  2. Just curious if anyone has any knowledge of just what interaction there is with Ford Otosan. In particular when it comes to commercial vehicles. It is my understanding that all heavy truck engineering world wide is handled by Ford Otosan-which is owned jointly by Ford and the Koc family on a 50/50 basis. I went to the Ford Otosan Portal and it is an impressive site. One thing that jumped out...1200 engineers employed. A few of us have repeatedly wondered why the 9L Ecotorque diesel is not brought here to provide another option to the 6.7. I recognize it would have to undergo certification but how far is Euro 6 from US EPA standards? Or again-is "One Ford" yesterday's newspaper. And by the way, the new F-Max Ford which is "international Truck of the Year" is being rolled out all across Europe and the middle east. When you look at the commitment these people have going up against the existing big truck power houses of Daimler, Volvo, VW/Scania etc., it is impressive.

  3. Hi I’m new to the forum..I ordered a 2019 xl ranger from Walt’s live oak ford , live oak fla. they did not use the rovp program. The sales code is f24403 and the order code is p 400. Is there going to be a problem if they did not use rovp. regards Doc68 Is it necessary to purchase a ranger through ROVP, or can the dealer just order one? Regards Doc68

  4. Well that’s great news. Now if it stays around the same price of the current mkc, I’m gonna have a tough decision to make between maverick, Corsair, and ranger.

  6. I don't think design is an issue with those cars. Jaguars are about understated elegance. The D7a platform XF and XE continue that tradition. Main things that hurt Jaguar right now are the quality issues (not just in China) plus decline in the entire premium sedan market worldwide.

  7. Yup! Hats off to ALL you factory guys. During my 74 years on this planet, I have NEVER wanted or had a truck. Been a car guy forever. But....the Ranger has just put a burr under my a$$ and I have to have one. This is going to SHOCK all my friends when they see me towing in to the drag strip with a TRUCK and not my Mercury Grand Marquis!!!

  8. As the owner of a 2017 Platinum Explorer I would go with this answer. Assuming the EV range is adequate, it will be replaced with the Aviator GT the only question being Reserve II or Black Label. Before the current Explorer we had a 2013 Limited. Some people want both the luxury and performance. That is why the Aviator should be a big hit. The next big thing that people will want is a PHEV if not a BEV. If Ford is smart they will add a PHEV to all their lines - with a real EV side - 30+ mile range and adequate performance in EV only.

  9. That came directly from the engine program's chief engineer. The link is earlier in this topic. The 777 was a 7.0L BOSS engine with a 4V head. The point is that the 7L displacement was designed as well as the 4V head for this engine family. It's not like it would need a new development program. The information that has come out about the 7.3L indicates that it is an engine designed to constantly and under high load put out a large fraction of its available power at a relatively low RPM. This indicates that the peak power number may not be as high as many would like (relatively low specific output for an engine introduced in 2020) and is probably not a good "performance" engine for a high-end Mustang or V8 Raptor. A 7L 4V BOSS would fit that application better. That's the first I have heard of that being the reason for a 6.2L displacement. As far as I have heard from those in the know about the program, that was always a planned displacement of the 3 for the engine family. Only recently has Ford tried to put DOD on an OHC engine, and I believe it is on a new 3 and 4 cylinder engine family.

  10. Exactly right. He's worked for Ford 42 years. I'm older than Shanks. Speaking from experience, there comes a time in your life when you realize there are fewer days ahead than what have passed. Work, no matter how enjoyable your job may be, it isn't everything. I wish him well in his retirement.
