  3. Never bring your car to a new car dealership unless it's for a paid recall or part of the warranty. Dealers don't make money SELLING cars, they make it REPAIRING them! Ford founder Henry Ford back around 1912 said if he could be guaranteed all the replacement parts biz, he'd give the cars away for free! I've done all my repairs myself for most of 60 years either in my driveway or using my service station customers' lifts afterhours. I had been selling auto parts to them for 30 years. Unfortunately they've died or it became a convenience store. One of them where I had been bringing my car the last few years because I just don't have the oomph at age 75, just closed, so I bring my car to a friend's barn 50 miles away who has a lift. We work on it together. Since I don't beat my vehicles and they've all been bought used, they've lasted 12 to 20 years and reached 280K to 480K miles. I've only owned 6 cars -- some simultaneously and mostly Fords -- and only one was bought new in 60 years. I'm not bragging but I've only done maybe 10 oil changes in my life. Shame on me? But look how long they've lasted! And I didn't get rid of them because they died. I chose to get rid of them for life changes. As long as the oil is full and the coolant is full and at proper mixture, you're good to go. But keep in mind these are older cars. You know, the ones that were made to last. Not these new cars that many use thin 0W-20 oil and which are junk. I'm currently driving a 2008 Camry because I couldn't find a used Ford. It's 18 years old with 290K miles and I've done two oil changes since I bought it 10 years ago. Except for 2 brake jobs and 2 sets of 4 tires, I've had no major repairs! I've been driving with the engine light on for 2 years! It runs like a top! Oh I forgot, I replaced the starter myself last year. I've never replaced the belts and hoses. And I'm afraid to take preventative action and replace them because the belts and hoses they're making today are junk! I replaced the belt on my 50 year old clothes washer rather than buy a new one because the new ones are junk! My philosophy has been if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Sorry for the rant!
  4. The average driver today can't drive or negotiate a road in a BMW Mini Cooper!
  5. I don't like starting a new thread unless it's necessary. Some observations: You'll notice there's no yellow lines on roads. They don't seem to mind going the wrong way down a street! And it seems likes he's traveled 6 miles! Where the hell is he going?! The building has probably burned down! Anyway, notice anything else? A lot of Ford Transits! 8. Gee, look at Edge and Escape unit sales. Farley says these vehicles didn't fit the brand image!? Then why do Ford's sales numbers keep dropping by double digits every month, quarter, year? The guy's a moron.
  9. Looks like a Bronco to me. https://share.google/CULTm7ZFkfiMPeTNr Also: https://share.google/LUDIBbMwcLNKm87DD
  10. This is great, as long as this doesn't happen: https://share.google/qiMHodUiLZmh1nIoO
  11. I would think the Bronco would be a great platform for a military vehicle. Amazingly enough, I've been watching reruns of the late 60's/early 70's The FBI TV show which was a one-hour Ford commercial for 271 episodes. You can see 40 Fords in an hour! Anyway, dozens of Broncos appeared in those episodes including some in military colors on military bases. Has anybody ever actually seen these? I never have.
  12. This is a little disturbing. I didn't want to start a new thread. Check out those Bronco bodies Bob R! https://share.google/P4KJUrh0B5TPNiRMG

  14. PACCAR overcapacity in class 6, 7 & 8. Peterbilt is just a brand. It doesn't cost PACCAR any more to make a medium truck than it does Ford. It probably costs less! The Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis and Crown Vic were all made on the same assembly line. It cost Ford the same money to push out a TC as it did for the CV and GM. Oh sure, they put more options in the base TC, but you could get a CV loaded for less money usually. Was the TC a better vehicle? NOOOOO! Major brand pricing/marketing is a scam. The Lexus is a glorified Toyota. Private grocery store canned vegetables are packaged by Del Monte. Do you actually think Del Monte sets up a separate line to make inferior cans of corn? They have to keep the processing plants humming. The private brand is cheaper, but tastes the same to me! They just slap a Stop & Shop (New Englander here) label on it. When I sold auto parts/tires back in the 70's thru 90's the Gulf Oil tire was made by Goodrich. The tread was identical and we had a road hazard warrant, Goodrich didn't. There were only 5 or so tire mfrs. making 100 brands of tires. The GMC Sierra isn't better than a Chevy Silverado. They have the same recalls. Well, you get the picture.
  15. Maybe this is why. Is Peterbilt/Kenworth experiencing the same downturn as International and Freightliner in class 8? https://share.google/5h9jf7QDXGkO6ATeY https://share.google/w7vGe96G2nMUSTrFO
