Funny thing that Motortrend crapped on the Ranger interior vs the others in that article.....but what did they have to say about it just one year ago? https://www.motortrend.com/news/refreshing-or-revolting-2019-ford-ranger-vs-chevy-colorado-toyota-tacoma/ Yes, the same Motor Trend and the same trucks. Funny, the trucks didn't change since them......maybe the advertising did?3 points

Maybe Motor Trend will stop selling ratings and awards.3 points

Aside from the hybrid news Assimilator dropped before vanishing most of this I've been telling you guys for months, but no, don't listen to me!3 points

Right. Leave the stuffing a bigger engine into everything to GM. I like Ford's purpose built approach.2 points

I don't see the 7.3L as a 'performance' engine. With that large bore and simple port fuel injection, I don't see Ford getting a real high compression ratio out of it, and not a lot of timing either. From a performance standpoint, all you have is cubic inches. The 7.3L will be good for what it was designed for.2 points

Yes, yes it was. The truck I saw was a 90s cab with an 80s bed, not the 90s version. This is the bed, notice the taillights and badass Ford stamp: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-ford-f-150/ Now imagine the black bed attached to the front of the red truck (painted to match of course) It was unusual but very cool2 points

Maybe ironically to attract attention to it in this case? Look! Ford's got their electric truck testing already.......shot across the bow to other companies?1 point

I bring my stuff in on the weekends for service usually. My dealer only does service on the weekends. But, there's another dealer (which I loathe) close to my work, so I guess I'm going to have to use them or take a day off to use my dealer of choice. Not complaining. It not like I wasn't at the dealer every other week with my Focus. ?1 point

Yes - up to the owner as to when they bring it in. But they can't sell any new ones without fixing it first.1 point

Colorado is an old truck too... the Isuzu D-Max came out in 2011 around the same time as Ranger. I think the difference is that overseas D-Max/Colorado was such a dog that GM had no choice but to made substantial changes to it for the US market, thus making it much better. Whereas Ranger was already the top of the class truck overseas so Ford essentially just engineered an adequate (actually outstanding) gasoline drivetrain and didn't bother with a lot of other things. The surprise here is that how poorly Ranger's suspension tuning seems to be... and suspension tuning is something that Ford usually ace.1 point

I'm more than happy to do it. I'll play with numbers all day if it's something I'm interested in haha. Any other variations you'd like, or a comparison/chart of specific models, I'm happy to do too, just ask. Whoops. Looks like I used the wrong formula. Here's the fixed version:1 point

I remember this. To me, the design has aged well considering it dates back to 1993.1 point

No, they really didn’t. I read it. It’s more fluff than actual comparison.1 point

Because there are different emission levels for SuperDuty and above certifying it for F150 MIGHT require some changes to the combustion chamber.1 point

Any comparison that includes the Rigdeline in these truck test automatically gets disqualified in my mind. I don't care if they want to market it as a mid size truck. It's a mini van in a truck costume. Honda knows their audience though. Anyone who buys this isn't going to take this thing on any anything worse than a dirt road, haul anymore than a few bags of mulch, or tow more than a jetski.1 point

No surprise here. The Ranger is a 6 years old truck... Maybe the new one that will come in 2021 as a MY 2022 will be the best.1 point

Then pretty much ignored them in the final ratings. You're so naive.1 point

My 2 cents, the 60/40 split allowed the position of the handle and logo in the center. If the split line was on-center, we'd be talking about the off-center handle. HRG1 point

Looks really good! But, I will say this- No direct fuel injection and no modulated displacement (AFM) this thing is going to eat a LOT of gasoline! 10 speed transmission might help a little, just hope it's as tough as the 6 speed Torq-Shift was.1 point
-
Just saw on a TFL video that GM's new gas engine is still going to use a six-speed transmission. Ram now has an eight-speed behind the 6.4 Hemi. Ford is going to have a ten speed behind everything but some lower rated 6.2 equipped trucks.1 point

Yeah, I'm just saying lol. --- FWIW, I put this chart together using the numbers earlier in the thread, comparing them to last year's figures: A few notes - I think PI sedan and utility are included in Taurus and Explorer numbers. Also, heavy trucks weren't on that list, so I left last year's numbers out.1 point

The fact that Ford Europe is handling the development rather than South America is good sign that it will be a much better car. I'm still guessing this will be the larger of two vehicles that will replace EcoSport.1 point
-
"Will it be better?"...could it be any worse?...Im sorry, but there is no place in the US for the 1.0...its failed in every application here. And even with the 2.0 engine, the Ecosport is burdened by weight...or should I say WAIT....1.5 eco would have been the ticket.1 point

Attached is a copy of the information from the FSA notice which should answer any questions related to the Demonstration/Delivery Hold on the 2019 Ranger's built through January 9, 2019. Ford_Demonstration & Delivery Hold_2019 Ranger_2019-02-04_Redacted.pdf1 point

I couldn't exactly remember who it was that said that the next gen Mustang was not going on CD6. Borg/Assimilator did get other things right such as the Explorer/Aviator details though. Interesting to see how the S550 came about and how close it may be to become the CD6. Thanks everyone for all of your comments here as I was wondering about the details of next generation Mustang in terms of architecture/platform and other things. Not sure if it's still 2023MY or sooner. However the 2020 Shelby GT500 has just been revealed and that's one exciting vehicle here so it's still pretty far out for the next generation.1 point

I'm expecting 450HP/500 ft-lbs out of the new 7.3L with a torque curve similar to that of the V10 and fuel economy similar to that of the 6.2L.1 point

Or, you could spend a sum to fix an older vehicle and get many more years out of it mostly trouble free! What does it cost to replace a vehicle, not what the book says its worth. Everyone knows a vehicle is not an investment. I am definitely a keeper person. I look at it this way: I question not what the vehicle is worth in some book, but I ask myself; is the vehicle worth fixing? My '08 Explorer is in very nice condition and would cost me the better part of $40k to replace with a 7 passenger 4x4 that can tow and haul, take the family camping, and drive in snow and ice over Colorado mountains. If I had to drop 3k on a new transmission it would be a no-brainer. 3k vs 40k. I am getting older and the whole emotional need for cool new stuff is wearing off.1 point
