  1. Well at least they haven't cut corners on the new Corvette, otherwise you'd see all sorts of problems from electrical to warped frames and.........

  3. Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell are rolling over in their graves right now... That C-pillar area and rear window look very untidy. Overall, as others have noted, it does not look like a premium sedan.

  4. Holy shit the styling is fucking terrible. I get a Japanese vibe from the greenhouse and the rest of it really doesn’t even look like a caddy

  5. The conventional wisdom is alphanumeric names help accrue that connection to the brand as opposed to individual models. For example, back in the day, a lot more people recognized Integra and Legend when prompted but comparably less people recognized Acura when prompted. From a marketing perspective, you want people to say "I drive an Acura Integra", not "I drive an Integra". Switching to Alphanumeric names help people get in the habit of saying "I drive an Acura RSX". The problem is when brands introduce alphanumeric names, they fall into the trap that marketing study says alphanumeric help elevate the brand. They forget the actual reason why certain alphanumeric naming schemes are successful. The point of alphanumeric scheme is to bring order... establish internal logic so you can tell model hierarchy without having any sort of intimate knowledge of the brand that would be required if the models had normal names - e.g. it is a lot easier to understand 3<5<7 series denotes size (and price) vs. Cimarron<Seville<deVille<Fleetwood. This is why Lincoln MK? was just total nonsense and no better than random names like Zephyr, Aviator and Continental... because MKZ, MKX and MKS were just as random and didn't help establish Lincoln as a brand of full line of vehicles from small to large.

  6. I was thinking about advertising from the Model T to the Model E.....ahhh maybe that's corny.

  7. They've been able to get by without much real competition for so long. I don't think they'll be able to skate by with half assed updates any more. Hopefully what RAM is doing to them in the truck space is a wakeup call. Because if they do with Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon what they did with Silvererra it's not going to be good.

  8. EV has existing infrastructural. Every building has electricity outlet. Even the most remote parts of the US is wired for electricity. The issue with hydrogen is not even infrastructure. It is basic chemistry... If you want clean hydrogen (i.e. without carbon), you need to make it from water (H2O). However, it takes more energy to separate H and H from O (basically electrolysis on a massive scale) than what's left after the process so it is a net negative use of energy. So hydrogen from water (the holy grail) is not currently viable unless we have a vast source of carbon free electricity (i.e. nuclear fusion). The only economically feasible way to produce hydrogen now and for the foreseeable future is from fossil fuels... basically converting natural gas (primarily methane or CH4) to hydrogen. The problem with this is again, the net reduction in energy density in the process and the carbon it creates. Essentially, we are much better off just burning the natural gas than converting it hydrogen and natural gas infrastructure already exists in most US populated area. And because you are still using fossil fuel, it is not a sustainable long term solution. Hydrogen fuel cell EV has a role in the transportation network of the future but it won't be in privately owned vehicles like Toyota Mirai. Battery EV is much smarter choice since charging infrastructure already exist in the form of the electric grid. And we can produce electricity from carbon neutral source (e.g. solar, wind, hydro, nuclear fission etc.)

  12. Things are looking up on the steering wheel front! My car, waiting for a wheel since 2/18, was is now showing as "Released for Shipment" on 3/16. Steering Wheel Purgatory does have an end !

  13. Nice! Making better vehicles with higher profits, and selling many more than before is a sure fire way to keep the company on the right path.

  16. Agree. Mustang design cues like the scalloped doors have made their way to other Ford cars before. This BEV may go a little crazy with them, but the Mustang is a good car to emulate.

  18. lots of noise on the internet-but when does that translate into sales? It obviously didn't The D4 is an ok car-my parents had a 2008 Sable and I have a 2013 Taurus SHO-both have had minor issues over the years-I personally hate the overall packaging-I find the car too "big", but its an awesome highway cruiser on long trips and the power the SHO has is great. I'm meh about the car itself-I liked my old Mustang GT better at the same point in life that my SHO is now. It gets me where I need to go, but I don't enjoy it like I did with the Mustang-plus I'm just getting older I guess.

  19. "Meanwhile, in the U.S., Ford customers are bitter about the end of Taurus production, which can still be found in the brand's distributor network as long as the stock lasts."

  20. Neither. It wasn't launched here because it BOMBED in focus groups and test studies.

  21. Here's where you’re wrong. As always, Mustang and Mustang Convertible will be unchanged as far as they are seen in and out of the company. Mustang Hybrid (like every other Hybrid ford has ever done outside of the C-Max) will be treated as a trim level. Mach-E will not carry the Mustang name and once again, it's design is only inspired by Mustang.

  24. This doesn't look premium, let alone luxury class. The front end does not integrate well. Overall, it would make a fine Saturn!
