Here's where you’re wrong. As always, Mustang and Mustang Convertible will be unchanged as far as they are seen in and out of the company. Mustang Hybrid (like every other Hybrid ford has ever done outside of the C-Max) will be treated as a trim level. Mach-E will not carry the Mustang name and once again, it's design is only inspired by Mustang.3 points

If you painted the 'bill' up front yellow, and put a sailor's cap on it, it would look like Donald Duck!2 points

The 2nd RAV4 EV was a compliance car to meet the CARB ZEV mandate... same reason Ford sold the Focus EV.1 point

All the ST products? Raptor? The GT? I think you don't give people enough credit. I'd be against calling it Mustang Mach E. Mustang-inspired design? Sure! Pony logo (not Mustang's, but a new variation)? Sure! But using the Mustang name? No. --- Interesting about F-150, but makes sense with some of the info we've been getting - especially in regards to the hybrid/electric models supposed to be out soon. I'm guessing it'll be a '09-type redesign, where they kept the same cab but made everything else new. Unless changing for electric capabilities required changing everything. They likely haven't finalized the alternate horse logo and don't want to jump the gun (imagine that), so as a way to tie into Mustang and generate buzz, they'll use Mustang's logo for now. They get easy marketing out of a line of horse-branded models - come see Ford's new stable - Mustang/Mach E/Maverick/Bronco. HA - that made me just think - don't we kind of have to see King Ranch models of Maverick and Bronco at least?1 point

Exactly. Remember when the 2015 Mustang came out and people were bitching and moaning that the 2.3 was called Mustang EcoBoost? The hybrid is kind of the same thing and Mach E isn't even in that discussion because it won't carry the Mustang name.1 point

Which is not a bad thing for Ford or the Mustang.1 point

And that's fine, just don't force people to take $5k-$7k packages for something as simple as a $750 comfort package.1 point

FCA has 12 separate electrification systems either in production or under development. They were kind of late to join the push for electrification. The late Sergio Marchionne's negative attitude toward EVs was the main reason. But now FCA is prepared for this inevitable shift. Wards Auto said "Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ war with the electrification movement is over, as the automaker promises here to invest €9 billion ($10.5 billion) over the next five years on a broad portfolio of products ranging from mild hybrids all the way to full battery electric vehicles." https://www.wardsauto.com/engines/fca-makes-big-commitment-electrification1 point

This doesn't look premium, let alone luxury class. The front end does not integrate well. Overall, it would make a fine Saturn!1 point

I can see Lincoln competing with a CD6 based Zephyr replacement to MKZ....and then create a 4"-6" stretch version (in the rear seat area) labeled Continental with coach doors.1 point

Ford knows approximately how many customers that would walk away vs how many will buy a more expensive model vs how many will buy something else. The 202a is going to the volume leader as well as the lease leader and that is why they offer both the bench seat and moonroof on that line. Very few dealers will even stock a 200a Explorer which will probably be for ads. The problem is that people order a 200a with a moonroof and some weird color and when it comes in don’t buy it and the dealer is stuck with a vehicle no other customer wants. Even if Ford loses 5% of customers because of streamlining options, they’ll make more profit because they have cut complexity and increased residuals for the lease returns because of consistent equipment levels at the auction. It’s not about volume or appealing to every customer, it’s about profit. Selling 1000 cheap units with a moonroof will cost the company more in complexity than they could ever hope to make in profit form the moonroof options.1 point

I just read VW is cancelling an IPO they were going to implement for their new truck unit Traton due to poor markets and financial issues. Then I read there's another round of lawsuits facing them regarding the dieselgate scandal. Ford: Get out while you can!!!!1 point

The Mach E is going to be a show stopper. It is stunning and truly the single greatest design Ford has pumped out in the last 10-20 years. I can’t wait for it to hit the streets. It should use the Mach E name not Mustang Mach E but it’s still TBD from last I heard. Lot of internal debate over it. The 2021 F-150 goes into production in June 2020, way earlier than the last F-150 launches. It could be revealed at the Texas State Fair or in January at its own event. The 2020 Explorer reveal at Ford Field was a test for a large scale stand-alone reveal.1 point

To add to this, they literally mean inspired. Meaning it will have a general fasback look to it and as we've seen, Mustang style 3 vertical bar taillights1 point

Calling it a Mustang Mach-E isn't just "Mustang-inspired".........that means it IS a Mustang, even if the only thing is shares with it is the name and a pony badge. Please Ford...........don't, just don't ?1 point

These photos of the GT500 are MUCH closer to the original Grabber Lime of the 70s. Fuzzy, were the photos you saw Ford press photos? I'm thinking they've just Photoshopped some of the existing GT500 images from a couple of months back.1 point

Is it REALLY that hard for Ford to just fucking build what somebody wants? I understand needing certain preset packages for dealer lot vehicles, but if somebody is custom ordering a vehicle... just bloody make the damn vehicle they want! It can't be that hard to read down an option list and build the car accordingly. "Oh hey, this guy wants plain black mirrors on his Premium LTZ Deluxe Sport, that's cool, hey jimmy go get some black mirrors from the back!"1 point

Or, you could spend a sum to fix an older vehicle and get many more years out of it mostly trouble free! What does it cost to replace a vehicle, not what the book says its worth. Everyone knows a vehicle is not an investment. I am definitely a keeper person. I look at it this way: I question not what the vehicle is worth in some book, but I ask myself; is the vehicle worth fixing? My '08 Explorer is in very nice condition and would cost me the better part of $40k to replace with a 7 passenger 4x4 that can tow and haul, take the family camping, and drive in snow and ice over Colorado mountains. If I had to drop 3k on a new transmission it would be a no-brainer. 3k vs 40k. I am getting older and the whole emotional need for cool new stuff is wearing off.1 point
