  1. Remember when Ford dropped out of first place when they switched over the plants for the new aluminum bodies?? Oh, yeah...thats right, they didn't....

  2. Finally resolved. No charge for the radiator work. I went in this morning, asked for the general manager, got his assistant to whom I described the situation. I waited in the showroom and the GM came down after about 5 minutes, said my truck was ready to go and there was no charge for the radiator. He also warned me there are rocks all over the frame and it will happen again. I suppressed the eye roll reflex but will look things over underneath to be sure. The only debris near the engine bay was a thin layer of dirt on the suspension wishbones. There is a frame cross member below the radiator but a rock would have to levitate nearly a foot to reach the fan, which would have kicked it back toward the engine anyway. I paid for the service I ordered, and drove away from Fritts Ford for the final time. There are other places in the area to get service if the need arises on a future visit. FWIW, since I never authorized the radiator work that was already completed, it seems they knew they were on the hook for it. Their various offers were just attempts to get me to OK the work so they could bill me for something that was their responsibility. I understand mistakes happen, but a conscientious business person seeks to proactively make things right for the customer when it does. Instead, Fritts Ford seemed to treat their mistake as an opportunity to make more money. If I was the typical out-of-state traveller in a hurry to get somewhere else, it might have worked. Thank you all for you feedback and support. Mom is stable for now, but her long-term prognosis isn't great. She beat terminal cancer 21 years ago but her body took a beating in the process. I've learned to not count her out, however. She's a feisty Irish/Sicilian fire cracker.

  8. Hmmmmm................... incentives are $500 less than Ram, but $1500 more than F150. They can't even make any inroads against the oldest truck on the market, with $1500 more of incentives?

  9. Have you noticed that GM never does anything "across the board" at a company level? It's always either one vehicle at a time (Volt, then Bolt e.g.) or only one brand. It's like watching a concert with 20 different 1 hit wonders.

  11. Most of the 2011 edge that I’ve seen with ACC problems has to do with the sensor knocked off its pins behind the bumper. It requires bumper cover removal and the sensor snapped back in place.

  12. GM should really drop GMC and Buick and put all that money into making Chevrolet better.

  13. The part about how GM is deliberately sabotaging its own fleet sales on the new truck is peak-GM nonsense. This is a fullsize truck... it is SUPPOSED to have big fleet sale component that drives profit. I predict the next big thing at GM will be limiting fleets sales of its fullsize vans and medium duty trucks too so it can brag about the low fleet sale % to wall street... ?

  15. Instead of spending all that money on a specialty vehicle why not electrify all their mainstream utilities and trucks? I know, I know - they're working on it.

  16. Yep it seems the 3.0L Explorer has matching fuel tank size with the Aviator. I'm looking at other Ford & Lincoln products including the outgoing Explorer and both the EPA and the Ford website says 18.6 gallons, etc. Perhaps this is a new rule for 2020MY+ to have different tank size definitions between EPA and Ford?

  17. We knew Ram was discounting like crazy but Ford keeping the sales lead with $1500 - $2000 less incentives is impressive.

  19. Gosh, I remember Sheriff. That was a looooooooooooooong time ago. I follow Richard Jensen on Twitter (though he mostly just posts about sports as he is a writer for a blog or something I think). We got into it a couple times, but I really respect him. He backs up any argument he had with solid facts. I miss him!

  20. I just read the Autoblog review, and it seems that they like the powertrains, found the steering/suspension to be kind of numb and "springy", they loved the styling, but weren't stunned by the interior materials and various issues involving the back row. While I don't see the criticisms as damning, I do hope that the ST answers the steering/suspension gripes somewhat. The hybrid appears to be more about torque than mpg, which is both kind of refreshing but potentially damaging to perceptions. I find it odd that Ford didn't go all-in regarding USB connectivity throughout the vehicle, as that's become the new "cupholders" standard for interiors. All in all, I look very forward to the ST reviews.

  23. The difference (curb weight to shipping weight) is probably fuel. A full tank (20.2 gallons) would be 121 lbs. Pretty sure Ford doesn't ship the vehicles with any more than a couple of gallons in the tanks.

  24. Who knows what options that ST curb weight had. Mine had most of them and I trust Fords invoice over a 3rd party review. This is 1 of mine. I did not choose the smokers ash tray, wheel locks, DVD, rubber mats. Could all these add up to 95lbs more? I dont think so.

  26. Why would they even have a minimum refueling time in the first place? And multiplying a 0.6 second time infraction to 55 seconds seems way too harsh. No wonder Ford is leaving the series.

  27. Good point! I mean, as much as I scoffed at the Volt for being 1950s locomotive technology (which it is) it was still a plug in hybrid with 50 mile range. Imagine if they had applied that technology to all their crossovers or trucks/SUVs? Same with Bolt. Good technology, bad packaging. But again - one and done. Bespoke platforms for Cadillac that were only later shared with other brands/vehicles. Absolutely no cohesive product strategy that I can see across brands.

  28. Exactly, I hate when Ford does this. Real styling changes are what attract people’s attention and creates desire to upgrade.

  30. Ah the good 'ol GM spin machine. No, don't make a competent product that doesn't scream of blatant cost cutting, just half ass it and run constant attack ads against your competition for being "new" GM, they sure let old habits die hard

  31. Based on looks, no. Much prefer my 6.5' SC. However, I just started parking in the garage in the new house and I have to basically touch the wall with the front bumper to fit (with about 3 inches to spare). Now I see why people prefer Rangers sometimes.

  35. Strike... not in our life time Fatso. The silence is more of a result of the last shopping spree, pay off or shhh money that the last contract had and now involving the FBI attention, I think. I heard, they said and someone told me its all ready done... we be getting next years profit sharing check in the second week of Sept. as a signing bone us. IUAW has inked a deal with BIG JIMMY "Settles Everything" to make the tour of the Ford locals that voted down the last two contracts, in his Hollywood style he will be taking questions for three shows a day, two on Sundays. Balloons, Champaign and dancing persons (<--- politically correct) will be contracted from IUAW Chrysler Division to support Big Jimmy`s headliner act and cooperate view point of (drum roll please)....... "!!!!You all should just be thankful you even jobs!!!!"

  36. This Stealer is probably banking on the fact that the vehicle owner is 1200 miles from home, needs his vehicle to get home, and isn't going to spend the $$$ traveling back and forth to fight us in court. So, let's bend him over and take his money. By now, this dealerships name should have been posted, so the social-media side of the world can get involved. HRG
