  1. The 2013 Taurus has "a larger brake master cylinder with revised booster tuning, resulting in a shorter pedal ratio and dramatically improved pedal feel." Is it possible to install the new 2013 master cylinder and booster on a 2011 Taurus? I have a 2011 Taurus Limited with only 9000 miles on it and the only thing I don't like about it is the brake pedal feel.
  2. When I buy a Taurus (I'm on my fifth now), I order it from the factory equipped the way I like it. I take it home overnight for a test drive BEFORE I pay for it. I like to look it over in my own garage, and drive it on the roads I'm used to for fifty or sixty miles.
  3. Thanks Ranger! When the current body style of the Taurus first came on the scene, there was some criticism of the crease on the rear quarter panel, particularly the way it slices through the gas door on the right rear. I think it makes sense overall though. It would be a little awkward to have that character line end at the back of the back door. .
  4. . What a nice car! Very much like the 2010 Taurus Limited I traded in, but it has the rear camera that shows a picture in the rear view mirror, and when using sync now, you don't have to say "Phone" and then wait for it to connect to your cell phone. You just say "call home" and it knows you want to use the phone. Very nice! I have 57 miles on the car already.
  5. To make it a fair comparison, test the three on snow covered roads. Taurus would come out first. Otherwise select a front wheel drive Taurus. I get 26.2 mpg average, including some short trips, on my 2010 Taurus Limited FWD.
  6. How can anybody listen to that interview and NOT feel like going out and ordering a new 2011 Ford?
  7. I was considering a 2011 Buick LaCrosse, but I test drove a 2010 the local dealer had for sale, and the air conditioning didn't work. The new LaCrosse is a nice looking, nice riding car, but if you read the owner reviews on Edmund's forum, there are a lot of complaints about LaCrosse quality. The resale value of the 2010 Taurus is terrific. Ford has done a great job with that. It's not going to cost much to trade for a new one this autumn.
  8. Nelson, you've made a reasonable assertion, but not yet made a compelling case. The American consumer is the engine of global trade. Asians save 35 to 50 percent of their income. Americans save 5%. Americans need to save more. Asians need to spend more. If Americans pull in their spending horns prematurely though, societies around the globe will suffer, including our own. I drive my car 8000 miles annually. You drive 15,000 miles annually. It should therefore not be regarded as wasteful if I chose a larger, less efficient car and trade more often because I make up for the inefficiency by being more efficient in using the car sparingly.
  9. When the 2011 Taurus comes in, the dealer will let me keep it for a day or two to drive on my familiar route to assure that it is satisfactory, just as he let me do with the 2010 that I bought last year.
  10. I ordered a new 2011 Taurus, but I didn't buy it yet. It won't be delivered to the dealer until September. Nelson has until then to present a more convincing thesis on what it is that I would be doing in upgrading my car from a 2010 to 2011 that would be wasteful.
  11. I feel sorry about those losing their jobs, but I think there are enough panthers to satisfy fans of the car for a long time. The cars can be rebuilt for decades just like Model T and Model A Fords have been. I have a black 1996 Lincoln Town car with 59k miles on it that I'm enjoying preserving and driving a few times a week.
