  1. I believe this may be the case. I heard back from my closest guy late last night and he was just as surprised as we were. However, it appears this has gone from blue sky to steel incredibly fast. More interestingly... they are apparently comfortable investing heavily into the Bronco brand as a top-to-bottom competitor, not alternative, to Jeep. With FCA's current situation they want to be ready to pounce with any sign of trouble. Compact to Full-size with offroad chops in every model. They're investing in this "just as much as they are in Lincoln" as a "pillar of our company." If you weren't already, it's time to get excited.

  5. My problem is the width, though. Let's see... Ranger is 73.3" wide. A regular F-150 is 79.9" wide Raptor is 86.3" wide, +6.4" over the regular model Assuming Bronco is the same width as Ranger (which it may grow slightly for the NG, and Bronco is on the NG platform), a Bronco Raptor could theoretically be 79.7, which is virtually the same width as the regular F-150, but still 6.6" narrower than the F-150 Raptor. I don't see any reduced track width on that model, which appears to otherwise use a completely stock Raptor body (not a hacked up narrowed version). The wheels aren't sitting way inside the wheel wells like they would if they were just hiding a Ranger platform under a F-150 body.

  6. Well the problem is they already announced they're going to drop it way too early, so they have to skirt around that, and it seems like they don't have a replacement planned (or at least ready to announce), so it doesn't really make sense to announce "we changed our minds, we're doing this now" without another product to announce - whether that be a next gen Fusion, or a replacement "white space" model.

  7. I'm starting to think no one around Ford even knows what the plan is with the Fusion. First it was supposed to be cancelled after the 2020 model year. Then the story was updated to say production will continue to "at least" 2021 which means a 2021 or even a 2022 model year. Then other sources at Ford have said it'll continue until 2023. ? Why not just make a statement like... "We plan to keep building our popular Fusion sedan for the next few model years focusing on quality and value for midsized car shoppers." That is always better for selling current products even if you have some internal EOL date. Ford has stretched other much older and less competitive products then the Fusion in the past. I'm guessing sales numbers will hold pretty steady on it for the next couple years or so being it's the only 4 door sedan Ford offers after the Fiesta is gone.

  8. Bronco is going to be a range of vehicles not just one vehicle.

  9. First off, beautiful car! I’m partial to mustangs and enjoy seeing nice examples of the vehicle. Second, I found when researching the paint correction that the mileage had little to do with the need for the correction. My Nav had 250 miles on it when I took it in... I’d owned it less than a week and it was built 3 weeks prior. So in other words it was literally brand spanking new. I was shocked at the difference the correction made and mine is the Ingot silver color which hides imperfections pretty well. I paid a lot more than you did but I also didn’t have a friend who could do the work. 100% would do it again, though.

  10. Yeah, Hackett worked out that in the past Ford had spent too much time researching models that by the time they developed them, they were then years late to the market place. Hoping his new strategies ar cutting through the seven or nine levels of BS atrophying middle management at Ford.

  11. Hackett talked recently about a vehicle project going from market research to design/ developing 12 weeks instead of years, he didn’t elaborate further

  12. I've been daily driving my Fusion for 2 months now after 8 years of almost exclusively driving a manual in my personal vehicles and once or twice a week I still step on the clutch pedal that isn't there. Sometimes stopping at red lights I find myself fishing for neutral which my wife still makes fun of me for. Oddly enough I never had that problem in my work van when I worked at the floor company

  16. Forget any concerns you have of it looking bland. I think it looks like nothing else on the road today (not even a wrangler). It's gonna be badass. You're going to love it, both enthusiast and casual customer.
