Would you buy another USA Ford Product...?
David The Bruce replied to mettech's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I'm sticking with Ford as I can't see myself in any other make of car. I pity the leaders of the UAW as they are in a tough situation. They understand the situation at hand but they have to sell the deal to a lot of people who don't. -
UAW Turn Attention to Ford

So if I do really well this year financially is the milk man going to charge me more for milk then my neighbor who didn't do as well? -
That's not a valid argument. I could say I want the kid at the timmies drive though window paid enough so he won't be tempted to spit in my coffe or piss on my tims bits too. You set a wage for a job, you advertise the opening, you train the employee you decide to hire. If he/she screws up the job constantly they are put on some kind of HR plan which may lead to getting let go. If I keep getting crappy employees for what I'm paying/offering then I need to rethink the pay being offered.

UAW readies Ford strike approval: WSJ
David The Bruce replied to probowler's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
The UAW gives up nothing voluntarily and good for them for doing it that way. The UAW blew it when they told ford that all uaw assembly jobs could be filled for $14 an hour by new hires. The new hires would be doing the exact same job a current employee is being paid $28 an hour for. What kind of leg does the uaw have to stand on when it's already charging twice what they just recently said was the going rate for assembly work? The uaw going on strike seems like holding a dead guy hostage -
Government workers more likely to die

Retro, are you saying that costs for services should be more for people that make more money? Isn't that like saying rich people should pay more for a gallon of milk then poor people because they can? are you seriously saying that the cost of services should be based on income? -

That car, with the 440, kicked some serious butt. What an engine that was. I seem to remember nothing was padded in those except the seats. You didn't want to be sitting in the passenger seat when those stopped short. -
Those are still good numbers for the old version of the taurus. When I traded in my '99 wagon for my 09 ranger I got $100. It had 140k but was in great shape. Having owned fords all my life I was just happy they took it, so things are looking up.

Wouldn't you imagine labor costs play a role in that. The uaw is a vendor to Ford. They sell ford a product, labor, at a markup. They control the US market for Ford labor, if Ford builds a new plant or increases production at any existing plant in the us they are forced to get labor from one vendor and one vendor only So Ford's only option to pick a different vendor for that product is to put the plant elsewhere. I don't see what the mystery is here, maybe if they had other choices for US labor less plants work would be leaving. quote name='F250' timestamp='1301782507' post='690791'] We are still in "The Way Forward" bloodbath...I'll remind you of what Ford has carved out of America since 2006. Plants closed (and will never come back) Atlanta Assembly (its product was sent directly to Mexico) Taurus to Fusion sedans St Louis Assembly Wixom Assembly Norfolk Assembly one of only 6 Ford plants to run continious through the great depression, they had been building Ford trucks since the Model-T Twin Cities Assembly...coming soon Batavia Transmissions Maumee Stamping And dont forget more closings in Canada the plan was to close 14 North American plants (7 assembly) This eliminated over 28% of Fords NA workforce 30,000 factory jobs and over 4,000 salaried positions. After the recovery will any of these American jobs return? Will Ford re-invest in America? We shall see...

I know for sure that this is none of my business but I'm curious. So you put 2k down and you're going to pick up the 175 a month for 36 months. Is this so the young lady can drive back and forth to college while living at home still? I'm always curious when I see young kids driving nice new cars how they got them. I assumed the parents picked up the tab but I've always been curious why.

Your own organization recently told ford that all production jobs were worth $14 an hour but the people staffing those jobs make $28 an hour. I guess you'll be sacrificing when you hit 13.99 an hour. At least the uaw folks at gm and chrysler were smart enough to say only certain jobs were worth $14 an hour, you folks said all production jobs were worth $14 an hour.

I'm pretty sure I've been paying 80 percent of my healthcare since I got out of the service in 84. Do you pay 20 percent of your health care? I have good insurance and I'm happy with it. My company has been matching up to 5 percent of my salary that I contribute to my 401k, again not a bad deal. Do you contribute to your pension? What are those retirement health benefits you speak of? Do you mean medicare, because that's what we get. I have a great solution, let's just let 'folks' who have jobs advertise them for what they think it will take to attract a competent person to do the job, and on the other side let's let 'folks' who are qualified for the positions decide if they want to work for the compensation being offered. What in the above statement doesn't work for you?
-
I don't want you to have anything taken away from you folks but didn't you see it coming? Private sector employees have been paying at least 20 percent of medical since the 80s. Private sector employees were moved over to 401k plans in the 80s. Private sector employees probably never heard of selling back sick days and the like Did you folks think you were going to slip by unnoticed? You should have made adjustments accordingly over the years so you wouldn't have put yourselves in a postion where someone finally had to come in and take something from you. I mean seriously, what did you expect to happen?

Ford Profits. Now What?

Didn't it benefit the person who got the promotion? So you should only work hard to get ahead when you are already ahead? -

Did you really write "as far as being the most qualified that is always a matter of opinion?"
