  1. You have nothing to prove. What does your family have that proves them right? All vehicles have to be fixed once and while, there is no shortage for service and repairs being done on foreign brands every single day.

  2. I sort of laugh when the so-called business experts are trying to claim that a Ford-VW or Ford-GM merger will happen soon because of the whole FCA-Renault deal. Ford will likely form joint ventures like they are with VW or possibly Rivian in the future, but merge away this company? I don't see that happening anytime soon. The family seems so proud, involved and has enough control they'd almost go down with the ship before they sold it off and lost control. It truly is our last original US automaker that has never merged away or went bankrupt. You've got to give them a lot of credit for preserving Henry's legacy.

  5. I agree...calling this The 'V' instead of 'V-Sport' is like calling the ecoboost Mustang a GT, and saying wait for the GT+ to come out next year!

  6. For those who are really interested in this proposed merger, listen to the last few minutes of Thursday's Autoline Daily. Go to the 4:45 mark. Very interesting. http://www.autoline.tv/journal/?p=62047

  7. They already had V and V-Sport. They could have added something above V like AMG S or BMW's Competition Package if that's what they really wanted to do. Instead they downgraded the V to where V-Sport used to be. It's really a bunch of nonsense. No one will be complaining if CT4-V Sport had 320hp. That's about the ballpark for BMW M240i and Audi S3. But they are calling it CT4-V, which is a significant downgrade from the current ATS-V. Ditto CTS-V vs. CT5-V. It went from M5 slayer to barely able to keep up with mid trim Audi S4. Edit: also, CT4 is clearly just a facelift of ATS... talk about mailing it in.

  8. At this point, we should just start considering "this is GM" a reason in and of itself. ?

  10. Calling these V models is odd. The problem isn't that they're going to offer models above these. The problem is that they took the existing V name, which was well regarded, and watered it down so that they could add trims above V. They could have kept V-sport (much like BMW and Mercedes do M-sport, and AMG sport or whatever theirs is called), and badged these models as V-sport. The "coming" higher performance models would've been the V (proper) models, and if they wanted to go above and beyond that, you do - "Super V" or something. With the move now, on paper to the average Joe, it looks like Cadillac V is a downgrade from the previous models - regardless of some future higher model that nobody can see right now. They spent years building the V name, only to water it down themselves. This move would be akin to BMW taking the M340i (with 385hp) and calling it the new M3, and then saying, but wait! At a later date, we'll show something else that'll be what the last M3 was, but it's not going to be an M3! Maybe it's just the headlight design, but I keep thinking of this: Doesn't help that in the reveal event photos the Caddy badge looks too large and like it was slapped on a generic vehicle from a TV ad. ---- The CT4's interior does look good, though. I didn't like the rear at first, but I actually like the back end better in the real world shots than the GM photos. Also, supposedly there are higher powered/better performing models coming above this, which makes the use of the V name instead of V-sport trim on these odd.

  11. See though that’s the difference between a family controlled company vs. a faceless activist controlled corporation. If you watch any interview with any Ford family member who’s deeply involved with Ford the love, pride and commitment to their company is amazing. Every year at the annual meeting some stockholders always bring up the proposal to take away the special voting shares that the family has that gives them a 40% controlling voting share. This year it was actually defeated by a slightly larger margin then in past years. Taking away this special class of stock would be the end of Ford Motor Company as we know it. So it’s not so much divine help that’s saved Ford, but a family that cares deeply about keeping it running. Sure lots of mistakes have been made, but somehow the Ford’s always dig their heals in, pull up their boots straps and keep this 115 year old American icon running.

  19. This is the quietest its been before a contract that I can remember.Only a couple rumors posted on someones Facebook page about buyoutsI am also hearing about an increase in Lifetime Retirement Benefits. If buyouts happen that would be the icing on the cake for those who are ready to go.I know Ford needs massive restructuring in Europe and Ford is also eliminating salaried employees.I doubt that their will be much left to go around after that but who knows. The question always is how much will we have to 'give back' in order to receive a $1500 signing bonus?I say STRIKE EM while ya can and I am at a plant that will probably get targeted for a strike.Free coffee, free donuts, possible picture on the evening news, get to holler.Ask for everything settle for 75% or unleash Fatso on em!

  20. If the union couldn't negate more than $70k in 2015 when things were good and sales looked to be increasing, what makes you think that 4 years later when the industry has at best plateaued and the company is restructuring they could negotiate a bigger incentive?

  21. The Mustang needs a diet, not a bigger engine. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-technology/a26306469/ford-super-duty-73-v8-engine-details-specs/ It's clear from the R&T article that the 7.3L is designed as a gas alternative to a diesel motor.

  23. That's funny i missed the part where the article said they were selling none. There is still a V8 or nothing crowd, it is just getting smaller and will continue to shrink. It's sad but inevitable as not only the technology erases the performance gap but fuel gets more expensive and less people care about the V8's biggest and best advantage the "SOUND".

  24. So to end this story, the dealer and the dealer rep. took charge, dug in and got my Ranger out of "Ramp Jail" (blocked by other Rangers on the Ramp and pushed to later delivery dates). I took delivery this afternoon. This is why I bought from this dealer, Seymour Ford. See Below:
