  1. I think someone is spending way too much time listening to Limbaugh, Beck and FOX news. You are paranoid. If government healthcare and government pensions are so terrible, try getting your congressmen to give up his. All we have to do is cut in half (or how about eliminate) the aid we send to foreign countries; and there are a lot of them. Get rid of blackwater, kbr and the other rip-off, front companies (sweet defense contracts) eating up all of the military funding (nobody should be getting rich at the expense of US soldiers--that's just wrong!). Quit creating bogus and meaningless excuses to go to war. Repeal the stupid Reagan/Bush tax breaks for super wealthy people. Get rid of tax loopholes for corporations that can afford to pay billions in bonuses to execs while sending jobs out of the country. So, now that we will have a surplus again... Let's take care of our citizens, (not just ourself) especially the kids and the elderly, they didn't cause this mess. Spend more on public education, (DUH- more education=better job=no need for welfare) shore up social security and ensure that no one ever loses everything they own because of health problems. Healthcare should be a right in this country and not a priviledge/entitlement for the rich and elite. I would much rather live in a country that is going broke because we are providing for our citizens, than to live in one that is going broke because we spend too much invading countries that we disagree with. The problems this country is experiencing now were mostly begun in the years of republican reign. Deregulation damn near caused another great depression. And now that everyone is unemployed, uninsured and undereducated (because of stupid politics) you want to go ahead and kick them when they're down. It's weird how people think now days. I've got mine--screw everyone else. I don't ever want to be so greedy and closed minded.
  2. But I guarantee the Escape was built at local 249's KCAP. Couldn't hurt to forward the letter to both plants. It a good boost to employee morale.
  3. I think I'll watch the news tonight long enough to see who advertises on this channel. Then I'm going to send letters to them, too. In this economy more people need to stand up for the working class. Hopefully this stations advertisers will agree. Besides, without a job, most people can't buy the products being advertised anyway.
  4. Please go to this website and read this guys editorial and then let him know what you think. If the link doesn't work just go to your favorite search engine and look for KMBC9 Kansas City, editorial, UAW/FORD. The editorial was written by Wayne Godsey, president and general manager. It takes less than 2 minutes to register and be able to leave comments. This guy really needs to hear from a lot of us. Here in Kansas City we build 2 of the highest quality and most popular vehicles anywhere (and that's only counting the Ford plant--The GM plant in Fairfax is building a top seller and they're even putting on another shift). This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. When I'm done writing on his online comment section I'm going to start letting him know what I think via email. I hope you will all help me. Let's let him know we are not just a bunch of greedy morons. I'll bet if someone took the time to do some research on him and KMBC9 we'd probably find out that they have been fighting against unions for a long time. (I haven't had time yet to do the online research, but I'm working on it) .http://www.kmbc.com/editorials/21559939/detail.html
  5. :happy feet: 92% Awesome 249 brothers and sisters. We rock, but I hope someone can top that number. So, who are the losers that voted yes? If you believe everything that Ford tells you, then where is our new body shop? Look back at all that we have lost (some of you new guys have no idea what I'm talking about, but it's alot) Stand up and be heard. Vote it down! We did!! Just for the record, as proud as I am of my fellow union members, I'm shocked to see that less than half cared enough to vote. Dumbasses
  6. Sorry longball, but that's what I got out of your comment also. I agree with everything Die said. And I think it's great that the president wants to reinforce what I have been telling my kids all along. Funny, we want to talk about responsibility and the re  publicans want to shut us up. Did any of the hate radio freaks boycott the speech that Michael Vick made to students today. Didn't think so, but then, he isn't responsible. By the way, do you remember the Dixie Chicks and the ensueing firestorm. The republicans were ready to sponsor a bill executing anyone who insulted the president. "no matter what you think of him you have to show him the respect that he deserves as your president" funny how that doesn't apply to them. And one more thing since you are obviously better educated than me... I think it should be You're on the fringe, not your. But then again, you're the educated one.
  7. Here is a list of places actively hiring in the KC area.... McDonalds Wal Mart Nebraska Furniture Mart Price Chopper I'm sure that there are many more. Hopefully you crybabies can work at one of these jobs and not worry about falling asleep on the way home. Unfortunately they don't let you pick your hours either. Some of us are just happy to still have a good job in this economy. I transfered to this plant because I needed to work. I didn't want to leave my home, family and friends, but I did. And now all my union seems to worry about is whether or not the guys on c crew should have to work the schedule that their employer imposes. It's also a shame that instead of pulling tradesmen out of GEN pools and layoff lists we are fighting to keep the number we have and pay them tons of overtime, instead of increasing our membership numbers, putting our brothers and sisters back to work and spreading the wealth. I'd rather get more people working than pad my own pockets, because that's supposed to be what solidarity is all about.
