  1. Thanks Xbar. I'm very happy to hear your Edge is geting such good gas mileage. I'm looking forward to test driving one soon to get a feel for the performance.
  2. I'm considering ordering a 2016 Edge with the 2.0L Ecoboost engine and AWD. For those with the 2015 Edge and this engine, what kind of gas mileage are you getting? Are you satisfied with the performance? Thanks.
  3. Thanks, but my Escape has electric steering so no power steering pump.
  4. Another problem that my dealer can't resolve is a steering wheel squeak. The squeak occurs all the time when turning the wheel to the left or right. The pitch of the squeak doesn't change. The dealer said they replaced the steering column and recently replaced something in the air bag. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks.
  5. My '09 V6 FWD 6F35 Escape has a clunk noise that my dealer has yet to been able to resolve. The dealer has confirmed the noise, but cannot locate the source of it. Ford via a phone call told the dealer it's normal windup. The Escape has about 24K miles. When going about 20 mph, and very lightly pressing on the gas pedal (no downshift), something in the front goes clunk. Sometimes when letting off the gas at low speeds I can hear the clunk. I can simulate the noise by just having the transmission in park and shifting into reverse or going between drive and reverse. It's very easy to hear with the windows open and in a quiet garage. My Escape did not have the noise when it was new, and the new Escapes on the lot don't have the noise either. A Ford Field Service Engineer is supposed to look a the problem eventually. Anyone else have or had this problem? Thanks.
  6. Great info! Thanks everyone, my '09 Escape may also have this problem.
  7. A friend of ours has a Mariner Hybrid and the lower part of the front seats appear to have a slight outward bow in them offering some lumbar support. I didn't look for an adjustment. The back of my Escape's seats are rather flat, but I've become used to it.
  8. My subscription ended a few weeks ago, and I didn't renew. I couldn't stand the Sirius telemarketers repeatedly calling my wife and I at home. Then, after the renewal date passed, they started call us again. I told them to take our name of their call list. They said they would. One of the reasons I didn't renew was because of the sound quality. Too me, the compressed audio sounded like Lo-Fi radio. The FM Stereo radio sounds better.
  9. My Escape is a Limited with the premium leather seats. The driver's seat is electric, but no lumbar support.
  10. Thanks Walt. I wish I would have checked out the Mariner before buying the Escape. That's a good suggestion you have regading the Mariner seats and I may look into it.
  11. My '09 Limited also has the chrome clad wheels. I didn't realize they were plastic covers on aluminum wheels until I purchased the car and had it home. At first I was turned off on the plastic covered wheels, but they did shine up really nice with some Mother's chrome polish. In fact, they looked pretty darn good. A week or two later I asked if the dealer could replace the wheels with something else, but the only thing they could swap them with were 16 inch wheels, which of course I didn't want. Ever since I've been noticing even more expensive cars having the chrome clad wheels, so I don't feel as bad about them anymore. Maybe it's an Industry trend to reduce costs. I live in the south so I'm guessing the chrome clad will hold up fairly well. Also, I know someone in the North that had the chrome clad wheels and he thought they held up pretty good in the snow/salt over the years. With my Escape's dark charcoal color, I think the chrome wheels set off the car nicely. If I were to replace the clad wheels, I would definitely look at chrome again. But, that new sport package's black plastic clad wheels look pretty good too...Maybe a good paint shop will come in handy someday.
  12. I like those black wheels, which look just like my chrome clade wheels but only black. That gives me a good idea for someday repainting my chrome clad wheels.
  13. After checking with my dealer today, he said the fordwarrantys price is below their cost. The best they could do was match it, and since he wasn't making any money on it, he didn't care where I bought it. I spoke with fordwarrantys and the rep was very helpful and pleasant. I ordered it online and within a few hours I had confirmation of coverage, with paperwork to follow within 14 days. It as a good and easy experience buying the contract through fordwarrantys.com. Thanks again. Dave
  14. I have Michelin 17" Cross Terrain tires on my Escape. I'm curious what tire pressure you're running in your Escape's tires. The official Ford recommendation is 30 pounds, and my dealer had them filled to 35 pounds. I usually run my tires a little higher than the car manufacturer's recommendation, so I backed them down to 33 pounds.
  15. Thanks all. I think I may add the deflector, but I'm curious how it attaches. My Ford dealer doesn't stock it so I can't take a look at it first. Is there a possibility that over the long haul the mounting of the deflector could cause damage to the hood paint? Thanks.
