  1. For those who hate the renderings, sorry. The Mach E may not look exactly like them, but it will be similar. We've already been shown official renderings of the front and back, and it has leaked that the Mach E will be a crossover coupe.

  2. No, it's from a British magazine site that keeps misquoting Model E as Mustang based, not Mustang inspired. in the space of a day, they changed their previous rendering to look more like a Mustang based on what they thought they heard, not what was actually said. We know that hackett made Ford redo the styling of Model E to make it more desirable for people to won and drive, so it will have some of that Mustang DNA but certainly not a direct copy. We may however be approaching a time where Ford will start offering the performance oriented buyer more choices than just an ICE based package.

  3. "Ford trademarked "Mach E," "Mach-E," and "Mustang Mach-E" for use on motor vehicles, electric vehicles and passenger vehicles within days of each other in late March and early April. The automaker also recently trademarked "Thunder" and "Evos" for similar uses. The automaker also owns "Model E," a trademark Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk wanted for one of his vehicles." https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2019/04/13/ford-trademarks-mach-e-name-hype-builds-new-electric-vehicle/3450959002/

  5. Agree. I hope the greenhouse depicted on the blue one is not nearly as pinched as that - the bunker style greenhouse is out of style.

  6. You could flip your statement around and say that FCA is linking with partners with no significant $ investment, save the value of the vehicles they are contributing, while other big global automakers are making significant investment in autonomy, to the tune of billions of $.

  7. Most likely, the switch has melted and damaged its pigtail. The resistor is NOT a part of the circuit on high. Replace the pigtail and switch and check the motor for excessive current draw when running.

  8. So, you've identified $30 million (+!) in actual investment. I wonder if FCA's 'investment' as a partner with Waymo amounts to the value of the vehicles they are contributing for fitment by Waymo?

  9. Again, I'm going to use aviation as an example... Auto pilot has been around for many years and it gets more sophisticated every time a new plane is designed or new systems are upgraded. But it still requires a HUGE amount of human input to fly the plane properly. Pilot-less planes is still science fiction stuff and will probably never happen. And here is the rub... aviation automation is a lot simpler than self-driving vehicle. Airplanes are generally not dealing with interfaces with other airplanes in close proximity. There is generally enough time to warn the pilot of pending danger or problems. The reason we automated airplanes before cars is because it is easier... but as the Boeing 737 Max mess demonstrates, it can still cause a lot of problems. If you don't trust an airplane to fly itself, there is very little reason to hand your life to a car that drives itself. We are not there yet... not even close.

  10. While I don't disagree with the thought that Ford needs a car here, and it sucks to see them kill a great care like the Fusion, the problem is that you can't keep it around just to have something to sell in a recession. If it isn't making you money now, it's definitely not going to make you money in a recession. Like akirby mentioned, folks won't go back to cars, they will go to smaller CUV's. The fuel economy difference isn't as great as it was before (you have to think percentage changes, not actual MPG numbers), so that's really a non-starter. While I hate to see Ford lose the best sedan they've ever sold here, I think it's the right choice.

  11. Or maybe instead of Fusions they’ll be buying Ecosports , Pumas, Mavericks and Escapes. They’ll get the same or better mpg and the first two will be cheaper than a Fusion sedan.

  12. If Ford can't make money building Fusion in Mexico, it sure as hell ain't going to make money shipping them from Spain. In order to make money on it, Ford will have to charge more money. Hard to charge more money on a car that hasn't changed significantly since 2012...

  13. Just run the line in the headliner over the the A pillar and down the side into the passenger side fuse box. I wired my radar that way and you can't see any wires. You will need the 12v to 5v adapter of course. Really easy to run them

  14. I got this ELM327 USB adapter. Others clones can work but this was listed as 100% compatable and for a few extra bucks and less headache I just got it. http://elm-327.eu/elm_usbhsms Then get FORScan here : http://forscan.org/download.html(its free for PC but costs a few bucks if you want it on your phone instead) Also you would need a WIFI or BLUETOOTH OBDII adapter not a USB one that I listed. Sign up at the forscan forum (free) takes around 12-24 hours to get approved http://forscan.org/forum/ Then you have to register forscan extended license (also free) http://forscan.org/forum/extlic.php Video here More instructions here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-8dKaS_Spu4Zw4hV_CrKC4tLoP9G8yejqegF1wxIqxY/edit And some codes you can do and the different modules. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uDSQ1Z5a2Wt8-kjrSiVSlDFGFHnfeuhb3RTMVz95730/edit#gid=947697077 Aways backup first so you have the Original off all modules you modify. This way can easily go back to "stock" and also backup once you make all your changes so you can easily go back to fully modded (say if you bring it to the dealer for something and don't want them to see the changes you made. Here is a video to show how to backup It was very easy to do and it made the truck so much better. Would be nice if they just had these settings in a menu in the truck that was easy to change but this code reader and free app work just as well. Plus the app can read and clear trouble codes and more so it has other uses if you want. HAVE FUN!