  8. That was great! I wish he was the mayor of my hometown. I sent him a thank you note last night, along with a little background info on my job situation, and he sent me a reply (it wasn't an automatically generated reply- he referred to things that I had mentioned) by 10 am this morning. Sounds like a smart guy. He came from a UAW raised family and it shows. Please, everyone take the time to send him a note of thanks. He needs to get more email from us than he gets from the Bozos that are bashing us (and him) on youtube. Also, call your senators and representatives!! Call them now!! YOUR job and YOUR wages and YOUR benefits are on the line. We must help ourselves. These crooks in Washington want us to give up our health care because we are not profitable, yet they are putting this country further in debt everyday and they keep their lifetime benefits. They balk at loaning the Big3 money (loans) without a business plan and yet they give (not a loan)wall street 20 times the amount we need with no strings attached. They want us to take a pay cut, because we make to much for a company that is struggling, but they vote themselves big raises every year while the country goes into a big depression. It's time to get mad folks. Stand up and fight (or sit at your computer and type letters--- to congressman, to newspapers etc...) but do something!
  9. This happened to me once in Florida. I specified 'Big 3 built' when I reserved and also when I confirmed, but when I arrived at the rental lot, all they had was a Toyota and a couple of Nissans. They said I could pick up a Ford Explorer the next day at noon, but for the moment I had to pick an import. That left me with a Toyota and 21 hours to hunt down potholes and dusty dirt roads. It wasn't a pretty sight!
  10. What's the difference between Joe the plumber and a UAW pipefitter? Joe puts his face where pipefitters put their ass. Oh, and a journeyman card.
  11. So, I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, has anything happened on this? Anybody been reinstated in the trades yet? Just curious, I hadn't seen any chatter about it lately.
  12. MEUAW as usual you are incorrect and LEVEL is right on target. How 'bout you scan a copy of the letter you are referring to and post it for all of us to see. I'm sure you still have it because you claim to know exactly what it says. Post a copy of the official document and we'll all try to help you understand it. Just because you are regretting your decision doesn't mean you should try to screw your fellow tradesmen. Didn't you say in a previous post that you were a committeeman, how can you represent people with such a 'screw my brothers' attitude? Go back home to your side of the river.
  13. LEVEL- I agree with you completely. Obviously, you have a brain (and a conscience) and you engage it before you type. It was a great explanation, however, I'm afraid some still won't get it. Well done! MEUAW- Your user name should be MEIDIOT! UAW is about solidarity. Our union brothers and sisters did no wrong. It shouldn't matter how or why they are in production, we should be working together to get them back into the job that Ford trained them for. I agree completely with LEVEL, if their production time doesn't count then GEN pool or layoffs shouldn't count either. Oh, and along your line of thinking--If you go from trades to a different classification (even temporarily) like say, perhaps, committeeman, then does that change anything. Should your trades committeeman have to lose his trades time and start over because he spent two or three years representing your dumb ass. No, I didn't think so. But he did willingly go into that job, didn't he. Did he give up all rights to be a tradesman? That's alright, you don't need to answer, I already know you'll say something idiotic. You are a self centered, greedy, egotistical moron. If the day comes that you are displaced by one of these people, I hope the folks in your new plant treat you as you have treated others. Have a nice day, butthead!
  14. I heard this also. Are you in the trades? Do you know of anybody laid off or in GEN who signed up to go to KCAP and hasn't had the opportunity? I was under the impression that they were having problems getting enough tradesmen (especially pipefitters and electricians) to run the 5 crew trades shift that they are wanting. I would much prefer to see Ford bringing them (those tradesmen that took the breakdown) back as opposed to hiring off the street. Also, there is something to be said for workers that will go to work instead of sitting in GEN collecting free money. They were told they could come back to trades if they were needed and now they are. Also, if they lose their time, then can't they also take time away from the tradesmen that were laid off or sitting in GEN pool. By the way, we have a batch of trades from ACH plants coming on October 27th.
  15. Does anyone have any new news about the St. Louis people. I'm wondering if the plans have changed now that the truck plant may lose a shift. Are all of the pending transfers still on or have they been postponed
