media won't shut up about so the union can claim victory there, and nothing major will change with our benefits except for maybe how some of them are structured to save money for the company so they can claim a victory. In other words business as usual. Now if we worked for GM I would be singing a different tune and would be screaming from the hilltops arm-in-arm with fatso about how we need to strike.
